“I would give them zero stars if I could”

I concur with everything that has been written in relation to how utterly rubbish this service is. I am not going to go into detail in relation to my case as it relates to a complicated corporate action in relation to a stock holding. But frankly I really wonder why I bothered wasting my time. The Ombudsman Service is clearly not fit for purpose and very obviously set up to take the side of the financial services providers. The reason that financial services have such a terrible reputation in this country is because - quite frankly - the industry is allowed to get away with murder because outfits like the Ombudsman are in their pockets and will never hold them to account. If you need to fight go directly to the courts and play the legal lottery instead. You've got a better chance than wasting time and effort with these bozos.

Have you accepted the FOS 'opinion' or have you rejected it within the 14 days they gave you? If you accepted their findings then it's binding for both sides and that's the end of it.
If you have rejected their findings then you now actually have the chance to challenge the Bank and get your grievance heard by a proper Judge in a real Court ! Use the Bankers Handbook COBS, published on the Financial Conduct Authority website. Sounds like the compensation source book or the market abuse regulation instrument might be a good start.
However - if you haven't acted by rejecting the FOS finding within 14 days, you gave their opinion the statue it didn't have before and accepted it to be legally binding. It will now be near impossible to get this agreement to be set aside, unless you can prove to a Judge that you were mislead - and the FOS always includes that their opinion becomes binding for both sides within 14 days of acceptance- (implied is that you must reject their opinion and that is set out in the small print you agree to have read when you lodged your complaint). Sorry - Bank wins / consumer loses - even with the law on the consumers side - because you agreed to their findings becoming lawful and now there is only one way for a judge to decide: that is to go with the FOS. Sorry to be blunt but next time read the small print. If you rejected their finding you can still get this wrong righted using law and the courts! Go for it!
