Doesn't Put Things Right When They Go Wrong. Ignores Contact
You only know how good a company is when things go wrong. In this instance, things started to go wrong 6 months after building was complete.
BUT - we were promised the building would be done within 3 months in the first place, yet it took most of 2022 to complete.
We were fobbed off with reason for delay after reason for delay. But most of the workmen who came round pointed their fingers in one direction - the owner. and his poor planning and organisation.
We had multiple instances of workmen turning up unannounced, as well as the opposite - where we stayed in expecting them, only for a no-show... multiple times.
Come April 2023 and things warmed up - litterally. As they did, the cracks began to show... again, litterally.
Initially we thought it was down to settling.
But we noticed a pattern.
Every day the sun was out, large cracks appeared.
The sun goes away, the cracks do too... well, they shrank at least.
So we had an expansion problem.
When buying the roof type, we were assured it's 'the best' because it doesn't expand and contract. It was the Leka System. A glass reinforced plastic (according to their website).
The expansion would get to 2mm wide - and enough to get a £1 coin in on some days. Completely wrecking the paint job.
In addition, the roof tiles fitted discoloured and began turning white. These came with a 25 year warranty, but didn't even last a year before going faulty.
This was all highlighted and he was asked to put it right in the April.
We're now in September and nothing has been done.
Numerous calls, texts, emails - I've gone through his own company complaints proceedure and been more than generous with the time I've allowed before going public.
His excuse?
- He can't get the manufacturers on the phone
- Who's going to pick up the cost of the scaffold needed to repair and replace all of this?
- He's got a call out for the CEO of Leka and is waiting for them to come back from holiday (they got back on the 4th September, but he's still not been in touch).
It seems he wants to make the problem of cost his customer's by putting them in the middle. Rather than swallowing it, dealing with the issues at hand, then claiming on the guarantees each supplier gives to him with their products.
Finally, something I picked up in the installation - the anchoring of the roof... this was done with 50mm rough thread screws. No raw plugs. Just screwed straight into the breeze blocks.
Some came out before close up and were just screwed back in place.
I asked him if the problem of roof movement could be because of the lack of proper anchoring - this too got ignored.
Very Impressed
Very proffesional company from start to finish!
After meeting the company's representative we decided to have our windows and door fitted by Homebrite. the person I dealt with was very informative and offered us several different options and could answer all the questions my partner threw at him. We were given a few dates for them to be fitted and we decided on the date that was good for us.
The day arrived and the fitters arrived on time and were very pleasant & they did a very good job & cleaned up after they finished the work. They then walked us through to show how the windows worked and before leaving us explained everything about how to open and lock our lovely new front door!
Everything went as planned and windows and door were fitted. We love them, really happy with the doors and windows so will definately recommend!
