My husband bought this product for me after seeing that I was having more obvious grey hair at the fringe area. I was apprehensive about hair dyes after those at the salon giving me scalp-stinging experiences (albeit nice colours). A recent purchase of an expensive all-natural herbal hair dye left my grey hair still completely grey. After googling for reviews on Natur Vital Colour Safe, I was even more apprehensive. My husband assured me his mom has been using it for years without complaints. I was prepared to wash it off immediately if my scalp starts to sting. (I was meeting my friends that evening so, even though I know I should not, I skipped the patch test). Thank goodness everything turned out very smoothly! A very good experience, especially with the aloe Vera shampoo and hair mask provided!

I had "itchy scalp" prior to using Natur Vital Coloursafe hair dye. I had been using other hair dyes for years. I have seen 3 dermatologists regarding this matter (all with varying opinions as to causation). Yes, I could just stop & go grey, but I choose to colour my hair. That being said, each of us has a responsibility to do some homework on this. I have here in front of me the tube of Natur Vital hair colour, the pamphlet included & the box. I do not find any conflicting info on the box as to what is included inside. On the pamphlet inside, it relays that it contains "oxidizing colourants" "diaminotoluenes" and "hydrogen peroxide". If you google this "diaminotoluenes" chemical (& I'm no chemist!) it does state that this chemical is a replacement for the chemical PPD. The Scottish Environment Protection Agency states: "Dermal contact with diaminotoluene can cause severe skin irritation, dermatitis and blistering of the skin. Contact with the eyes can lead to irritation, tearing, corneal opacities and in extreme cases can cause permanent blindness if left untreated. The International Agency for Research on Cancer has designated 2,5 diaminotoluene as being not classifiable as to its carcinogenicity to humans. The International Agency for Research on Cancer has designated 2,4 diaminotoluene as a possible carcinogen. However, exposure to diaminotoluene at normal background levels is unlikely to have any adverse effect on human health." So, there you have it, ladies. All permanent hair colouring products will have something potentially scary in it. That is what harsh chemicals are. If you think that you will find a kindly, all-natural and chemical-free permanent hair colouring product, you should patent it pronto because you will become rich. It just isn't out there. We ask for colour to cover our grey hair & then are shocked to learn that it contains a chemical compound. How naive can we be?? Now, back to Natur Vital. I've used their permanent hair colour products for a couple of years. My scalp is still itchy, but it doesn't burn during the application process like it used to. The last dermatologist I went to (& I gave her the ingredients of the hair dye) didn't think my "dermatitis" was caused by the hair colouring product (but I can't imagine application of any chemical to my scalp is helpful). But, that is my choice, so I live with it. The hair colouring works well, but I have to leave it on a full 30 min. because my grey roots are stubborn. Also, the lighter blond colours just don't cover my grey well. So, I've chosen a darker colour that does cover & I hope as I age more, I may become "very brave" & just go grey. For now, I need to minimize my risks & live with the consequences, just like all of you "permanent hair colour users". To Natur Vital's credit, there are ample warnings & disclaimers printed inside the pamphlet stating that hair colourants in general can cause severe allergic reactions (including theirs). So, be informed & to your homework. I gave it four stars because their colours are pretty & the shampoo is great!

Hi just taught i would leave a quick comment as i have using this product for many years and i am very happy with the way my hair has turned out . I beg the question that the people who are leaving some negative reviews are not reading the instructions correctly or are not looking in to what the product offers. So i will just leave this little comment for people to read. Whilst Coloursafe is PPD free it is possible that people with PPD allergies may also be allergic to other chemicals in Coloursafe (from Peroxide to Toluene 2,5diamine sulphate, also known as PDT).

Two years ago, after many years of colouring my hair, I developed an allergic reaction to hair colour. After a lot of searching I realised it could be PPD. I tried this product in light blonde. My natural colour is quite dark, but I have a lot of grey which I wanted to cover. It did not lighten my darker hair but covered the grey OK. So now I pre-lighten my hair with a weak bleach-shampoo and then apply the colour. I have lovely blonde hair, even my hair-dresser has commented on the professional look. Also, no adverse reaction to the dye. I have read other reviews on this site which are not good but, I am happy!

First of all I want to say, I am not sure if I have a real allergy to PPD. I haven't colored my hair much before. When I was home in Australia my hair stylist has done ombre and balayage type of things before but I have never put anything on my scalp before. Now I am living in Hong Kong and recently tried a regular hair dye just off the shelf from the drug store and put it all over my head. It wasn't anything serious but I did start to feel a burning/tingling feeling on my scalp the moment the colour touched it. So me being the anxious type that I am, I washed it off early and as a result the colour ended up not very even. So for the last 2 weeks or so I have been running around Hong Kong like crazy trying to find some chemical free alternative so I can fix my hair! I tired to ask around local people but they would only suggest henna. and I was really not interested!! (sounds so messy!)At last I finally found this Natur Vital hair colour hair dye in a department store called LOG-ON (which is actually in association with city'super I believe) and I was so excited to finally find something. But when I got home I jumped on the internet and was freaked out at the reviews I saw. I actually can't find a good review on this stuff!! And being the anxious person I am I was really nervous to try it. But I decided to be brave and I did a patch test on my arm. I didn't; have a reaction so the next day I went ahead and colored my hair. Everything went fine and I am actually really happy with this product! There is basically no smell to this dye which is really great. It was really thick and creamy and easy to apply. The colour pay off was really great. The shampoo and conditioner it came with are also really quite nice. Whether it dried me out or not its too early to say, but so far so good. So I'm guessing maybe I am not allergic to the PPD. Perhaps something else that is in the regular stuff is what made my scalp burn. Really sorry to hear about the people who unexpectedly reacted to it and I think its true that this is dangerous and falsely advertised. Sorry for the long review, but I though I would share my story incase anyone else has smiler experience to me :)

Over the past 20 years I have tried most popular regular haircolours but they made my eyes water and I occasionally felt some tingling. I have used Naturvital for 6-8 months. It does not stink of ammonia or make your eyes water like other haircolours. It does not itch or burn. The colour comes out slightly darker than indicated, but this is because it does not lighten your hair first with high levels of ammonia and peroxide. Instead its like Henna - it layers/enhances your existing colour, and does a great job of covering greys. Never had any problems with it, much safer than other off the shelf colours.
