“repair”

Wouldn’t trust to repair a shopping trolley, treated our van with total disrespect ,damaged more than they were supposed to repair, keeping customer informed was non existent.

“Don’t buy from this Company. Seriously, don’t. ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by DereonO'Hara37 on 20/04/2023

They couldn’t care less after the sale. When you spend cica £83k on something, it should do as it says on the tin. I haven’t the time or inclination to list everything that was wrong with our motor home, it would simply take too long. We’ve resorted to having things put right (at additional expense) ourselves. Some warranty parts are still not here 8 months after purchase (nothing they can do, supplier issues. (Yawn). Even though our service guy can get them within a few days BTW. Buy from this Company at your peril. Absolutely not alone in this. Read the reviews. This really isn’t a one off, we’ll be ok scenario. You will be shafted. If Auther Daley sold caravans or motor homes. He’d have worked for this outfit. In fact, he probably owns the place.

“Motorhome purchase”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Kinetick on 05/12/2022

I bought a motorhome from this company in July 2022, I paid £52,995 for this vehicle, which was my life time savings. I part exchanged a caravan, I had an estimated valuation of £13,000. for my caravan from this company. When I took my caravan for the sales staff to explore, I was advised it had damp in the bathroom area and they did not fix damp, however they offered to contact a local tradesmen who offered me £12,500. I agreed to this, I was told by the sales man that my caravan would be collected the next day by a local trades person, however when I attended Catterick over the next few months my caravan remained on the forecourt. My caravan is now advertised on their website for the sum of £17,995. I have just contacted Cattrick sales and spoke to the manager, I have asked to be reimbursed of £500, he refused to give me any money. I would not recommend this company to anyone, completely untrustworthy.

“BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Dissatisfied7 on 03/08/2022

We had a warranty issue on our new van and were informed by the Tyneside branch that their staff had limited skills and we would have to go to another dealer which was a 500 mile round trip from our home. This was at a cost to ourselves and 3 days at a hotel while the repair was done, price of fuel, meals etc. The other dealer did do a excellent job but it was 5 days out our life with 2 full days of 250miles drive and mileage added to our vehicle. WE WERE REFUSED ANY COMPENSATION from this company. If you buy from this company they may send you anywhere in the uk for warranty work and even charge you to process the work like what happened to us. BEWARE

I also had a very negative experience with this company, at Catterick branch, I purchased a motorhome and part exchanged a caravan, they had estimated £13,000 for the part exchange, then told us our caravan had damp and they did not repair damp, they advised they had contacted a local trader who would give us £12.500. I agreed to this, sales man said the trader would collect the caravan the following day. The caravan remained on their forecourt for months following our purchase and is now advertised on their web sight for sale. This company is dishonest and untrustworthy. I have contacted the sales manager today and he has refused any reimbursement. comment date 05/12/22.

Hi sorry you also used catterick caravans. I can’t even begin to tell you haw bad they are. You should post on Google and trustpilot. The more bad reviews they get the better. Read my 2 reviews on trustpilot. They say that they will sit down and discuss it but they won’t. Disgusting company.

Quick to take your money until you find faults on a new caravan or motor home. Aftercare non existent. Customer service shockingly poor. Our service experience a disaster. Faults pointed out not found during service. Black oil marks from boots left on seats and caravan put back in storage compound without Alco locks put back on for security. Totally disinterested owner walked past me three times when i stood instore at catterick for over an hour attempting to get things resolved. Avoid!

“DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY!!!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by StuartCharlotte on 14/08/2020

Took my Elddis caravan in for service and damp check. Before the service was complete Catterick Caravans rang my wife and said “the brakes were non existent, we must have driven with the hand brake on and the drums had been white hot and have extreme heat damage. We must not remove the caravan from their site unless we have it recovered away. If we take it away we must sign a disclaimer” they also said it would be a few weeks before they could get the parts. As we were booked up to go away that weekend and I am the manager of a truck and van main dealer workshop I decided to get the caravan recovered back and see what parts I could source myself. Being a main dealer of a top end brand we deal with BPW direct. On stripping the brakes down I found the drums to be in good condition, No signs of heat cracks, scoring, not even a lip on the drum, the shoes did need replacing but still had couple mm left on and certainly weren’t dangerous. Just in case I was missing something in the caravan world that’s different to my 30 years experience in motor vehicle repair as I am a time served technician, I sent the drums to another Elddis main dealer to ask there opinion, which was they should be cleaned up and out back on. When I complained to Catterick they at first backtracked and said they only advised (if they had advised why would I have had recovered) then said they stand by there opinion that they recommend they are replaced without anything to back this up except there is surface rust on the outside of the drum braking area. It’s a 6 yr old van and my sons 6 yr old car has surface rust on the rear drums!! I would avoid this company like the plague, especially after reading other reviews on here. Wonder how many other people have had parts replaced when they are perfectly serviceable? If you do need to use them I would question everything they tell you needs doing, ask for pictures. Oh and I forgot to mention when sorting the brakes out on my caravan I found the N/S/F bottom shocker bolt hanging out, and this wasn’t even picked up on service!!! Catterick Caravans weren’t interested in my complaint, after reading other reviews why aren't I surprised ........

