Bought This Panasonic Tx36pb50 Just Over A Year Ag

Bought this Panasonic TX36PB50 just over a year ago, and have been very impressed with it. The 100MHz Picture Quality is superb, and it has some nice features such as:

Dual tuner options - there are about 4 options, including Picture in picture, two different options for having two pictures displayed side-by-side, and Picture and Text.

Automatic Aspect ratio change - it will detect the size of the picture being displayed, and select 16:9, 14:9, or Standard TV. (It does occassionally get it wrong, for example if you watch CNN, which tends to have borders top and bottom with titles in, it sometimes thinks its 16:9 rather than 14:9, and chops off the titles - overriding it is a matter of pressing the "Aspect" button a couple of times, though, so it's not a big deal).

DTS & Dolby Digital Sound Built-in.

My only gripes are:

- The lack of outputs for external front speakers and subwoofer - you have to use the built-in speakers, unless you have use a seperate Amp.

- The fact that occasionally it's not possible to turn off the TV from the remote - the LED on the TV flashes, but it doesn't switch off. This only developed once the 12 month guarantee had expired, of course.

I have the 32" model and the problem you mention regarding turning the tv off from the remote, might not be a fault.

On mine, I have to keep the off button on the remote pushed in for about 1-2 second, not just a single press and release. I think this is a good idea, as it prevents you turning it off by accident. If that doesn't work, then yes you have a fault.

As for the TV, the 32" version is just great, although I would have liked the 36" but then it was too much money.

Purchased This Tv Due To Not Wanting A Dts Decoder

Purchased this TV due to not wanting a DTS decoder cluttering up the space under the TV. As this telesion has a built in decoder I thought that I would give it a try. Could not find any local stockist so read several god reviews and bit the bullet and ordered it. Have not regreted it yet, used as a CCTV monitor via the PIP. This is the best TV that I have ever owned, it looks and sounds great. But be warned you will not be able to move it by yourself....
