Tedious Service With A Very Much Less Than Average Result!
Our dining table was in need of an overhaul, particularly the surface, so we approached The Timber Doctor, the initial visit was hard to organise as the local franchisee seemed to be busy. Eventually he gave us a quote which seemed high but we also needed to have this done whilst we were away, so there was plenty of time and no pressure from us, this was in August, by early November ( a deposit had been paid) the table had still not been collected from our home and we had agreed on it being delivered, complete, by 2nd week in December. We were concerned that it would end up as a rush job at this stage. After plenty of excuses, it was finally delivered, and it has to be said we were surprised both at the result and the attitude of the 'Timber Doctor' the table was not that well done, in fact there were more things wrong with it, except for the gloss finish, than when it went to the TD! He spent at least 15 minutes telling us how busy he is, hiw bad the traffic was, how family life was...blah blah blah. We asked about the care. Reluctantly he went out to the van and came back with a care kit, telling how normally expensive this is.....and showed us how to use it, albeit not very well. Then he asked about final payment, we had already paid two payments, we said with the invoice we would transfer that evening, he then rudely pointed out that it could be done whilst he was here.......whoa, then he proceeded to stand over me whilst I did the transfer on Paypal! He left, I am afraid we could not even bring ourselves to graciously thank him, and for the next 3- 4 weeks hardly used the table as we were scared that the gloss finish might not be tough enough, as it must have all been done in such an unnecessary last minute rush. We are still not happy with the surface, in that the small dents had not, as requested been dealt with properly, the surface is definitely not even, and we learned that he had sub-contracted for certain parts of the job, and not unexpectedly we have not even had a follow up on our satisfaction with the job or an appreciation of our business, it was certainly not cheap in fact we could probably, on reflection (no pun intended), have bought a new table,.....our custom will definltely go elsewhere in future.
