I Bought A Hotpoint Aquariaus Ultima Wd31 Washing
I bought a Hotpoint Aquariaus Ultima WD31 washing machine 4 years ago, and the drum went, so instead of getting an engineer to repair it, I decided I should really purchase a new one. I ordered the new machine, and was advised that it would be delivered 4 days later, and that for £25 they would remove and trash the old machine.
Delivery day arrived. I took the day off work and sat in and waited for the Hotpoint lorry to arrive. A little after 11am the lorry pulled up outside. They took my old machine and installed the new Aquarius. The engineer tested it and said "it's a duff one like most of these machines". He proceeded to pack up the new machine and reload it on to the lorry and drove off. I am now without a machine.
I telephoned the customer service department and was informed that I would have to wait an additional 2 weeks for a replacement machine, and I would have to pay the delivery charge again. No way, I want a refund. I was then informed that I would still have to pay the delivery charge, so they would send me a cheque for the full amount minus the delivery charge. I tried explaining again that I technically have not had the machine delivered, so why be charged the penalty? To which they replied life is unfair, and that my cheque would be issued within the next 28 days.
So there you have it.

We Have Had Our Hotpoint Aquarius Ultima Wd31 For
We have had our Hotpoint Aquarius Ultima WD31 for less than 5 years, the drum has now failed for the second time. Rather than fix this we will are looking for a more reliable unit. We recommend you stay well clear of this system.
Hotpoint Aquarius, Me And My Brother Bought These
Hotpoint Aquarius, me and my brother bought these dreadful machines, not even two years ago, he has had two new drums and a complete new machine, i have had a new drum now that is knackered, the repairer said its because Hotpoint bought a batch of cheap drums all of which were second-rate...I`ll never buy Hotpoint again..
I have the new hotpoint aqaurius 1200 and its rubbish, lasted 17 months in total with many faults in between, our last hotpint was almost 19 years old and had been passed down the family 3 times and it only ever needed the brushes replacing in all that time. Hotpoint have really gone down hill i will never have a hotpoint again.
I have just purchased a HOTPOINT AQUAIUS 1000 in May 2005, absolutely disgusted with it. I had my last Hotpoint Aquarius for nearly 8 years, so thought to get the same one again. Now the circuit board has gone and needs a replacement, I am furious, I want to give it back to Currys and get a different machine altoghether, as I know I am stuck with a MINGER.
I totally agree with all the bad comments about Hotpoint here. My previous Hotpoint lasted me 9 years. Great, I thought, I'll get a new one (paid £459 for it) and it became deafeningly noisy after only 18 months. Got rid of it and now have a Bosch. Will never buy Hotpoint again!
I also have one of these. The problem is that the cover over the bearings works loose, the water gets in then you need to replace the bearings. Guess what . . . the drum is a 'SEALED-UNIT' and the bearings are within, so it will only cost around £150 plus labour. I have written and e-mailed Hotpoint several times but have had no reply so I am considering buying a cheap new machine for the same price as a repair.

Everyone I Know Who Has Had One Of These Says They
Everyone I know who has had one of these says they are the most reliable and I have to agree. Ours is now 4 years ols and still going strong.
Dont bother with extra insurance cover as you wont need it !
Totally disagree about reliability
this has to be a bogus review?????
I have an Aquarius 1000 model. At just under 3 years old the mechanism retaining the drum 'fell apart'. The first thing the repair man asked was whether I had a water softener. Apparently the salt content in softened water causes corrosion in the alloy drum retaining mechanism, and 3 years between failures is normal under these circumstances. In my opinion this is an atrocious design - my previous machine (also a Hotpoint) did not suffer from this type of failure in 15 years, also with softened water.
Our hotpoint aquarius is rubbish. We have called out the engineers 13 times. [yes 13]. Virtually every piece has been replaced. absolute cr*p. We will NEVER buy junk from this manufacturor again.
Hotpoint customer service is abysmal. They dont care. They really dont give a sh*t.
DONT Buy this.
I have now had 4 machines (all replaced under warranty) with the latest lasting nearly nine months till now (bearings starting to fail) I have found Hotpoint to be incredibly difcult to the point where they blatantly lie, they are without doubt the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. I only got my warranty claims accepted by writing to the UK customer services director! A colleage who used to work for HP saya that there is an inherent fault in the manufacture of these units resulting in a high number of early life failures (the drum assembly is turned during manufacture)
