Gite Rika in Massugas, Dordogne

Four of us recently rented Gite Rika and can thoroughly recommend it as a base for exploring the region. Situated between Bordeaux and Bergerac it is ideal to visit both places as well as St Emilion. The gite was extremely clean and well kept, has a well equipped kitchen and immaculate pool just across a small quiet road amid the vines. The bedrooms are large but rather old fashioned and not ensuite. There is also a utility room, dining area and lounge. Massugas itself is a small hamlet so you have to drive out to shops, restaurants etc but the nearest Intermarche is in Pellegrue, not far. There is a pretty chateau next door which unfortunately is no longer a working wine producer, nice to walk round in the evenings though. The owners who live adjacent to the property are helpful and friendly although they do not speak English, however we managed to converse using our school french and plenty of sign language! The gite has a perfect undercover outside eating area with a fireplace so whatever the weather you can be in the open air, there is also a terraced area for sunbathing. We had a great holiday.
