Although The Goodmans Gdb5 Is Pleasing To The Eye,
Although the Goodmans GDB5 is pleasing to the eye, this model leaves a lot to be desired, if all you want is good picture, sound and a teletext service. Not recommended.
Always updates software at approx. 3am. Haven't found instructions to stop that, especially if you are recording a programme at that time!!
If you are a frequent TELETEXT user, this receiver is SLOW,SLOW,SLOW!!!!!!!
Terrestrial Teletext is faster.
If watching sports results on teletext that need updating, the receiver often crashes!!
Would not recommend for the price.

The Goodmans Gdb5 Freeview Box Is Superb Value For
The Goodmans GDB5 freeview box is superb value for money for £25. You get Freeview with 7 day EPG, as well as DAB.
Don't buy this if you have a 4:3 TV and want to watch widescreen content in letterbox - some programs go to 14:9 rather than 16:9, and 16:9 programs are actually squashed a bit rather than true 16:9 letterbox like my old freeview box.
Overall, it is an excellent box, and my only gripe is that it doesn't handle letterbox well on a 4:3 TV.
I'd sure like to know how you manage 7 day EPG, when my unit only gives Now & Next. It also loses all program info around the midnight hour, and only recovers the info after 1am. This unit is the second one I have had from Argos, and both appear to be the same. I would not recommend the Goodmans GDB5 model as a "BUY" to anyone. My friends Sagem [from Argos] at a similar price is a superior unit.
