“Lots of unresolved issues”

★★☆☆☆

written by Nicola1870 on 06/01/2019

Lots of issues from the job not being completed fully and having to chase on numerous occasions to get someone out. Then there are still marks on the outside of the glass which look unsightly. I gave up trying to get something done but am really unhappy with them.

“Poor quality of finish”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 16/05/2018

The only reason we chose Coral windows was the quality of their product. The sales rep was very pushy and free with his bad language, and also running other companies down. After his presentation his exact words to us were are we doing a deal then or what because if I go now I won’t be coming back.We signed the contact just to get him out of the house, and as we had other companies quoting the following day we knew we had chance to cancel. If the other companies products had been better than corals we would have cancelled the order. The window fitters were pleasant and worked hard. However,we had to have one of your service fitters back twice to rectify problems with the bay window,as it was not rectified one of your managers attended and carried out the repairs to the standard they should have been in the first place. The replacement window we had fitted was due to alterations we were having done and we had to fit an opening widow for building regs.We had no choice but to use Coral as we wanted the new widow to match. The fitter was very pleasant and did a good job.The whole experience with Coral windows was not a pleasant one and we would not recommend Coral windows to anyone.

“Slow to install”

★★☆☆☆

written by HarryEvans1961 on 28/03/2018

Two efforts to measure the window with a long gap inbetween despite emphasis of elderly security need. Mixed sympathy about the situation, managers poor, installers excellent. Immense difficulty described against securing a second window key following loss. Cant comment on the job because owing to distance have not yet seen it.

“Boarded up new conservatory”

★★☆☆☆

written by BoardedUp on 04/08/2017

Purchased a conservatory from Coral in March 2017. Building began in April it's now August and only just completed. The only conservatory I know that fits the frames then immediately board it up with scrap plyboard. Don,t believe anything they say the truth is a stranger to them. Don't expect them to turn up when arranged. Don't expect them to glaze your windows when they have perfectly good scrap plyboard to use up. Don't write polite letters to the MD as he won't reply. Ask yourself why a company like Coral does not have an email address. Simple if they replied to emails they would have what they say in writing.

“No one ever returns out calls”

★★☆☆☆

written by Wilson1974 on 24/10/2016

On 31st July a rep came out to design us an orangery which was very good. We were told we'd get a quote within a few days. Two weeks later it finally arrived. I telephoned the office to make some adjustments which they said they would deal with and come straight back to me.they never did. I have since called nine times and not one person has come back to me. Now, this month they are offering 50% off Windows so we could have had a discount but no one rings back. We advised the company on several occassions we wanted it to be started asap ready in time for Christmas but they clearly don't need the work. I've now booked in with another company. Reading other customer reviews they seem to of had the same treatment. We were promised the work could start within two weeks from signing but that clearly isn't true. It's now nearly the end of October. Lost sale for coral. Overall poor customer service.

“A three day job turned into a three month nightmare.”

