“Do Not Use”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Whitehead1950 on 04/03/2024

Do not use Express Estate Agency. Yes, it may sell property quickly, however it’s service post sale is shambolic. Our experience resulted in a referral to the Property Ombudsman which upheld a number of our complaints. EEA treats its clients with disrespect with its staff being incompetent, obstructive and disinterested. Be careful in your choice of conveyancing solicitors working with EEA, again our experience is poor and should not be repeated.

“Too long, too boring”

★☆☆☆☆

written by KevinBallard96 on 23/08/2023

Express Estate Agency was a lovely spoken and respectful young lady. However, despite previously telling her i was 71 and not tech savvy and didnt want to have an online conversation, i was pressed to have a 'time slot' and being respectful i kept it, and clicked on the email she sent me and lo and behold it was a video meeting, which kept freezing. I had to go through all the pictures of my home that my estate agent had put on, and there were 37, yet she after each one of the first 4 kept saying that they had been taken at a wrong angle, until i explained that there are 37 pictures and she would see the other angles of the same rooms later. I felt there was a pushing of 'advertising'. During the conversation despite telling her that i was aware of the research of buyers in my area that i had done myself, i was taken to a page on a website that showed the potential of 18,000 buyers which was complete rubbish when real research has been done. Overall i think the experience left me feeling tricked, as their letter to me had been about making me an offer for my house, but the video call was about me letting them advertise my house. The word advertising was used often. Sorry but you are lovely but your conversation is too corporate, too robotic and too big sell. You were unfortunate enough to get a 71 yr old ex marketing agent and ex small property developer. make it more real and more honest.

“selling my house”

written by Riebe on 23/08/2023

I have been working with an agent . She appears to be a very good sales persob but she isn't. I have been given a mobile phone number (by herself) but your receptionist tells me she never answers that phone as I now know. You (by law) have a 28 day cooling off period and I'm seriously considering calling the whole deal off. If I'm not contacted by the end of the week 25th August consider me cacelled.

“Waste of time”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 999Jacko999 on 14/08/2023

Indicative of lousy professional setup when no one could be bothered to attend the online video presentation - wasted 20 minutes waiting for someone to logon and present the alleged 1 hour of previously prepared information. Then to be asked how the presentaion went...!? - with no supervisor knowledge of the fact that nothing took place, you have to wonder if they could handle anything responsibly.

“Waste of time”

written by Bumblebee50 on 04/07/2023

I got a phone call. Had a good chat and I was impressed. Told her I would have to speak to my partner and she said she would ring the next morning. NO phone call. I rang Express and twice when I got through the phone was put down. If they cannot even make a phone call after prior arrangements then that does not bode well for them professionally. This prompted me to look at the reviews. I am glad I did because I was going to put our house on the market with them but now glad I didn’t.

“We waited, and waited, and waited for the 5pm...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 24/04/2023

We waited, and waited, and waited for the 5pm appointment to be triggered but no one was present. No apology. No request to rearrange. Just a waste of our time. Very poor. Sorry. Sometimes stuff happens and meetings can’t be kept. But an apology is all that is required. Tried to phone the Express offices - no one answered. This was our introduction to the agency. We have, sadly, lost faith in their business standards.

“Misrepresenting ”

I think the whole thing is utter misrepresentation Just another agent wanting to sell my house And saying there’d pay £120,000 for a £600,000 house Total waste of time and I’m considering complaining to Advertising standards

“Unprofessional behaviour ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 15/01/2023

We wanted to purchase a property and Georgina Partner was the agent. We found her customer services disgraceful. She rushed us to provide her with deposit and solicitors details once the vendor had accepted our offer. However, the vendor was never actually made aware of our offer. This we found out later on by our own means. She played with the fact that we had an offer accepted to get our personal documents. But actually used this to get someone else to buy the property for a higher amount. We feel very uncomfortable giving our details to a company that did not need our personal documents at all. When there was actually no sstc in place. It’s disgusting behaviour and we feel messed around with. We would like confirmation that our details have been permanently removed and the company needs to look into how they let their employees treat potential buyers. I will make sure this terrible experience is known about on social media. This is very unprofessional.

“Waste of time”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Cuntseye on 10/11/2022

They told me they were the new way of selling a property and my flat wouldn't be a problem. When I tried to phone them the first time after I registered I got through on the twelfth attempt to be told that because their system was recognising my number it won't go through as a new call but would go to the desk of my "nominated" agent who wasn't there !!! In the 3 months I was with them they got me 0 viewings, yes not one single viewing. However I did get a regular statistical update which showed one viewing but was told that was when the person went round to do the video. Later on the stats showed two more phantom viewings. Express were a complete waste of time please don't waste yours on them.

