S&m Is A Great Concert. Metallica Shows There Able
S&M is a great concert. Metallica shows there able to recreate their songs with the Bay Area Orchestra.
GOOD POINTS:
Unique songs like No Leaf Clover and nice adds of music by Michael Kamen. The voice of James is stable here and Jason does some mindblowing backing vocals on Fuel, Battery and Enter Sandman. Good sound.
BAD POINTS:
many rock songs from Load and ReLoad like Devil's Dance and Fuel. Only a few songs from the Golden Age of Metallica.
Still al verry good CD and one great concert. I would buy it if I didn't have it already

Many People Have Derided Metallica, S&m , But They
Many people have derided Metallica, S&M , but they are basing their views on narrow arguements. The fact is that this was an experiment and it worked perfectly. Most songs sound significantly different and better with the addition of the San Fransico Symphony, especially The Call Of Ktulu, wow a now amazing song, rightfully winning a grammy for the best rock instrumental in 2000. Michael Kamen does a great job with the orchestral scores, making the symphony's music contribute much to songs like The Call Of Ktulu, Master Of Puppets, Bleeding Me, One and Enter Sandman. In my opinion this is the best Metallica album, as it presents a whole new and great sound for the band, which is still hard, melodic and powerful. It is as though Michael Kamen has harnessed the essence of each song and is releasing it through the orchestra while Metallica are producing their best renditions of their songs. The fact that it makes the studio versions of the songs sound plain is a great achievement. (Except for Nothing Else Matters, which James butchers with the lack of passion in his singing.) Buy this album, you wont be disappointed.
Best Songs: The Call Of Ktulu, No Leaf Clover, Bleeding Me, One, Enter Sandman
Worst Songs: The Memory Remains, Fuel, Devil's Dance