“Terrible service and Motorhome”

★☆☆☆☆

written by SantinoSaunders on 22/06/2020

Terrible dealer.. Long review but it is a salutary lesson for all prospective buyers from Leisure World at Catterick. We bought an Autosleeper motorhome from them in May. A 2005 model with 85k on the clock. We got it for what we considered to be a fair price and prior to sale I insisted on three things. Full years MOT, Mechanical Service and a full written Habitation report (to include any damp issues). When we picked up the motorhome we were given a huge bag full of manuals and paperwork, including MOT’s, full service history and various other manuals and receipts for various works carried out previously. We were told the Hab report was in there and the sales person said the report had highlighted an issue with the main window seals so they had been replaced. Upon checking they had indeed been replaced. We were told the report was in amongst all the other paperwork in the bag, schoolboy error but we didn’t actually check before driving off that the report was indeed in there. Fast forward a couple of days and eventually work through the paperwork and am unable to find anything regarding a recent Hab check or report. Phoned the dealer, apologised said the paperwork must have been missed out but will find it and send it on. Again he reiterated the report had been done. Cut a VERY long story short but three weeks later (still no sign of the hab report) the list of faults was building and very little response from the dealer so we decided to have an independent check done. To our surprise (not) the engineer identified several issues, the main ones being gas related and DAMP in one corner under a bench seat. The day after the Hab check it poured with rain for the first time since we bought the van. Rain literally poured in via the OS window. Basically the dealer HAD replaced the seals but he didn’t remove the windows before doing so and then resealing. Basically complete bodge job. The list of issues and problems is long but included the following:- Severe damp Satellite dome falling off on a dual carriageway Handbrake bent Waste pipe not attached to vehicle Cracks in bodywork Gas vents capped off (dangerous) Gas boiler giving off high Carbon Monoxide readings (dangerous) Quite simply this company should not be in business, they are unconcerned about selling dangerous vehicles and have no idea what customer service is. So many bad reviews, I wish I had looked before shelling out thousands. Ultimately, (after a struggle) we got a full refund. We should have got compensation for all the stress and heartache but we didn’t. To be honest we were just glad to see the back of them. Avoid like the plague…!

“Avoid like the Plague”

written by ztGorman298 on 07/10/2019

Purchased a brand new Lunar Delta Ri caravan in 2016. Discovered in April this year that cracks had appeared in the front and rear panels clearly emanating from over tightened screws attaching the panels to the caravan frame. Reported cracks to Catterick Caravans who requested I take the van to them for inspection. Made a 400 mile round trip to Catterick Caravans who took pictures and water ingress readings showing water had entered the caravan. Readings in excess of 90% across the whole front, rear, offside wall and ceiling together with visible water damage marks on internal boards. Catterick agreed that the cracks and damage fell within the scope of the manufacturers warranty and after submitting reports to the manufacturer, Lunar Caravans they agreed the caravan should be repaired under warranty at the factory. In August 2019 Lunar Caravans went into insolvency and an e-mail was received from Catterick Caravans informing me all warranty work was put on hold. After seeking legal advice, I reminded Catterick Caravans of their obligations pursuant to the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and gave them the opportunity to repair my caravan as originally agreed under warranty, replace my van with a like for like van or refund the purchase price. The only offer I have had from Catterick Caravans is to exchange my caravan providing I contribute £12,000. This I have refused. Since then I have been chasing Catterick Caravans but they never respond to e-mails or reply to telephone calls. The only other response received was from the Company Director who basically stated take us to Court and by the way unless you collect your caravan from our premises forthwith we will charge you storage charges. Luckily when I purchased the van I paid a small deposit on my credit card. I made a section 75 claim with my credit card company who following an investigation have upheld my claim so the matter is being resolved. The credit card company will be pursuing Catterick Caravans. The Caravan show is being held soon at the NEC. Please don't get sucked in with all the false sales pitches Catterick sales people will bombard you with to get a sale. We were told that in the event of any problems with the van we could take it to our local dealer just down the road for warranty repairs or Catterick would send out a mobile engineer in the first 12 months. We did have problems but the local dealership wouldn't do a warranty repairs and Catterick wouldn't send out a mobile repairer. There are plenty of decent and trustworthy dealerships out there and I would recommend steering clear of Catterick Caravans and using one of their competitors

