I Have Been Here Twice, The First Time For Dinner
I have been here twice, the first time for dinner with a friend. We sat on the second floor during a busy dinner session and had great service, good food. I had only one course, risotto, and we shared a bottle of wine. We had a nice time and I had no complaints.
I returned just this week on a whim; my friend and I were shopping in the grassmarket and saw that they had a lunch special. We went a bit late, not having watches on, so in the server's defense, we were probably horrible to be there when we were! (I have been a waitress before, so I try to be nice about these things NEVER go and ask to be seated at a restaurant 15 minutes before closing. So rude.) Our food came fast...our first course was a goat cheese and spinach tartlet on puff pastry, which was very tasty, but could have possibly been warmer. We both ordered the curry as our second course and it was just the right temperature, and also YUMMY! it was delicately flavoured with coconut and all sorts of winter vegetables. We did have to order some rice to go with it, but we shared one bowl and it was more than enough.
The bread served was also very tasty and tasted freshly made, although it wasn't warm.
We had a nice meal, tucked into a corner, and although our server was very busy doing closing tasks as we ate, she made sure that we always had water and bread and she had her eye on us and came right over when I had a question.
I would go back again.

I Had A Wonderful Meal At Maison Bleue At The Week
I had a wonderful meal at Maison Bleue at the weekend. I have eaten here several times and always book a table if I know I'm going to be in Edinburgh for the night. We had a very polite and helpful waiter who explained the menu to us, we each had a fantastic three course meal and were very pleasantly surprised with the bill at the end of the night. The only negative would be a very rude blonde waitress who practically dropped our plates onto the table (they were quite hot), causing the cutlery to ping over the table and onto my boyfriend's lap without apologising. In fact, we didn't see her smile once all night but I can't let that detract from the wonderful food, great atmopshere and very friendly waiter we had for the rest of the evening. It was a perfect meal. I would highly recommend it.

My Girlfriend And I Read Positive Reviews Of Maiso
My girlfriend and I read positive reviews of Maison Bleue Restaurant, and so we booked a table for dinner. This turned out to be a mistake, and we would advise that you read this review then decide whether you'd like to be treated as we were.
We bought a bottle of wine and a two-course meal each. At the end of the meal, my partner made it known to our waitress that her food had not really been up to the standard she had expected. Both of our courses had been lukewarm at best, but my partner's salmon was very hard on the outside, indicating that it had been overdone.
The waitress apologised, and passed this feedback on to the manager. He arrived, without introducing himself,
claiming that he had tested the salmon with a fork, and found it to be
fine. He also said that most of it had been eaten. In no way did he take
my partner's comments on board - choosing instead to aggressively argue the point.
This upset my partner, so once again, she asked the manager when he passed by why
he did not accept her comments. In our initial conversation, he stated
that he never, ever received negative feedback. But this second time we
spoke to him, he said that "I get this ten times a day". Sadly his
parting comment was even less articulate - a wave of his hand and "I can't be
arsed with this", before taking our bill away for payment. This in front
of a room full of diners, on one of the busiest weekends of the year.
Initially, we commented about the food being of a standard less than
expected. But because of the manager's poor handling of the situation, it turned
into something much uglier, with the manager insulting a customer in front
of a full restaurant. So poor was his behaviour that a German couple on
the table next to us suggested to our waitress that we should not have to pay
for our meal. But this was the manager's decision to take, not hers. We paid and left.
Worse still, I have since emailed the owner and written to him twice to ask what he thought of his manager's behaviour. I haven't received a reply, and needless to say will not be returning. Edinburgh has a lot of fantastic restaurants, with polite staff and amazing food. This wasn't one of them.
I found this review helpful because it spelled out clearly what the problem was, in particular lousy customer service.
