I Do Not Think That This Is A Good Camera

My dad bought me the camera about 3 weeks ago and I think it's just horrible. It's not light weight the battery dies before I can even take any pictures with it. I think the only good thing about the camera is the resolution night mode isn't so good nor is the flash. Every time I use it or even hold it my wrist starts to hurt and that's not what I want from a camera and it's also to big I can't fit it in my pocket or carry it on my wrist to well. I do not recommend this camera not even to a person I hate.

Whoever Wrote He Deleted 50 Images By Accident Is

Whoever wrote he deleted 50 images by accident is an idiot. You have to go thru very specific steps to delete all the images at once.

Having travelled thru Africa, US, Europe in the last 3 years I have taken this little marvel every time and it has not let me down. I hope to use it at least another 3 years. I bought the marine pack and most others accessories for it - it's simply a great camera.

The only way I can figure that he erased those 50 pictures at the same time is to reformat the memory stick, while it was in the camera. That will wipe the stick clean so it can be reused. I had to reformat one of my sticks, which had developed a glitch in it. But, that does erase the whole stick in one fell swoop.

I bought this camera in June 2001. Up to now I'm mostly happy with this camera.

But you normally cannot find a lot of really unacceptable things in the press or in the internet.

So I wrote all the bad thinks together. I have made round about 2800 3.3M pictures in the past.

At the moment I cannot advise this camera. A mass memory like a harddisk is not available.

The memory sticks are 100% more expensive in Switzerland/Germany that all other medias.

And if you want to change your camera you can throw your old (expensive paid) memory sticks

away.

I just wanted to say that the bad points that you have stated are all true but if you are used to buying Sony products you will notice that this is always the case. They will always want you buy there products,Memory sticks for exmples, they will always be expensive. However, if you keep to there range all the media types are compatable. I can use my memory sticks in DSC-P1, Hand Held DV Recorder, MP3 Player, Viao and my New TV. So just to sum up if you stick to the same brand it does seem worth it. I have most of these for a number of years and they have not caused any issues except the Viao but kids puke anywhere jsut happened to be my notebook.:) Would recommend the P range to all as the picture quality cannot be beaten----there is no comprimise in price when it comes to quality.

is true the P1 camera not advisable for cold or winter countries. anyway, the bad point is this camera does not has a speed capture function or the battery is too short or AAA is better cos we can get AAA easily instead recharge the battery by bringing along the bulky charger. Wanted to change to P10 or the other camera as Olympus. yes, the memory stick is a bit expensive compare with others storage media card

The Sony DSC-P1 is a small, lightweight quality digital camera.

Stylish, A1 quality images, Easy to use - quick buttons and easy menu structure, reasonable features for shooting & playback, easy to down load images to PC, possible to up load images, good features to replay images on the TV, great for point & shoot.

The Sony Dsc-p1 Is A Fun Digital Camera To Use, It

The Sony DSC-P1 is a fun digital camera to use, it takes good quality pictures. The 3.3 megapixel size allows for quality printouts up to 8" x 10". You can see some of the results on the following web page: http://home.satx.rr.com/rjbaker/opr0006i.html. This was a page I set up for just my family, but it has some good examples of the pictures this camera can take.

You can see that in some of the photos, the background light overpowers the foreground subject (My brother Rob).

The small size is good because it allows the camera to be carried conviently, as well as making it easy to use with one hand. But the problems are that it is difficult to hold it steady - when clicking the shutter, the camera tends to wobble.

I thought the camera was bad at taking low-light pictures, until I read the instructions and learned about the "Program AE" function. The camera can take decent photos in low light, but the wobble effect becomes more of a problem, because the camera increases the exposure time.

It would have been nice if Sony included a larger memory stick - 8 megabytes just isn't enough. A carrying case would have been appreciated.

Overall, I'd recommend this camera, especially since the price has dropped since I bought it. (I paid $700 in June 2001)

This Is My First Digital Camera Having Stuck To 35

This is my first digital camera having stuck to 35mm photography until now. Image quality cannot be faulted so this reservation has proved unfounded but the absolute lack of manual control over the photograph, especially aperture control, is extremely frustrating. In the end, this is a very expensive way to take Instamatic photographs - a criticism not directed solely at the P1 but the whole concept of digital photography as it currently stands. The alternative of buying a high quality scanner and sticking to 35mm photography is hard to ignore until prices come down.

While Searching For A Portrait/landscape Switch We

while searching for a portrait/landscape switch we managed to inadvertently hit a "feature" that erased all 50 images we had on the memory stick - without even asking for a "are you sure" - any company with that stupid of an interface deserves to go bankrupt.

I have a P1 and it is impossible to delete all the images without going through 2 or 3 menu steps and using the FORMAT command - which does make it sound like someone who has little or no knowledge of a memory type device. Bad luck or stupidity - either way it is not the cameras fault!

I Just Had To Sell My Sony Dsc-p1 Digital Camera A

I just had to sell my Sony DSC-P1 digital camera at a loss. It just wasn't doing what an expensive camera had to do. So I bought a Nikon 995 and lo behold, I am finally happy. STAY AWAY FROM THE SONY DSC-P1if you are serious about digital photography.

This Little Marvel From Sony Is A Real Joy To Use

This little marvel from Sony is a real joy to use and carry around. The DSC-P1 performs well (probably as well as other more expensive digital cameras). Its primary minus point is the high initial outlay in respect of purchasing additional batteries, memory sticks or other equipments such as a case. Highly Recommended, though.
