Plays Dvd-r Disc's And Everything I Can Throw At I
Plays dvd-r disc's and everything i can throw at it. Its basically a yelo800 name change. I can see no difference between it and the kiiro x8 except the design of the dvd box. You can upgrade the player by firmware updates.
However it is let down on two fronts no firmware cd is encluded in the box, you have either to ask kiiro for it or download it from the internet.

Poor Response From Kiiro When Approached On The Su
Poor response from kiiro when approached on the subject (of playing DVD-R format discs-see bad points). To make matters worse i saw a website selling it for £109 inc vat when i had paid £185 for it !!!

Could you be more specific about which media you have found will/won't work on the X5, please? I see on another site that the following are supposedly ok
• Lynx Digital Branded/Inkjet DVD-R
• FWS Branded x1 Speed DVD-R
• Datawrite Branded x2.4 DVD+R Speed
• Lynx Digital Inkjet x2.4 DVD+R Speed
• Verbatim, Pioneer & Apple Media DVD±R

• Pioneer DVD-RW 4.7GB
• White Label DVD-RW 4.7GB
• Lynx Digital x2.4 DVD+RW Speed
Although with a caveat that, even using these brands, individual disks may not work 100%, 100% of the time!
Im very sure mate! I rang them 1st obviously to find out - I was promised technical info from Kiiro which didnt come despite several emails and more phone calls. Finally worked it out for myself in the end though... Media Type! and like u said, not Kiiros fault...just the guy at Kiiro i was dealing with, who didnt know a whole lot. (i now give this machine an 8/10)
Huh, are you sure mate?! I've got one of these myself and nowhere on the box does it even claim to play DVD-R discs - So what made you think it would do?!
It's certainly not Kiiro's fault, if you've actually taken this for granted & not bothered to read the specs first!
