I was offered a cash passport when purchasing currency at the airport 18 months ago, and put on a few hundred pounds at the time , the form was filled in correctly at the airport and double checked , all went well and had no issues using it on holiday . when I went on holiday this new year I decided to top up the car prior to going with £600, luckily I didn't put all my spending money on the card . I knew it took 24 hours for the payment to go on to the card , but still wasn't on after this time , and nothing in transaction history on the cash passport / no email from them to say topped up etc .I checked my bank and the amount had been deducted from my account, so I called up travelex and they said to get the authorisation code from my bank , which I did called them back and someone else advised me there was nothing they could do and would take anything up to 5 days to be processed . called my bank back and was advised they cant cancel the payment and need to wait to see if they claim it which takes up to 5 days but definetly authorised by them . Phoned travelex and were advised nothing they can do .waited agin another day i'm on holiday by this point and spent hours on the phone on hold with travelex , each time having to 'pass' security which is a nightmare , at one point I didn't pass and she told me she couldn't speak to me and hung up !, the question she asked me was when I originally got the cash passport how much did I top up , now she wanted the exact amount , which was 18 months before , and was ridiculous to expect anyone to remember this , and on the transaction history there was no transactions so I couldn't even check it myself online in my account!! I explained and asked her to ask me another question but no , its like robots you are dealing with . I called back and got someone else and this time she called travelex directly with the authorisation code , and I could not believe my ears when she told me travelex had decided not to process the transaction as my house number was different to what was on my bank , my house number is 74 and they had 14 !! which was there error whoever typed in the details from the form I filled in at the airport onto there system had clearly put in 1 instead of 7 ! so I asked to speak to manager , at this point I didn't care if it was authorised or not I just wanted my £600 back. I was on hold for over 30 mins , manager still busy , then another 30 mins later she came back and said he manager still busy and her manager advised her to call my bank and tell them it wasn't authorised so they could get my money back in my account . I gave her the bank telephone number and she came back 10 mins later and told me she needed my telephone banking security details to get through !! I told her that you don't give these out ! absolutely shocking !she said she would get her manager to call me as by this time been on phone for nearly 2 hrs , never ever got a call , 7 days later I got my money back in my bank account when my holiday over , absolute joke of a company , felt like I had been robbed , worst customer service ever, caused me major amounts of stress when on holiday ,huge phone bill , will never use them again ever ,will stick to credit /debit card or cash , I don't usually bother with reviews but don't want anyone else to go through the same as what I did .