“Utterly shambolic”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 236MB on 26/10/2022

Arranged for an appointment for Tuesday 25th, yet I got booked in for Wednesday 26th. Having spoken to an agent on the 25th saying I will have to attend the meeting on the 26th being as they can't now accommodate me on the 25th. The meeting came around on the 26th and no one would answer the meeting on their end. I rang and spoke to the agent again who passed me onto another agent who said she would email all off the valuation staff immediately and get someone to call me ASAP (I advised I was free until 15.00pm and she said 'perfect'). The time is now 16:20, I still have not heard from anyone yet I have been asked to rate my call with a third agent... ?? Appalling organisation, great at time wasting.

Waited all day for the appointment, clicked onto the link and it did not work. I then called through to their main line, a gentleman advised me it would be sorted instantly, another link would be sent for the appointment and the same time would be kept. I did not even hear a response. Waited all day! Waste of time. Very unprofessional.

“Fake company. Full of half truths”

★☆☆☆☆

written by ColeBoyle on 19/08/2022

I got a letter in the post saying they saw my house on sale and that they could give me cash for the house. I got interested though a bit sceptical, I contacted them and it seemed more like they wanted to help sell the property but those was not the information they passed on the letter. They just took my details and ended up wasting my time. Really annoying.

“ I idea who the person is I have been asked to review! ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by MylesKelley on 15/08/2022

I was meant to have a video call today after being left in the waiting room for 40 minutes after my appointment time I called the office, appointment has been re arranged, I then received a text message asking me to leave a review after my call with her today, this is a review against the company not the people I have mentioned as I haven’t had meetings with either of them so as a business I would suggest they get their act together!

“WASTE OF TIME ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 20/07/2022

Post you a letter with a guaranteed sale price range. Organise a video call to provide you with their 'detailed' research file. He was 7 minutes late, didn't research property at all, not one bit. He blamed his other department and said there is 'no way' they would give what they quoted on their enticement letter. Bodged appointment time 3 times apparently due to 'booking system error'. Unprofessional and quite shambolic in approach. Wasted my time and not impressed.

Did using an online agent work out more beneficial than using a local agent and if so in what way(s)? Were you locked into a contract for a period - how long? What commission was charged? Would you have changed anything or done anything different? Thank you.

Didn't help us but yes you are locked into a contract, can't remember commission but as we were no sale no fee we just waited till the contract period was over and pulled out, just was a waste of time. We have gone to a local agent who has no contract and we can walk away at any time, no sale no fee and the charge if they sell is only 1% plus they have a shop in the local town to us and they also advertise on Zoopla and Rightmove etc - so all we lost out on was time, still not sold though. Express did give us false hope however as the valuer valued the house 10k higher, so we are now at a more realistic price of 120k, fingers crossed!! If we had known we would have gone to a local agent in the first place, express are very good at selling themselves but not sure if they are any good at selling houses, your guess!!

It did in as much as we'd been with 3 local estate agents for a period of 3 years without a sale and with Express we sold within a few months. Yes you are locked in for a period of time, I can't recall how long, but they will tell you that up front. The commission was more or less the same as the local agents would have charged for a sale. We even had to pay one local agent to 'get out' even though they'd failed to get a sale in over 3 years. The Market has picked up since we sold August/October 2013 but I was happy with Express. I think it's all down to individual circumstances, properties, locations and Estate Agents but Express did a good job for us.

The whole process was very quick. Had it not been for Christmas holidays when everything shut down, it would have taken 6 weeks. A fee was agreed when the final offer was accepted which included commission. I did manage to negotiate too on fees. I used the Express Agency solicitors too and all in all, the total fee equated with what I would have paid a local agent and solicitor.. I did feel that I had to answer lots of questions and fill in quite a lot of paper work for the legal team and submit scans/ copies of necessary information which maybe would have been done by a local solicitor if I had used one. I also had to pay postage costs to submit this paperwork. I had tried previously to sell the propety with a local agent and got nowhere fast. At the end of the day I got a quick sale and the price I wanted for my property.

I found them to be ok just very expensive i was charged £3000. yes you are locked into a contract. they did sell my house for me, but convinced me to sell it for £10000 less than the house next door which sold at the same time and was virtually identical to my house he use a traditional estate agent. i did get quite a lot of viewings but nearly all just tyre kickers but i got one or two offers . they are really good on the phone and they are good at getting back to you and they really friendly. it is far too expensive for what you get but overall not a bad service.

We were buying not selling, all I can say is if you are buying through them they have an excellent service, keeping us updated and chasing for us, we had a dedicated person to contact. They are so much better than other estate agents we have used in the buying process. Unfortunately, I haven't used them for selling so cannot say.
