Can anyone tell me if I can change the settings of my Starmedia DVD-4022 so that I can watch movies with subtitles? Is there a software update available for this player to fix this problem?

Thanks,

I'm Very Pleased With The Analog Audio Outputs On

I'm very pleased with the analog audio outputs on the Starmedia DVD 4022 DVD player.

I have two older amplifiers and an active subwoofer connected and it sounds extremely good for the price.

I like the fact that the Dynamic Range Compression can be switched off for those true Cinema dynamics.

On the dissapointing side the VGA Output allows my Computer monitor to switch off! So I assume its not sending a an "ON" signal to the monitor. Anyone know what to do ?

I've also read that the VGA conector can drive a Plasma screen directly.

Its also good with all the different disc makes I've fed it - no problems there either.

So if you've got some good analog amps lying around and don't want a cheap all in wonder go for this one!

I Bought Starmedia Dvd Player 3023. I Tried Severa

I bought Starmedia DVD player 3023. I tried several DVDs on it but it gives all other sounds except human voices. Some of the DVDs have movie clips (ads) from different movies besides the main movie on same DVD. Those movie clips can be heard perfectly with all sounds but main movie has problem indicated above. Please suggest to me immediately as I have to now decide whether I should return back the DVD player.

I Have A Starmedia 4022 Dvd Player And Have Found

I have a StarMedia 4022 DVD player and have found in most areas it to be a very good, reliable player. There is one area that I'm having a problem with and I haven't been able to find a solution. I don't even know if it is just this machine, or a general problem, or something I'm doing wrong. On certain DVD's, usually the more 'loaded' ones, the sound won't play. To be more specific, the background sound is fine, but the dialogue is very muted. Other DVD's have the same problem, but all I have to do is push the language button on the remote to switch to English. And some DVDs play just fine. I have everything in setup set to English language...so I'm stumped. If anyone has a solution, please let me know.

Thorsten.

Hello,

try this:

Set in "Speaker Setup page" DOWNMIX to stereo. Otherwise you cannot hear the center speaker channel (usually used for voice) if your dvd is recorded in Dolby Digital and you have not connected 5 or 6 speakers.

Hope I could help you.

Kind regards, Thorsten.
