Last year I contacted step change. I was advised to open a new bank account which I did, my debts which were only £700 were increased to over £2,000 to cover an existing overdraft. My debtors were harassing me by phone. Step change arranged a token payment of £1 to my debtors. This ended last month. I contacted step change just now and after 1 hour on the phone the gentleman told me they could not help and I was to contact my debtors myself to arrange payments to them. My outgoings have increased but they could not help me. I have debtors phoning me now for payments, I no longer have step change protection.
In my opinion, please find out what the procedure is when the token payment ends as I have been left hanging after 1 hour on the phone. My debts increased on step change's advice.
