“Ferry 'Check in information' (disinformation)”

I would have given them 5 stars had it not been for the problem with the check in information. We were travelling from Trieste (Italy) to Rijeka (Croatia) to catch an overnight ferry booked through Direct Ferries. The bus we originally intended to catch, to make this connection, had been cancelled. The next bus got us into Rijeka exactly 2 hours before the ferry sailing time. It was at this point that my wife noticed the 'check in' information on the confirmation stated that we had to be on the ferry a full 2 hours before sailing or we may lose our place and there would be no refund. We had no idea where the bus stop and the ferry port in Rijeka were located, but it was obvious that we would not make it in time. We contacted Direct Ferries by telephone from Trieste. It took about 10 minutes before we got to talk to someone. The best they could offer was to email the ferry company. We set off on what could have been a very enjoyable bus journey, completely ruined by the fact we were going to miss our ferry. When we got to Rijeka we had a 20 minute walk, with baggage and in 30 degree heat, to the ferry terminal. When we arrived at the booking office to ask for our tickets we were told that we could board up to 5 minutes before sailing!!! My point is this; Don't print inaccurate information on the confirmation. If you don't know, say you don't know! I would like to thank Direct Ferries for the following: An expensive telephone call. A ruined leg of our journey. A near heart attack. And lastly, blisters that took 3 days to heal. Other than this, I would highly recommend this company but check for yourself the boarding times. Thank you for a useful review! I was about to turn up two hours early for my trip from Corsica to Nice when I came across your post. Checked with the ferry company which only required check in 30 minutes before departure. When the ferry leaves at 7 in the morning this makes a huge difference!

Anyone have contact details for direct ferries that works at the weekend? There is one but you only have it if you have a ticket. My parents are in France, Dad's had a heart attack and mum wants me to change the booking. She's stressed out, doesn't have info with her and doesn't want to leave Dad too get it so I am struggling to find a way to do it. Can anyone help?
