First Choice are only fit for an episode of Rogue Traders or Watchdog. They send over a slick salesman with all the answers and as soon as they take your money they stop answering the phone to you. Our installers did arrive pretty much when promised but they did a second rate job. The side windows of the conservatory are leaning out at an angle under the weight of the roof because they weren't installed correctly. Over a year has passed I have had endless unanswered phone calls, written countless letters, contacted trading standards, citizens advice and our local smalls claims court and still no progress. So much time wasted. Oh and the 10 year warranty is also a lie which you will never receive. They should not be aloud to do business. Sadly consumers in this situation get no helpful support to bring companies like this to justice without having to spend a fortune on legal fees.

When eventually finished the conservatory is ok. The various tradesmen that did the job were very good no complaints with them. However dealing with the company a nightmare, as previous comments I can confirm that calls were never answered or replied to and I was continually chasing them after one tradesman had finished to get the next one in. Still waiting for rubbish to be removed from my front garden 2 months after first contact!!

Had first choice around last October , agreed on price & ordered it , said it will be started 2/4 weeks after order , left messages & txt but no replies to any thing , I actually thought they had gone bankrupt , I got Conservitory delivered and it had to go in storage , eventually I got hold of some one in April and not really any closer to the work been started , then there builder rang me and asked what needed to done ! He didn't have a clue ! I rang and cancelled and Said i don't want one from your company near my property , then sent recorded delivery explaining how bad they were , so unprofessional . My letter was opened and sent back , saying they weren't there , may be there gone , there trading under another name like solar panel . Don't use them.

Inside of conservatory good BUT Once I paid the balance they did not come back to rectify badly done outside work which I did not notice before. Promised to call round but never did. Had to get someone else to do the work . Guarantee WORTHLESS. From acceptance of work to be done total lack of information. Total experience Frustrating. GO to reputable company with trade backing.

Nothing original to write here. Conservatory was eventually finished 2 weeks prior to Xmas 2013 - was originally due to be completed for Half term holiday. on 29th December, we had water pouring in where the conservatory was sealed to the building + a number of other snags. It took us 2 months to eventually get an acknowledgement from the company using Direct Conservatories 4u as leverage. A representative appeared to review the issues we were having on Friday 7th March and committed to return the following week to fix - this did not happen. We have not been able to get hold of anyone from First Choice conseravtories since, leaving countless voicemails & emails, and even contacting Direct Conservatories 4u for help. In speaking to Sally last week, she appeared helpless to assist us, even though the problems relate to both the conservatory structure & associated building works. I have spoken to Trading Standards today and will be following a formal process. Such a shame, as the conservatory itself would be fine if the snags had been addressed immediately. Happy to share process we're going through, but am concerned having seen the number of similar experiences that you've all been going through that we will get issues remedied or any damages.

We engaged Worst Choice to build an orangery DON'T! Their work is substandard to say the least and they don't - or won't - communicate. Their main aim is to take your money without paying vat - that is why you pay each trade direct. The groundwork was dreadful - not measured accurately therefore leaving each further trade to compensate for the inaccuracies resulting in a monumental disaster! They don't answer nor return calls ever! We had to contact the manufacturer of the glass work to get any response at all and we are still left with a building which is not water tight and quite frankly looks skew wiff! We have had an independent survey and will be looking for compensation. Even if they turned up wanting to make everything good I wouldn't want them anywhere near my property!

This is my second review as my original one has disappeared. This company used high pressure sales tactics and then no contact once deposit was paid. At no point did he explain that a DIY conservatory company would be used and was very cagey when asked about the company. It became obvious that he was just the middleman and we became worried about what would happen in the event of something going wrong. We became concerned when he offered us big discounts if we made the decision immediately. After 9 days we asked for the return of our deposit and he frightened us into thinking we had to go ahead. Only after dealing with direct4u conservatories did we manage to escape this company. DO NOT HAVE ANY DEALINGS WITH FIRST CHOICE CONSERVATORIES

They were quick enough to make you sign on dotted line but no so quick when you rang to ask what's going on and they never got back to me , got a boxed up Conservitory sitting in garden , I'm so fed up

Ditto to all over reviews! Pushy sales, delayed starts and poor communication! Our Conservatory is 2 years old now. We have had damp patches (which initially they did sort out after hounding them day after day) and window problems. Poor building work and no attention to detail or warranty! When initially sold to us they advertised that they were a member of Check a trade. When i checked they said they were not and to be very careful, unfortunately to late. Am thinking a call to the BBC Cowboy builders and Rough traders should be made?!?! Still damp patches with no return calls or after sale care. AVOID!!!!

I'm thinking we should form a club and complain en masse. Trouble is, no matter how many of us there are, if they won't reply to e mails, texts or phone calls, we can't do anything !!! SOOOOOOOOO FRUSTRATING. Stupid company and stupid us for using them !!

