Far Cry Was A Huge Hit For The Original Xbox, Gain
Far Cry was a huge hit for the original Xbox, gaining many followers and indeed potential consumers, they are about to get very angry.
I, like others, looked forward to this game a lot, so I bought it, put it in the machine, the menu seemed nice and well thought out, then the game actually started. I thought I was going to get Xbox far cry but with funky new controls, what I got was controls that make life a lot harder by not doing what you want, bad graphics that make it hard to see where to go or even who's shooting at you, most boring colour scheme and no incentive to play.
One feature of Far Cry is the ability to drive vehicles while shooting, its a struggle to do both, the controls are that bad during this section that you just want to park up, get out, and go home.
I'm not even going to bother with the multiplayer as you're best off forgetting it exists, you will thank me.
A lot of the things I have mentioned are, to be honest, very annoying but in a strange way could be over-looked if the game had great sound, great collision detection and, well, some oooomph. It has none of these and really is the final nail in its coffin.
Overall, I have played worse, but certainly not in the last 6 years or so. I have given it a 5 for value, as you can get it very cheap online, but whether you consider it a bargain depends on if you feel ripped off when you play it. The fact that there is much better shooters on the Wii in the form of Red Steel, Call of duty 3 and the forthcoming Medal of Honor: Heroes 2, far cry vengeance is best avoided.