★★☆☆☆

written by RobertPS on 07/07/2015

We employed Coral to replace our old hardwood conservatory with a uPVC one on an existing base. The job should have taken just a few days but ended up taking three months. We got four quotes and decided to use Coral, who were the second most expensive, firstly because they could do the job without using a tie bar across the roof and secondly because they came with a very good reputation. A few days before they were due to start the surveyor came again to take some "final measurements". A couple of days later Coral phoned to say that there would be a delay of a couple of days due to problems with sourcing the metal roof members from the manufacturer. A few days later they rang again using the same reason to delay the installation for a further two weeks which meant that they would start on the Thursday before Easter. They assured us that they would therefore work on Good Friday to make sure that it was completed before the Easter weekend when all our family would be home. Despite the delays to the installation, Coral still turned up on the original date to demolish the old conservatory and build up the exterior stone wall. This left all the existing floor, plasterwork and electrics exposed to the elements for about three weeks of wind and rain. When they finally arrived to build the new conservatory they announced that under no circumstances were they going to work on Good Friday and that we would just have to put up with a half-built conservatory until the following week. With our dining room occupied by the conservatory furniture, this left us to enjoy our family meal that everyone had come home for, round a small kitchen table. Even worse, when we went to look at what they had achieved at the end of the day, to our surprise we found a great ugly tie-bar running from one side of the roof to the other - the very thing that we had gone to Coral to avoid! When we objected, we were initially told that it was not possible to avoid a tie-bar and then that we would have to have two smaller tie-bars at a higher level. Eventually they did put themselves out and in conjunction with the manufacturer came up with a way of avoiding a tie-bar completely. In the meantime they finished building the conservatory only to find: - the external stone wall had not been built level leaving a huge gap at one end - one window was the wrong size - the gutter bends were the wrong size (twice) - there was no way of joining the gutter into the existing downpipe - drainage holes in the window and door had been crudely carved out with a knife - all the plasterwork was rotten and had to be replaced Eventually everything was put right, but what a poor performance by a supposedly reputable company. When we discussed the outcome with management, the attitude seemed to be "well you got what you ordered didn't you", which could be regarded as technically correct. I still have to excavate the flower bed to remove all the mess left by the builders and the external stone wall will never look quite right but we do have a functioning conservatory without a tie-bar which from the inside at least looks very good. Could I recommend them to anyone? No

“Windows yes, Doors NO”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 09/10/2013

Having used coral for new windows last year, we went back to them for a new door, Big Mistake. They moved installation date two days before they were due to come fit the door. When the door was fitted the fitters did loads of damage due to poor understanding of basic fitting skills, dirty and then tried to get me not to report them as they would have to pay for damage caused. long story short, had door fitted in April, so far one re-fit, four engineers and its still not right. last engineer told me "these doors are a pain" so why is coral selling them? now having to phone again to complain. Very disappointed after they did such a good job on our windows. use at your own risk!

“DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!!”

★★☆☆☆

written by Disgruntledwakefield on 09/09/2013

Although the finished product is good and the price reasonable, do not use this company if you value your home.  Had my windows fitted today and one of the workmen walked straight into my bedroom with me in it, without knocking, when he knew I was in there. When I said hello to I'm, he walked over the room to check the window, ignored me and walked back out again. Same workman then stood on brand new kitchen Worktop to get to window. When I offered him the use of steps he said he had some in the van. Well use them then! Then same workman stood next to hole where they'd taken the window out and lit up a cigarette. With all the smoke going straight onto my new kitchen-diner!!! I spoke to customer service about my complaints and their reply was " we'll we haven't had any complaints before". The next manager said the same. Had used coral before but NEVER will again!

“Seven week overrun”

★★☆☆☆

written by Karabim on 27/06/2013

Recently had a conservatory from Coral and we are delighted with the construction HOWEVER it was seven weeks late to completion, the brick mortar does not match and changes colour half way up a pillar. Company Director Ms Oates was not interested in the level of inconvenience or the time we had to take off work and when we said we had had enough and did not want them back at the house she offered us the paltry sum of £400 on a £19k conservatory. Think twice before you buy from this company.

“Awful”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 22/04/2013

Coral Windows promised a professional, high quality product and fitting. We didn't get any of this. They fitted the windows as quickly as they could. They filled all gaps with sealant, broke a window and had to install the broken window a they had already taken the old one out. We had to wait for someone to come and inspect (use the word loosely) the work that had been carried out to see if a new window was required. This was window that they had broken!!! The so - called management argued with me. Customer manner and service absolutely appalling. The bathroom window didn't have both hinges fitted so when we went to open it it nearly fell out. one of the bedroom windows had a scratch on the glass, another bedroom window had some kind of debris/rubbish in between the glazing, the new window sills had been cut and fitted so poorly they nearly all had to bee removed and redone. The sills had plastic/pvc strips hiding the gaps from the poor measuring and fitting. The render to the back of the house where they fitted the kitchen window is damaged. The list goes on. We had to arrange childcare days off work and Coral Windows offer no discount for all the distress inconvenience and shoddy workmanship. They have been to our home 3 times and we are still finding problems, but don't want them to come into our home anymore. They are one disgraceful company who really in our experience d not care about the customer only their money!
