We Believed That By Kodak Easyshare Cx4230's Simpl

We believed that by Kodak EasyShare CX4230's simplicity, little could go wrong and with such a well respected name behind the product, why should we have expected any thing else?

The Fuji Finepix 480 purchased 9 months prior to the Kodak is still going strong yet has seen much more use since purchase; has more to go wrong but is now complimented by a Canon EOS 350D. Seems I will have to teach my wife to use both in AUTO mode & not to worry about the bells & whistles on each of them compared to her failed camera. So we will keep the memory chip which just happens to fit some other makes of camera, making sure that when we are able we never by Kodak again.

My First Venture Into The Digital Camera World Aft

My first venture into the digital camera world after 30+ years of SLR and 35mm films...

For my PC use, the Kodak EasyShare is just what I needed for ease of downloading - saves hoarding all those prints in cupboard drawers now... and transfering is so easy to do now....

I'm very impressed with the picture quality for what is essentially a basic digital camera in today's marketplace... 2 megapixels is nothing but it's not that bad at all!!!

Buying on eBay saved me a fortune, in fact I bought his & hers of the same model for £100 the pair, so I'm happy!

Owned now for a year, and never looked back...

The Kodak Cx4230 Digital Camera Produces Adequate

The Kodak CX4230 Digital Camera produces adequate photos, but setting it up is a long-winded process. Settings such as self-timer have to re-input for each shot. Downloading via USB is extremely easy with supplied software - makes expensive docking station pointless. Very fussy on batteries - doesn't like many re-chargeable ones - standard CRV3 battery expensive but lasts reasonably well. Takes standard expansion cards which are necessary as internal memory limited.

This Was My First Digital Camera. At The Beginnin

This was my first digital camera. At the beginning the Kodak CX4230 worked fine except outside in cold weather where it did not work at all. Then as it was nearing the end of it's warranty period it began to shut off or would not turn on while I tried to take pictures. The lens cover would not close properly cuasing the camera to not shut down properly thereby wearing down the batteries. When I contacted Kodak for repair information they got the information to me so late the camera was out of warranty and would require a minimum cost of $35 to repair. This camera also uses a Kodak rechargeable battery and charger which added to the cost. I also purchased additional memory because I wanted to be able to take more than 50 pictures. So I now have over $300+ worth of junk if I don't spend my money to have it repaired. I do not recommend this camera for anyone.

Wifes CX4230 suffers battery low life and on of switch instablity problems- in short its a lemon! Age of product = 3 years - has any one taken one apart to see if its a simple thing like a bad solder joint?

itshimthere

you are not the only ones. has put me off of ever having a kodak again

This review is a bit over the top. My experience after two years of use is that the camera works quite well except that almost all pictures are underexposed and require editing, which is easily done in the Easyshare software.

This is the exact same thing that happened to my CX 4230 camera. I found out it would cost $110 to repair it without the warrantee and I am looking for a different camera now. :-(

I Have Found The Kodak Cx4230 To Produce Excellent

I have found the Kodak CX4230 to produce excellent photographs and have been very happy with the quality. I purchased rechargeable batteries for US$20 that work great. (Price included charger & eight batteries.) It was very easy to learn to use and I have no problem with the speed with which it takes pictures, though it is somewhat slow. Be vary if you have Windows ME operating system. The camera software slows the system terribly. My solution was adding it to another computer with Windows 98. Overall I have been very happy with the camera.

My Kodak Easyshare Cx4230 Takes Great Pictures. I

My Kodak EasyShare cx4230 takes great pictures. It is very easy to share pictures to computer and to email. Camera has a nice attractive body.

The camera shuts off almost constantly while using it though. I thought it was the battery, but I purchased a new Ni Mh battery pack designed for the camera and it still shuts off. It is in the shop now getting repaired. (still under warranty). Camera started doing this shut down thing when it was only 3 months old.

ANother dislike I have with the camera, the batteries don't last any time at all. First rechargeable battery pack I had only lasted about 1 month. THe original battery that came with the camera lasted three times as long as the Rechargeable on I purchased later. I just purchased another rechargeable battery, and I hope it lasts longer than the first.

As far as satisfaction goes, I am very satisfied with the quality of the picture it takes and the ease of transferring pictures to computer. I am not satisfied with the shortness of battery life, and also not satisfied with the on/off switch going bad so soon. I would not recommend anyone to buy this camera. Do your homework and get one that does not have the slider switch on front like this one does.

After The Searching The Internet For A New Camera

After the searching the internet for a new camera and seeing excellent reviews for the Kodak Easyshare CX4230, I took the plunge and ordered one from Comet Direct (Offer price £149.00).

On trying out the camera, I'm afraid to say I think the reviewers must have been using a different model.

I found it very difficult to get a clear photo, although the reviews stated that the CX4230 took beautiful clear crisp shots.

The focus and exposure would not always lock (orange light kept blinking when holding down the shutter release halfway).

Also, the time taken to process the pictures between shots seemed like a lifetime.

If you want a camera which is easy to use and are not really bothered about the quality of the photos then this would probably be ok.

I myself thank God for the distance selling law. I returned the camera within seven days and now am the happy, proud owner of a Fuji Finepix A202. (Internet Cameras Direct £128).

Comet £99 on offer with a discount. Pics are superb for the price. If you have a shaky hand then focus problems but otherwise it works with great results. For a bottom range camera you dont expect to much but this take anywhere camera in my pocket has shot some fantastic shots from closeup to landscapes. Using a tripod on landscapes with the camera at 180deg gives a polaroid effect on the sky sometimes with much richer color

I good light the camera take very good pictures. But indoor or outdoor in dusk (or zoom) you can't get green for focus. You have to check the picture after every shoot to see if its OK.

I'm going to return it. Software is good, but beware if you have a networkdrive after your CD-drive. Camera wan't it!.
