Absolutely Shocking Experience
I was recommended Rapid Data Recovery by a friend who is extremely handy with computers hence why I trusted their judgement without doing a lot of research on the company. Initially everything seemed very professional and prompt: within ten minutes of emailing the company I received a phone call where we chatted about my problem and the man on the phone assured me that the problem did not sound that complex and that the repair cost shouldn't be too far away from the £97 on their website. Feeling confident I boxed my hard drive and sent it away and within a few days I received another call. This time the man said how hard the team had been working to recover my data and that they had managed to recover 30gb of it (my hard drive was a terabyte and was approximately 75% full) and it would cost me £675 plus VAT to get it and my data back. I was appalled by this price, considering it wasn't even 50% of the total data lost, and for being so far away from the initial price quoted. When I said I was not willing to proceed the man tried to "talk me around" by saying I could pay in installments. When I eventually got across the point that I definitely did not want to proceed he reluctantly agreed to post it back. However, when I received the parcel all that was inside was the hard drive: no USB connection cable or mains connecter. This means that the company have not returned all my items and have therefore cost me another £20 approximately to potentially replace these items. I have emailed them about this problem and unsurprisingly have not received a response, which compared to their quick response at the start of this process highlights the true nature of their company: one that is for corporate gain through ill means and exploitation of their customers. I shall never approach this company again and dissuade as many people as I can from approaching them.
Do Not Use Under Any Circumstances
I accidentally formatted my external disk drive and sent it to Rapid Data Recovery. They recovered very little data, most folders were empty but charged a total of £475. I had to phone them to get the return of my hardware. When I received it, part of the disk caddy in which the drive was installed was missing. Calls to their office for an explanation have to date got me nowhere. There was nothing wrong with the drive itself and no reason to extract it from its caddy, so I now have a drive that is in a worse state than when it was sent. Like others I wish I had researched this company and its associates earlier. I am now looking at getting redress by other means.
Rapid Data Are Conartists
They told me my hard drives head was damaged and I had to spend £195 for parts and labour in advance with an 80% probability of data recovery. Then WHEN successful another £395 for the actual data. I managed to drop the second price to £195 but it didn't really matter as it was never successful. I doubt they even tried to be honest. They didn't contact me for a week after I paid them the first amount and when they finally did it was to ask me where to send the failed hard drive. Not even mentioning that the process had failed and that i spent £195 + VAT FOR NOTHING.
DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT give them any of your money. I've never felt so violated before in my life.

my hardrive stopped working so i did a search on google for data recovery services and the first result that came up was rapid data recovery .i telephoned them and was assured they could rescue my data the price would be between £97 to £300.first of all they said they would examine my hardrive to see what the problem was and then get back to me with a quote.they called me back 4 days later and said they had passed on my hardrive to there sister company - fields data recovery and quoted me a price of £400 for the data recovery.there is no way i can afford this so i asked them to return the hardrive its not been returned and i keep getting put on hold everytime i ring them.this is a con and is something you would see on the real hustle TV show.

I Had A Horrible Experience With This Company, Who
I had a horrible experience with this company, who provided appalling customer service, tried to charge me 4 times the price they quoted, and damaged the disk containing data I cared hugely about beyond repair, including wrenching the platters apart and causing dust contamination. It seems hundreds of people have had similar experiences, and the next data recovery company I contacted to see if they could do anything to salvage my disk refused to even look at it, saying that if it had been with Rapid Data Recovery/Fields previously, they knew from experience it would have been irreversibly damaged and there was no point. I'm utterly gutted and would advise people in the strongest terms to stay away from this company.

Do NOT use this company at all costs! They will swindle you. Our HD crashed and we made an e-mail inquiry via rapid data recovery and was given a reasonable quote to recovery data. This was when the lies began!! Months went by and no contact to confirm progress, all getting answers phone messages. Considering our HD was sent to Pall Mall, London I was always re-routed to Wales? Finally when they did decide to repair the HD the price was 4 times the original quote. I managed to negotiate 10% discount so that they would release our HD only to discover that none of the data had been recover at all!
The promise of after sales has been yet another let down and no response to any of my messages has driven me insane. The name RAPID DATA RECOVERY is the biggest lie on the net and make my blood boil.

My experience with them is just horrible. They did not recover any data from my hard drive ,but also damaged HD so no data can be retrieved. Also they never returned the deposit money.
Later on I've contacted partners they claim to work with and here what they replied:

Rapid Data, DataPhoenix and Fields Data Recovery were all caught out in the investigation into data recovery scams.
They are currently paying off victims who have realised they were defrauded.
There are a number o court cases pending.
Fields Associates the company which actually charges for the fake data recovery reports is part of the global papermill called Fields Group which offers LifeTime Wills, Quickie Divorces, Visa Apllication and linking up with Sugar Daddies.
There are a number of websites which have exposed their scams and one is currently the subject of a High Court Injunction brought by Fields Groups Managing Director who had believed that he could use his other expertise in Injunction Form selling to quell the rising anger from consumers and competitors affected by his companies scams.
The review of Operation Ore cases which were dropped due to expert witness testimony given by Fields Associates forensic investigators will be the next focus of investigations. A number of irregualrities in the charging and processing of expensive computer forensic reports has been identified and there are other developments which cannot be reported on at this time.

Bad company - fields and rapid data are a csam. Save yourself a whole load of trouble. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE. They took my money and their service was abysmal, failed totally in recovery of my data and had drive for months.
Apparently they post a lot of fake testimonials all over the web. No decent company needs to do that. This company is an enormously dishonest operation. I wish I had checked this awful company out properly before using them. I would have been so much happier now.

Sent in a failed hard drive containing 3 years of highly valued photos. Customer service veered between abysmal and non-existent, they tried to charge me 4 times the original quoted price, and when I received my hard drive back (seemingly one of the few customers to receive it back at all) it was further damaged beyond repair, including having been physically wrenched apart and suffering from dust contamination - now zero chance of recovering my photos. I kick myself harder for sending my drive to Rapid Data Recovery/Fields without researching them first than I do for dropping my hard drive in the first place.

It Is Not Possible To Give A Negative Rating, But
It is not possible to give a negative rating, but I would if I could.
This company claimed to be able to "fix" my hard-drive, but only if I paid them £600!! I refused and asked for the hard drive back and when I finally got it returned (weeks later) it was completely trashed. It was like they had deliberately tried to damage it so I could NEVER recover my data. A little web research led to HUNDREDS of other stories of people who have been fleeced by this company in similar situations. Unfortunately for some, they have paid the £600 but still did not receive their data. I am grateful I was able to get my hard drive returned.
Thankfully I found a reputable company who is experienced in dealing with drives that have been destroyed by Rapid Data (and Fields data) and were able to fully recover ALL of my data, for the princely sum of £110.
DO NOT trust this company, you will regret it if you do.
the same please if you could give the contact details of the company
Thanks for sharing your experience (not a pleasant one I see). I was wondering if you could share who this second reputable company is, that fully recovered your data for £110? I think a lot of other people with a similar experience to yours would definitely benefit. Thanks.
