Benefon ESC

Wonderful! The Benefon ESC is the most useful mobile phone imaginable. The maps available are incredibly clear with masses of detail, even showing individual buildings on the topographical maps (for my area) and are different scales depending on map type. GPS is extremely accurate. Low power GPS reception selectable to maximise battery life. Optional magnetic car rooftop antenna gives even beter reception. Easy to use user interface with novel symbols and indicators on full grey scale display. Option to send position update request to another ESC! user via SMS and have their ESC! automatically send you their position (if they have authorised you via phone menu and have GPS switched on). Their position is then shown on the map.

Well as I have said above, the Benefon ESC phone is not the thing for rough and tumble outdoors, which is really where Gps counts much.

I love the machine though and for touring I dont think you need anything else. Interactive downloads need to be jacked up on all gps anyway.

The gps is very accurate and the maps are cheap and easy to download.

Reception on the phone is also very good.

This is the most exciting new phone for a long time.