I agree. Our conservatory is 2 years old and the seals are all coming undone. I have left numerous messages and emails and they have not bothered to get back to me. Last year we had a problem with the door not shutting and it was a nightmare dealing with them. I had to make a complaint to CPA and FENSA!.

We bought a conservatory from this company back in November. We were told it would be finished in three weeks. Although it all started very well, things went down hill very quickly. Workmen not turning up when they were supposed to and lack of communication. I can't even begin to tell you how many phone calls we made chasing them. Never to be called back. We are now in March and although we now have the finished item, we have leaks and a couple of small matters that need to be dealt with. Still they don't return calls or come to fix them. I have to say though. I have been in contact with Sally from Conservatories 4 u and she has been a star and couldn't be more helpful. She has always been on the end of the phone with any queries and always returns calls. She has also helped us with chasing the builders. Thank god for people like her, she is professional and friendly at the same time. Thank you Sally. Sadly although all our efforts we still have an unfinished conservatory. Never use First Choice Conservatories but you can always depend on Conservatories 4 U.

I agree with all the other reviewers. Our experience has been very similiar. Hard sell followed by complete lack of communication and customer service. 10 months of chasing and though we have a building it has multiple issues including poor flashing and leaks and like many others still have no warrenty. I have left hundreds of messages, and have failed to get letters delivered to the company address. Avoid using this company at all costs! We did try to find reviews before signing up last year and wish someone had warned us so please take heed.

I purchased a conservatory from first choice about 10 months ago. The reason I chose first choice was I was told that the conservatory would be finished for my wife coming out of hospital after quite a serious operation. My problems started straight away as the builders who were coming to build the base never turned up when I phoned I was told that a representative of first choice knew they weren't coming but never told us I had already put the dog in kennels and took time off work. Once the work was finally completed in about June the conservatory has leaked constantly. I have tried to ring representatives from first choice on over a 120 occasions without anyone getting back to me. after finally getting hold of someone and only today I was told that the fitters would be here to resolve the problem only to find that they are still in Yorkshire and knew nothing about this. I wouldn't recommend anyone to go with this company their after sales service is appaling nay none existent. My next choice of action is either watchdog or the small claims court please stay away from this company. In fact I have just received a phone call for the first time in 10 months with one of the managers asking me to apologise. Unbelievable.

If you chose to use this company make sure you know exactly who and what you are dealing with. It is not all it seems. The salesman did not advise us that they use a DIY conservatory system and used pressurised sales tactics to the point of demanding a decision and deposit in the same breath. Very difficult to communicate with once we agreed a deposit and once we had seen the light and requested our deposit back he insisted that we had to go ahead with the conservatory as it was already in production. After several sleepless nights we managed to secure the return of our deposit from direct4uconservatories who were very helpful and understanding. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THAT ANYONE SHOULD DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY WHATSOEVER as I wish I had never heard of them.

My daughter bought her conservatory from First Choice Conservatories in Addlestone Surrey. We found them through a webmaster site, and she and her husband signed up with them. Huge Mistake !!!!!! They promised it by December 16th and today is February 12th and still not satisfactorally finished. The actual conservatory itself is not too bad, but the builders made a couple of errors, the fitters did a bad job, and my daughter's boiler was switched off by a gas fitter I called in, because first choice had left a flue into the conservatory, promising to come straight back and fix it. There are 8 faults they know need fixing and have been promising for weeks to return , but they don't. You can NEVER get hold of anyone to speak to, just a call centre who say they will pass your message on. The project manager is unable to be contacted, I have resorted to getting hold of him through the direct conservatories 4 you number, thanks Sally. They never return any calls and I have literally made hundreds of calls over this. This has made me quite ill and I wish we had never heard of the company.

I wish I had never dealt with this company either. I can honestly it is the worst company I have ever had thr misfortunate to deal with. They promised me completion by the end of November and it's now the end of February. The project manager, is nothing but a liar and impossible to get hold off. I've been left with a leak for the two months and a flue that has not been fitted properly. We have had a catalogue of errors and nobody is dealing with anything. It's been relentless the phone calls and letters and not a single acknowledgment. The only action is to take them to court !!! I would never recommend this company to anyone!!!

This is an near copy of my comments above. More than just coincidence ?? I think so, dreadful company. DO NOT USE !!!!!!!
Written on: 01/03/2014
What we need to do is tops read these reviews and make people more aware but you can't do it on their website!! I'm at a loss as to what to do and would appreciate any advice or suggestions from anyone who has gone through the same!! These people don't realise they are dealing with people emotions and it's so stressful.
Written on: 01/03/2014
I can't even get their website online any more. I am going through direct conservatories 4u who supply the actual building to see what they can find out. I wondered if they have ceased trading !!!
Written on: 02/03/2014
I really wish I had read the reviews before having any dealings with this company. I hope other people are sensible enough to steer well clear
Written on: 03/03/2014
I am trying to pursue them for compensation, but their website seems to have vanished!!! Like you, I hope other people do more research than we obviously did. The more comments we can get on here, the more ammunition there is against them !!

