“Magic”

★★★★☆

written by on 13/07/2015

I have just used this on all my carpets upstairs and, whilst you are never going to get the same results as you would with a steam clean the power powder has done a fantastic job and the carpets look much cleaner and smell lovely and fresh. It's very simple to use just sprinkle and brush in, OK it does take a bit of elbow grease but it's good exercise. I left mine to work for 40 minutes and vacuumed and the carpets look great. No I didn't get powder residue everywhere. I would have liked to have known before I bought the product that this should only be used with a bagged vacuum cleaner, how many people have those these days?

“pleasantly surprised”

After reading all the bad reviews ( after I had bought it !) I was very scared to used the product so just tried it on a small area at the back of my lounge. I have a cream plain 80/20 wool carpet all through the lounge and a white 100% wool rog !!! yes ! the grandkids have outgrown us -lol The test piece looked ok so I carried on. I used a handbrush to spread the poder and followed the instructions to the letter - amazing - carpet and rug look like new and they were dirty ! after 5 years wear and people and kids treading all over our bungalow. I can only assume that some of the reviews are from people who bought a carpet cleaning machine hoping to make money !! I will never soak my carpets again with shampoo etc . Well worth the effort and£7 or so from Wilko

“Worked amazingly for me”

★★★★☆

I don't know why so many people have had such a bad experience with this product. I used it on a beige, short pile, wool carpet. On the light traffic areas, the result was superb and on the high traffic areas, marks were significantly reduced. Prior to applying, I vacuumed the carpet then used a stiff bristled sweeping brush and brushed against the grain to lift the pile. I then shook the product on as directed and worked it into the fibres with yue same sweeping brush I used before. This I did rather rigorously...if you're afraid of putting your back into housework, this may not be for you. After about 30 mins, I then swept up what I could (was dusty but effective) then vacuumed up the rest...and YES, I did use a bagless vacuum cleaner, shock horror! (Vax Swift high power)...both I and my vacuum cleaner have lived to tell the tale with no ill effects! A second application on the high traffic areas was needed, but I did expect this as the carpet is about 5 years old. I would buy Vanish Powerpowder again however, as a single mum in full time education, I do find it rather expensive (£7 from Tesco).

“Pretty decent”

I'd already bought the product before reading the reviews on here but went ahead and tried it anyway. The carpets in our flat weren't cleaned before we moved in and they're pretty old as well, but I gave this powder a go on an area of the living room carpet (cream coloured) and it came up pretty good. I left it on for about an hour and scrubbed it in thoroughly. I know it says 20 mins but I can't see how that's enough time to work. I wasn't expecting it to bring the carpets up like new as I suspect some others were, but overall it certainly rejuvenated that area a bit and it definitely looks cleaner. It hasn't harmed my vacuum cleaner thus far either. I'll be doing the whole carpet with it and will give it a second going over :)

“not that bad actually”

★★★★☆

I'm 39 weeks pregnant and wanted to clean my frontroom carpet as we have just got a puppy and she had had a couple of mistakes on it. My carpet was also a bit stained by the frontdoor and the front of the sofa where everybodies feet had been. My carpet is a mink colour. After seeing the advert for Vanish powerpowder I decided to buy some the other day and it cost nearly £6. I put it on my carpet as the instuctions said but left it down for just over an hour. I was keeping my fingers crossed that my hoover was going to get it back out of the carpet as its quite an old upright dyson. I've never had any problems with my hoover in the past but being a very fine powder I thought it might be a job getting back out of the carpet. So I hoovered half of the carpet emptied it then done the other half emptied it then went over the whole lot just to make sure all the powder was gone. I'm pretty impressed with the results it looks very clean and smells lovely. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is, I can see two little (size of a 2p) marks still on my carpet that didn't come out. It's as messy as you make it but I didn't find it messy at all and came back off the carpet very well. I need to give the surfaces in the frontroom a dust but then I do that every time I hoover anyway, so no big deal. I will defo buy this again and recomend it to friends/family

“The best yet!”

I have a very light berber carpet that had some stains from a pet that was very old and nothing, including professional cleaners could remove. There are very heavy 'walk' areas in my house and these areas looked very grubby. I had decided to save up and purchase new carpet. I tried Vanish Powerpowder once and could not believe the improvement. Some stubborn areas remained, so I tried it again only to see even better results. Its true that a couple of very old pet stains were not totally eliminated but they were vastly improved and I will not rush to buy new carpet for quite a while longer. I don't know why people are saying they are exhausted after using this product. It only calls for a soft brushing and a vacume. My vacume cleaner is an old Nilfisk and quite strong. I did not have any problems with blockages with my Nilfisk. I am glad I found this product and would recommend it highly.

“Really impressed with results...”

...but it's not as easy as it looks on the tv! I've been at it for an hour now - the powder really sinks into the carpet, will have to do another scrub to get it out. My carpet is creamy coloured, living room rug - gets the second most wear in the house after the stairs. It was grubby, a couple of pale drink stains etc - it's come up as new. Even my husband noticed the difference. It's not easy, it's not the 20 minutes it promises. I've emptied the hoover 3 times and will be doing another. But the results speak for themselves! :)

I don't think all the hard work is worth the results! I took a before and after photo (yes I'm a geek!) and there wasn't much difference! and i did the bit near the door twice! it does look better I admit but not as clean as they made out it was going to be!

There seems to be conflicting reviews regarding the vacuuming up of this product . Is it just the fact you need a bagged vacuum cleaner?
