When I First Heard The Concept Of Dante's Inferno
When I first heard the concept of Dante's Inferno I was hooked. I love the vision of fighting through the realms of hell and had high hopes for an addictive and stunning looking game having seen screenshots. However I recently played the demo version and boy was I shocked. Visually it looks pretty amazing with crisp full colour graphics and great cut scenes (of what I saw) but when it came to gameplay I am let down.
It is straight into the action with button bashing, yup it's pretty much a three button affair. Heavy attack, soft attack and dodge (or strafe which is odd as you sweep across the screen in a very unrealistic fashion). Within 2 mins of constant hack and slash my thumbs hurt. I hoped that this would be more of an adventure game but it's pretty much a beat 'em up with a pretty background. I'd probably pay 50p to play in an arcade but not 40 odd quid to play at home...and there was me thinking game play had moved on (if Street Fighter can manage to make fighting a bit more fun then...)
