We bought the R8 experience for our son as a Birthday Gift. As we live close to the track, getting there and getting booked in was easy although the queue of people was a little off-putting. Worst of all - my son got to the booking in desk and was getting pressure sales to pay £25 to cover possible damage to the car! You are having a laugh! 'Here's your birthday gift son and by the way, you now need to pay £25' The £25 is not refundable should you manage to go around a race track for 15 minutes, with an instructor, without hitting anything. I would bloody hope so. And what does this £25 cover? - "oh damage to the car as they are high spec and if you damage a wing mirror it will cost you £5000 so the £25 will cover that and the track is a bit bad today because of the weather".....so, 6th Gear want you to pay their public liability insurance?! And what happens if you total their £200,000 car - don't worry, you've paid £25 cover so will only need to pay them £195,000..sure ;P
I hate hidden costs and worst of all, the bull by staff who only want the extra cash. P.S. don't get suckered into getting a £25 photo either - it probably costs them pennies and the quality isn't too good either. Although my lad enjoyed the drive, the bull has made the experience rather sour and not worthy of recommendation.