Don't you think we should all get together and work as a team and get media attention on this company not just for ourselves but also for future customers.?
Written on: 18/03/2014
Yes, we should all get together. My son had a conservatory built through First Choice Conservatories and this was left unfinished,
Constant telephone calls to the MD who I believe left First Choice at Christmas and also to the now M.D and he too never ever returns phone calls or replies to e-mails. Totally disgusted with this Company and wished we had never chosen them.

I am another victim of First Choice Conservatories. My conservatory is still unfinished and have had to make hundreds of phone calls just to get it to the stage it's in right now, and that's dealing with the various trades myself. No one from First Choice Conservatories returns my phone calls or responds to my e-mails. The trades don't show up when they are supposed to be coming, just phone and say can they come the next day, or whenever, so you now have to re-schedule your own appointments which you had already changed to fit in with them and you can't get hold of First Choice. I too intend to sue them and it would be nice if we could all get together. My salesman who obviously has dropped off the face of the earth, and I'm now dealing with someone who I try to contact several times a day, to no avail, to see if my conservatory is actually going to be finished. In the meantime I have all the flooring, which I purchased, sitting around waiting to be installed after they have rectified the concrete base to the correct level. I have doubts if I will ever see or hear from them again as they have all my money as well. This company certainly needs to be shown up to the world so other people know to avoid them like the plague.

WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY UNDER FALSE PRETENCE. WILL NOT ANSWER YOUR CALLS OR LETTERS. THE OFFICE IS A SUMMER HOUSE 10' X 4'TUCKED AWAY ON A TRADING ESTATE. BEEN GIVEN A CONSERVATORY NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE. THE FLASHING IS NEAR ON USELESS, CAUSING MAJOR LEAKS TO PENETRATE WALLS. THE CEILING GLASS PANELS ARE NOT FULLY FITTED RESULTING IN LEAKS AND DRAUGHTS, AND SEVERAL OF THESE GLASS PANELS ARE NOT THE SPECIFICATION THAT WE PAID FOR.THE GUTTERING IS INCOMPLETE AND FREE STANDING, THEREFORE DANGEROUS AND NOT DOING WHAT IT IS SUPPOSED TO. THERE IS A DOOR STOP MISSING FROM THE PATIO DOOR WHICH AGAIN IS DANGEROUS AS SOMEONE COULD TRAP THEIR HANDS/FINGERS BETWEEN THE DOOR AND THE FRONT GLASS PANEL.DUE TO WATER PENETRATION THE CONSERVATORY REQUIRES REPLASTERING AND PAINTING.THE FIXING SCREWS ARE TOO LONG AND ARE VISIBLE ON THE OUTSIDE OF CONSERVATORY.

We bought our conservatory from First Choice Conservatories of Addlestone, Surrey. We had to pay the conservatory manufacturer, builder, the installer, the plasterer and the electrician directly, with only the final payment being made to First Choice. We are very pleased with the conservatory, the plastering is ok, and the electrics seem fine. However we have had a dreadful time chasing First Choice for the 10 year warranty. They never returned my phone calls, e-mails or text messages. I sought advice from Trading Standards and sent two recorded delivery letters to First Choice - both were returned to me by Royal Mail marked 'Not called for'. I contacted the conservatory manufacturer directly and they were very helpful, contacting First Choice themselves and finally, after they'd made thee attempts, I have received the warranty - albeit torn and very creased (I suspect not by Royal Mail). Why on earth did it take three months to send me this one sheet of A4 paper?
Written on: 22/01/2014
THE REASON FOR THE RETURN OF YOUR RECORDED LETTERS IS THE FACT THAT THEIR OFFICE IS A SUMMER HOUSE 10' X 4'
OLNY MAN WHEN THEY MARK UP THEIR NEXT INSTALLATION OR VICTIM!

In March 2014 we had conservatory delivered, along with the other 13 comments we also have the same problems. leaking and no response from First Choice. Although we did have a "roofer" come back three times ( "thirty years in the business") he has failed to correct the leak. He used rubberised flashing, any comments on using lead to solve the problem?. Contacted Direct Conservatories and Sally responded on our behalf. Does anyone know if they are trading as no accounts filed. Will appreciate your input on proceedings.

Great news. we had a visit from the roofer who came on Monday morning (bank holiday) and removed a blockage in the downpipe which flooded the channel and re-sealed the flashing with a blow torch. He said that lead was not necessary since new products are used now and that the flashing in place will do the job. We trust and hope that this will be the end of our troubles,we can but hope .
