I'm looking to do the Absolute Oz trip with Gap360 and was wondering if anyone else has done it solo and what your experience was? I really want to do it but worried I will get out there and struggle to find accommodation with other people? Thanks x

Does the price include flight?  What is the minimal length of time for trips? Is there a trip to England or Europe offered? Is there a minimal age? What does the price include? How safe is the student?

No prices do not include flights but you will be referred to a flight company through the company. please look at the gap360 website for length of trip, what the price includes and trip options as these vary. They have an age guideline of 18-24 but this may vary with trip and it's a guide not a definite age. As someone that has gone through one of the programmes I felt safe at all times, they get you in contact with decent companies but as an individual you need to book a trip you feel comfortable doing , they are there as a contact but the companies aren't with you at all times.

Hi, I travelled to Africa with Gap360 and I had the same concerns. I can honestly say that everyone at Gap360 were really helpful. I called them so many times before I even set off asking them questions about my transfers from the airport right down to whether safes were kept in the hotel rooms. And they had an answer for everything. It was very reassuring and I had no problems at all while I was out there, but felt better knowing they were at the end of the phone or email anytime.

Hi there, I have been living in Thailand for over a year now. I came through Gap 360. I have lived both in rural Thailand and more urban areas/cities. I have met an incredible amount of teachers both male and female who have never had any issues with their safety. The only people who run into issues are those who consume too much alcohol and do stupid things. I understand your concerns but Thailand really is a welcoming and generous country. And I'm sure your daughter will be in touch very often!!

I am from the States but was wondering if I could go through Gap360? I love their trip to Thailand, and it's the best one I've seen yet.

What if you have little luck finding a job? What is the likelihood that the programme gives of finding employment whilst out there?

I was out there for a year and the short answer is that if you are ready to put in some work to get out and interview you will get a job. It seems scary at first - that you are going to a new country without a job - but the fact of the matter is that it just works. People are always coming and going so there are always good jobs available. I used the team in Sydney a lot for help and they were great - a real perk of travelling with Gap360. I honestly never met anyone who couldn't find work - the only ones I met who weren't working was because they couldn't be bothered to go to interviews! So my advice is relax, go for it, and enjoy yourself!!! You won't regret it.

Hi there, I'm a parent who has a daughter that wants to do her gap year in Sep 15. I'm proud that she wants to venture out there and experience life, but on the other hand, I'm worried about her safety and the fact that she's going out to Thailand on her own. She doesn't understand my concerns so if there are any parents out there who can reassure me then I'd appreciate it?

Hi there, Although i'm not a parent, I wanted to comment and say that I booked my trip away through gap360 and I can honestly say your daughter will be in safe hands. It was my first trip away by myself and I was pretty nervous! But gap360 are incredibly professional, friendly and reassuring, they even called me the day before I was due to fly out to make sure I had packed everything and if I had any last minute questions. I'm not sure which trip in Thailand your daughter is planning on doing, but as Thailand is so popular I'm sure she will be travelling with like-minded young people who will have booked the same trip, so she won't be travelling alone.. if that helps your safety concerns!

When I went to Thailand with Gap360,I did the ThaiAdventure, my parents had the same concerns as yourself, but understood that doing something independently was going to be a great experience. Your daughter will always be with a guide who make sure that everyone is accounted for during the day and at night, every person is given the guides number so you could get this off her for extra security, there is plenty of internet cafes which a cheap so if she can't phone you there will a way to get in touch with you. It was the best experience of my life, i'm sure it will be for your daughter, but yes you will be worried the entire time she is out there.

What does the absolute oz trip include? Do I have to book my own flights? Will someone meet me at the airport when I land?

Hi Sophie, I did the package last year and you get lots with it - the best being the job support that enabled me to always be in work and actually saved some money whilst I was there... The week in Sydney was well worth the money as you meet loads of people and make some great friends... I really overspent then but am happy to be earning good $ now... They do pick you up from the airport and the whole set up is really good and reassuring, bit like being part of a big family :) Only downside is you do have to pay for your flights out there but it's money really well spent! See you down under ;)
