  • Mazda 2 Overview

The Mazda 2 is a Supermini which is regarded as fun to drive, reliable and affordable. It also has reputation for excellent build quality. Introduced in 2003 in the UK, replacing the Demio, the Mazda 2 is also known for its sporty looks and for being light and economic. It offers a distinctive styling, good handling and economy at a reasonably competitive price with a range of petrol and diesel options available. The 2007 Mazda 2 is the latest version, available in three trim levels and with three petrol engines, from 74bhp to 101bhp. The 2007 model five-door is 100kg lighter than the previous Mazda 2; and Mazda claims both the 1.3 petrol engines manage 52.3mpg on the combined cycle. A 1.4-litre, 67bhp turbo-diesel version is planned for 2008. All the latest models offer good equipment levels and excellent value for money compared to some of the luxury brand options. Each of the models combines high levels of standard equipment with a limited options list intended to offer customers a welcome straightforward choice. The 2007 Mazda 2 1.4 MZ-CD will manage acceleration of 0-62mph in 15.5secs and a top speed of 101 mph.

  • 2007 Mazda 2 Equipment and Features

2007 Mazda 2 standard equipment includes 15-inch steel wheels, ABS with emergency brake assist, electronic brake-force distribution, driver and passenger front airbags and remote central locking. 2007 Mazda 2 also includes electric front windows, driver seat height adjust, CD radio with auxiliary jack, Thatcham category 1 alarm and immobiliser, plus Isofix child seat. Basically, the new Mazda 2 is lighter and smaller than the model it substitutes. Mazda engineers have trimmed 100kg off the previous weight. The new car is also 40mm shorter and 55mm lower than the predecessor. It comes with fine body control, MacPherson strut front and torsion beam rear suspension plus light electrically assisted steering. With the weight and structure and superb spec it ensures great handling. The cabin is also tremendously spacious inside. And despite retaining the same 2490mm wheelbase, the boot is adequate too. The plastic but neat looking dashboard and centre console contribute to the reduced weight. The enveloped dimpled dash-top material is rigid and shiny. Drivers have identified the driving position as good and visibility as good.
