I really regret I decided to rent a room with that agency despite all bad comments I read on Internet about them. If you are in such a situation now - do not rent! In a nutshell: after seeing a room that I liked and agreeing on a temporary accommodation for first two weeks I didn't get to see the room of my choice never again and was forced to stay in that terrible temporary place for 6 months. I was silly to sign a contract with the different address because I trusted them and a little hand written note "to be relocated for free after two weeks". They had always excuses similar to: "we adjusted your rent", "your room might be free in three months", "you agreed on these terms" or finally such a bizarre statement like "you should be happy in the place you are. Big kitchen is not that important". Never again in my life will I rent anything with City Rooms. The level of absurd in our conversations was just unbelievable. I will leave the conditions of flats aside as one might say that you take what you see. It is worth noting though that I was living in 6 even though I was told the flat is for 5 tenants... Again - do not use their service under any circumstances!!!

First of all..... AVOID THIS LANDLORD AT ALL COSTS. It may seem tempting to get a room with them as the seem quite easy, and they do have variety and their adverts are misleadingly good. I went as I was desperate for a room but I would rather be on the street than pay money to them. HOWEVER, don't be tricked into it. If i could go back and avoid i 100% would. They are nice until they get hold of your money, and then you're trapped! You get charged unnecessary fees, don't fix urgent problems in the accommodation and they are impossible to get accurate answers from. They lie, lie, lie LIE constantly. Please read through all of the reviews. All of the good reviews are FAKE. they have been written by members of staff as they have such a low rating, or they even offer tenants rent reductions in order to write good reviews?! It should be illegal what they do, they are all criminals! Please avoid, i went through months of hell and I would hate for other people to go through what i did. And your deposit...FORGET you never gona give it back

Hi, I advise everyone who wants to get a flat to think about it for 20 times! It is my worst experience, I could not imagine it was possible to live it. Lot of lies about the flat, the area, the number of people who is in the flat and nothing is as in the pictures (They know how to take it, everything seems really nice in the pictures). I would like to find a positive thing to say but I am not able to do it ! They do not care about the issues.. It could be a really good experience for them to live what their (or some of them) renters are living.. We send approximately 10 mails regarding our problems with the WiFi, nothing changed and they have stopped to reply to our mails. Quality of service ----> 0 You are their best friends till you sign the contract.. When it is done.. They do not care anymore about you Are you desperate ? Do you absolutely need a place to sleep tonight ? Trust me.. You have better time to get an hostal for a few days!! Yes it is more expansive but healthier.. You will not have to "fight" for 3 - 6 - 10 or 12 months. I hope my review will be useful to someone. Really disappointed from City rooms!

We were ripped off by The City Rooms. EVERY single 5 star review online is fake. Click on the name of the reviews that are 5 star and look at the profile. It was created by staff and they have only posted 1 review. They stole £2300 (holding deposit and 5 weeks rent in advance) when we viewed a room we had only been shown pictures of. It turned out to be a run down council flat not even worth £90 per week which we were being charged £230 a week. We are in the process of getting legal action and emails have been sent to London Mayor, Tower Hamlets Council and many media agencies. BE WARNED. DO NOT TOUCH THEM NO MATTER HOW DESPERATE YOU ARE.

I've signed a contract for a year with this agency as they seemed to care for their customers. As I was in a hurry I did not check the reviews and only later realized I should've done so before. They showed me one room which I liked and were helpful with me moving in and from what it seemed also quite flexible. Even though they claim to have "all bills incl." this is not the truth: In the contract it states that you only are allowed to go up to a certain amount on gas and electricity, everything over that you have to pay yourself - when I asked the tenancy manager about that he says that noone ever reaches that limit so I won't have to pay any of the bills. That was a definite lie - my flatmates and I regularly had to pay electricity bills on top of our rent as the amount the agency allowed was by far not enough (We were all working 50hours/week and hardly home on the weekends so there is no chance of us going crazy with the bills.) When I signed the contract I was really rushed by the people who deal with the contract and your money, had no proper time to read through the contract and was urged to sign immediately so they can all go home. They were required to send me confirmation of my deposit being kept with a deposit protection scheme within a month - however that confirmation took about 3 months to reach me. After a month of moving in my flatmates and I complained about the issues in the flat: - The water in the kitchen sink was not running off - Mould in the bathroom - The broken oven exhaustion fan - a hole in the bathroom wall - the extremly poor wifi The agency claimed to have repaired all of these issues when in fact none of them were repaired. After we all had a meeting with the Senior Manager to complain about their reluctant communication and lies he said they won't repair it any further as those issues do not affect our life there. When we complained about our fridge not working properly (our food got moldy as if we wouldn't refrigerate it) they said it is "overfilled". After the fridge completely broke, it took them three weeks to repair it - and only after I threatened to take legal action if they fail to do so. When I asked for a refund as we lost food worth a lot and had to deal with lots of issues to get the fridge repaired, Jorge laughed in my face and said this is no reason for a refund. However, in the end we had three fridges in the flat - two of which were not used (or broken - they just lie in the flat, taking away our storage space - plus a lot of trash in the storage rooms left behind by someone.) The people dealing with your contract and money are extremly unfriendly and unhelpful. They told me it will take 2-5 weeks to refund my deposit. Only after I reminded them that they are legally required to transfer my money back within 10 days they managed to get it back to me. The photos they have of the flats are about 5 years old and show a different state of what the flats actually look like. Within the 9 months of living there they have not managed to repair any of the mentioned issues and have constantly ignored emails asking for repairs or information. Fortunately I have found a replacement and moved out - of course not without paying a contract breaking fee. If you want to live in a peaceful environment avoid this agency, they are liars and should be banned from doing business.

The City Rooms has been very helpful for me during the whole renting process, and I really appreciated their attention and assistance. Despite the first impression was not very good, due to the reference letter requirement and the holding deposit that they asked me to pay, once I moved in to my new room the service was very good! Thankfully I got in contact with Stefano who was willing to deal with me since the first beginning. He was fantastic during the whole process, very kind and professional. He offered me a wide range of rooms, and we organized as much viewings as I wanted. He explained all the details and conditions in a really transparent way. He also informed me about the neighborhood, the transportation links, and the amenities located near the house ( as it was my first time living in London, I was a little bit lost … ). When I decided to take the room, the administrative process was quick and I move in the room within the same week. After some months living in the property, I had some problems with the maintenance but as soon as I reported it to them, they fixed it quickly. Stefano helped me in everything I needed, answering to my calls and I also have to say that my flatmates were tidy, clean and friendly people. All young professional we had an excellent relation living together. After my experience with the agency, I would definitely recommend it to anyone who just arrived in London and is looking for a room in the area!
