SunTec Muro MR-100

The display on the SunTec Muro MR-100 MP3 player is too small, and it is impossible to see the menu or anything else.

It is not the best MP3 player that you can find.

Don't get me wrong by my bad points, I really like this device it just need some improvments. I've owned one (Muro MR-100 512mb)for about 4 months and use it almost daily. It's reliable and durable well constructed and packed full of features.

Expansion of Good points

01. FM Broadcasting. This unit is great for use in the car once you program an unused FM station its one button FM Broadcast to car stereo takes about 3 seconds.

02. 512mb of memory. Hold about 120 songs depending on bit rate most of mine are 128 and some 256.

03. As small as my Fuji memory stick or bic lighter, very small and fits in pocket nicely.

04. Metal case not plastic like most mp3 players.

05. Color backlight LCD Display (Orange-Blue-White).

06. Line in recording from stereo or radio or any devie actually, easy to use. I've done the radio and stereo line in recording just hate those dang commericals on the radio. Also great for getting that new CD from your stereo into your MP3 player.

07. Voice recording for memo or direction taking. Works great and easy to use.

08. Unit can be used for file storage as well as MP3's and you can create your own directory structure of folders for storage on the device any way you want it.

09. Built in FM tuner standard scanning and programming functions. Nice to switch back and forth while out for a run/walk.

10. Priced right I got my Muro MR-100 512mb MP3 player for $140.00 I've seen them for sale for $250 at retail shops, please shop around, look on ebay pricewatch there out there.

11. Control Wheels. Nice to have a wheel not buttons to push and controls are lockable.

Expansion of Bad points

01. FM broadcasting quality sometimes isnt very good * Note: This might be user error (me) because most of the time (80%) the quality is exceptional. Also could be from FM radio interference too sometimes called spill over or overlaping stations... drawbacks of not having very many unused FM stations.

02. Control wheels could be better or just stick up a little bit higher or slightly longer. Nice if you have small fingers.

03. Should have a belt clip carrying case similar to pagers not a belt loop carrying case with hard to use snaps. Nice to clip it on and off not have to futz with snaps or undoing belt to get on and off.

04. Battery life should be longer or include an extra battery. I've experenced battery life of only 8 hours aprox. MP3 players should have a battery life of least 20-24 hours 1 full day, I can't think of any that do.

05. Include better quality headphone, the one included aren't bad I'm just used to higher quality heaphones. Sony makes some really nice headphones that work great for this device here are two models I use (SONY FONTOPIA MDR-EX71SL and MDR-EX51LP).

06. USB connector should be build into the unit instead you've got one more cable to worry about.

07. Muro doesn't offer a 1 or 2gb version. 1-2 gb is the sweet spot for small portable players it'll give you lots of music and variety so you can have 300mb of Rock 200mb of Country 1 or 2 audio books and room for file / voice storage.

Bought a Muro MR-100 portable mp3 player from www.suntecint.com a few months ago. I bought it because it had a wireless broadcasting feature which allowed me to transmit the songs in my mp3 player through my car speakers. Excellent build quality and you cannot beat the price.
