Shocking !

It is just over 4 years since I had my kitchen installed by Ultimate Kitchens.

Things were poorly fitted in the first place but more recently the kitchen doors have started to peel and the frisge door will no longer shut as the front laminate has come away

You try contacting the company or arranging to have rectification work done - forget it ! Even within any promised warranty period

Once they have your money they are not interested - worse still certain members of staff are arrogant

Keep well clear

Saw Ultimate Kitchens At Their New Showroom In Che

Saw Ultimate Kitchens at their new showroom in Cheshire Oaks and was impressed by the display, agreed to a home visit and two guyscame to measure up.

We were happy with the design and we went back to Chester to arrange the details. One item we really wanted was the self clean oven and this was written on the top copy of the contract by one of them.

At the beginning of October they delivered and started work immediately, the oven was installed first and it did not look like the one I ordered, I rang immediately but they could do nothing because it was out of the box, it seems that he only managed to get the order on my contract and not on theirs. I was assured that he had been told off which was no help to us in getting the oven we wanted.

From there things went downhill, the fitter was hopeless, he left the power sockets out of the housing for the fridge and freezer, my kitchen was filled with fridges until he came back and moved the power, the dishwasher moves every time the door is opened and the tap loosens every time its tightened.

I suspect the dishwasher door was not put on straight and it remains to be seen if the door can be rehung or if it needs a new door. The pull out units fell apart as soon as I put anything in them and I had a gap down one side as he had not put a fillet in place.

Talking to the advisor was hopeless nothing was ever his fault, he would not take responsibility for anything most calls were never returned and promises of getting a fitter back were rarely true.

The last time I saw a fitter was just before Christmas and I spoke to him at the end of January when he was going to get a fitter out and of course I am still waiting and it is now June.

I have had other people sort out Ultimate's shortcomings but I do worry that if I do need replacement parts I will not be able to get matching pieces.

When I saw that Ultimate Kitchens were in Administration my first thoughts were 'just desserts' and I hope they are not resurrected but I am sure that like a bad penny they will be back

They are still called the kitchen company and have now resurfaced in warrington gemini business park absolute nightmare!

STAY CLEAR we have had nothing but trouble

saracen65

They have re-surfaced as The Kitchen Company in Chester. When you dig deeper they have been known by at least 6 other names, all gone into administration or dissolved. Looks like they now plan to pray on victims in the Chester area and will probably get away with it for a year or 2 before moving on and leaving a trail of disappointed clients. Companies like this give the kitchen industry a bad name and I would like to see the likes of Rogue Traders or Cowboy Builders do an investigation into them, at the very least Trading Standards.

Aggressive Approach

Having fallen on this company after a failed trip to Ikea I was actually very pleased with the design and handed over my £200 deposit cheque on the day to buy us a cheaper deal on what appeared to be our dream kitchen. Unfortunately I then Googled the company and came across a huge amount of negative feedback. We made the decision to take heed and cancelled the order. This led then to two phone calls which went from "what can I do for you?" to telling me I was a "nasty woman" who had a "brain in (your) head and should use it". He told me that all the negative reviews on this page were lies and that most had been written by the company next door but one to them. Sadly for him he didn't appear to understand that the aggression in his conversation told it's own tale. Towards the end of the conversation he told me that he wouldn't be returning our deposit cheque, he said he "wouldn't waste a stamp" and that I should cancel the cheque if that's what I wanted. I told him that, in fact, I already had and shortly after he slammed the phone down realising that he wasn't going to get any money out of me. I didn't have a long dealing with this company and feel I have had a lucky escape. I am sure that I would have had a fight on my hands to get me deposit back if I hadn't stopped the cheque- despite the fact that this was well within the 7 day limit on the contract.

Best of luck with your court case.

Hellsrogers

You may the correct decision - we are going to court on the 14th May 2013 to try to get our £4000 deposit back as we couldn't get this company to be specific about what the contract contained and couldn't be certain we would get the kitchen we expected. We will post our success or otherwise in due course.

Falling To Pieces

I've had the benefit of 2 years to review my kitchen so I'm sparking with a good deal of dispassion and objectivity. The service initially was very poor. Parts of the kitchen was missing and took me a long time to persuade them to delivery what I'd already paid for!! The after sales service is shocking.

The subcontractors were shocking as well. The fitters were at best average. The electrician was dangerous and his work had to be corrected at extra cost. No certificates were provided. After 2 years living with the crappy quality kitchen, I've had to replace the side panels, the hob back panel, the kick boards, the door handles, hinges I could go on and on.

I've not even bothered contacted UK as to be honest, there's no point. Believe me this shower are total rip off merchants. You'd be better getting a fairly cheapo kitchen from The usual generic DIY warehouse.

I feel a mug for getting sucked in

Avoid Aviod Aviod

Pressurising sales team and rude management. This company promise the world and deliver much less. I would not be swayed into wanting one of their kicthens EVER

At Your Risk

If it weren't for the builder [name removed], they would receive zero. Still fixing things now after a few months. Owners not interested and the managers incompetent. Fitter turns up when he wants.

Easy Exchange

I had my kitchen, several years ago, superb no problems until a couple of doors started to bubble on the edges. Telephoned Ultimate, Sheryl ordered me some new doors (at no cost) and Dave came out and fitted the new doors. No problems good guys.
