This Is An Okay Player, Based On What Is Available
This is an okay player, based on what is available now. At the time it came out it was great. As far as overheating, I found that if I had this setting on top of the TV (25" direct view), it would only play one movie (if that) before it overheated and skipped. Once I moved it to my entertainment center, it worked great. It does have one flaw in its programming, though. I now have a 16:9 HDTV. The menu settings on the player are supposed to adjust to the "widescreen" format but do not. If I watch a DVD in WIDESCREEN mode with the TV set to the WIDESCREEN format, the menu items are off the screen. Other DVD players adjust accordingly and move the menu position to the correct location for using WIDECREEN format.

The Ge1105p Dvd Player From Ge Overheats Because I
The GE1105P DVD player from GE overheats because it is completely sealed. Vent holes (power drill & drill bit, take cover off before drilling) and a cpu fan are about the only way you can fix the over heating beast!
Nice try GE maybe you will get it right someday!
i have the GE 1105p DVD player & it is over heating. & i was wondering where would i hook the cpu fan wires up to up

This Ge 1105p Was A Good Dvd Player When We First
This GE 1105P was a good DVD player when we first got it. It is almost 3 years old now and I have to watch Movies In 3 parts besause the player overheats and starts skipping. It has no vents in the cover so once it runs 30 minutes or so I have to shut it off about an hour. The player worked fine til about 6 months ago so I guess we got our moneys worth out of it. It has played movies about 6 days a week. We payed $150 for it and got 5 free dvds with it.

I Don't Know Why Other Peoples Ge 1105p Dvd Pla
I don't know why other peoples GE 1105P DVD players have broken down after only a year or so down the road... But for me it has been a plesant experience. Everything worked as they should for 3 years now. The player was $170 at the local bestbuy store when dvd players were just coming out.
I've used it to play dvds and tons of vcds and some music cds. Everything has worked great. The outputs weren't as fully featured as some other players were. But you have to take in consideration the fact that this dvd player came out when other models were costing $300. And to be fair, all the essential outputs and features were included, as this player fulfils the need of the consumer who wanted a budget player.
The Dolby digital on the optical cable through my reciever has produced stunning results... I've now go to the theaters half as much as I use to because of this. I used s-video to connect this player to my toshiba 32 in tv, and optical to connect to my technics reciever (no dts), and I've got the HC2 acoustic research speaker package for the sound output.
Only thing that bothers me is the fact that the manual says the player may erase data on cd-r discs... CD-Rs work great on these players though. I haven't got definite proof that the player harms cd-rs ... yet
I Have To Agree With The Previous Commentor On The
I have to agree with the previous commentor on the GE 1105P DVD player. We've had it for a year or so, and it's shown the same results. It'll play once in a great while for the full entire movie, and then some after promptly die.
Some discs it won't even make it half-way or even quarter-way and it will freeze up and refuse to play until it's had a cool-down period.
The quality of this product was good until the year expired, then it went downhill.

I Bought This Ge1105p Dvd Player Three Years Ago A
I bought this GE1105P DVD player three years ago and it cost me over 225 dollars and it wasn't worth it. It played good for about a year then at the second year it could only play one movie in a row. If I played more then one in a row then it'll freeze up and then stop. After 2 years it would only play for about 45 minutes then would freeze or stop every minute or so. Now it can play for not even a good 20 minutes. It's a bad dvd player and it should of lasted longer if it's going to cost so much. Now you can get a good dvd player for about 100 dollars. I'm so angry!