“DO NOT BUY FROM CATTERICK CARAVANS ”

written by Pilky47 on 18/09/2019

Damaged repaired new caravan This story happened on: 22/06/2019 We took delivery of our new Caravan in May 2019, when we put the order in for the caravan to be made we was told earliest delivery date would be July but it came in May .Great news. We purchased it at a cost of £25195 from what we thought was was a good dealership. On our third weekend away in June my daughter noticed a repair had been done on the back corner of the caravan which you only can see when the sunlight is directly shining on it, I took photos and sent them to the dealership, After emailing them every day for nine days I received No response from the manager , The service department secretary was assuring me she was passing the messages on to him ,he was still on willing to get back to me. I ended up going to the dealership and confronted him , first thing he said he put it in the hands of the service manager to contact me which he never did contact me ,he said the caravan had not been repaired by them and he will get in touch with the manufacturers to find out about the repair which after seeing the picture he replied that is on unacceptable repair . I explain to him when we went to pay the money for the caravan the sales rep would not let us see the caravan, The sales rep told us it was locked away in a compound which he unable to find the keys for ,I later found out the compound did not exist, I also asked him why I took 17 days for the handover of the caravan to us ,He was unable to explain this , I do believe the damage was caused at the dealership and they tried to hide it from use . Let’s wait and see what becomes of this Three weeks later Still not had the work done, We have had to coachwork body repair companies take a look at the rear panel of my new caravan both of them have come back saying there is evidence of repair and evidence of paint which new caravans are not painted they are gel coated panels, We went away in the caravan for a week in July and when we reached our destination the door retainer had fallen off also apart came off inside the cooker which we found in the vent on the cooker we had a very bad gas leak, Then the rain came and I took 8 different recordings over 2 days of very bad dripping noise inside the rear panel which had been damaged and repaired before we purchased this new van, On our way home we called in to the dealership Catterick caravans spoke to one of the technicians about all the faults his reply was with the gas part we found it was too dangerous and we needed to leave the van there, I let them listen to the recordings of the dripping noise when it was rain, I explain to them them for insurance purposes the van needed to have a wheel lock and the hitch fitted while it was parked in their premises and left the locks just inside the door for them to fit. The service department but not in the door window clearly stating the van must have the security locks fitted ,We had an alert on the alarm system on the Sunday so I drove down to the dealership which was open and busy with customers we found the van in the car park with no locking device fitted at all, I fitted the locks and drove home. I complained to the manager by email ,The reply was sorry we never locked your van up , There fixed the gas leak and the door retainer, I then received an email from the manager saying the dripping noise was due to the Central heating airlock, I told him to stop talking nonsense, We never even had the heating on it was 23° outside also I popped in to see what progress with my caravan and the technician had a hosepipe on the roof of the caravan and the rear corner cupboard dismantled, He told me he could hear it dripping but you could not tell where the water was getting in, All the manager is doing is fobbing me off I have now had an opportunity then to put this in the hands of my solicitors , why should we have to put up with this

“No After-sales care at all”

★☆☆☆☆

written by taHancock129 on 09/09/2019

We bought a brand new Venus Caravan on 25th May 2019 from Catterick Caravans. The following week we took the van away for the first time. On arrival at the caravan site we noticed that the front window had cracked while we had been travelling. This was the inside pane so unlikely to have been caused by road debris. We immediately contacted Catterick and reported the fault. We never heard anything back until we chased them up. We were then advised to take the van back so that they could repair it. After our short trip away we returned the van to storage. On 27th July we took the van to the Lake District. During the week after heavy rain we noticed that the van had water pooling on the front window sill, the water was not coming from the broken window. The extent of the water ingress was so server that the font sill became soft and damp to touch along with the nearside front wall. We immediately took the van back to Catterick Caravans stating that it was not fit for purpose in accordance with the Consumer Rights Act 2015. We requested a refund and left the van with Catterick. After not hearing from them we had to chase them up to see how they intended to resolve the situation. They declined a refund but offered us a replacement van. After this offer we were again left in limbo without any contact from Catterick Caravans. Today we have been advised that they are unable to provide us with a like for like replacement but have given no further indication as to how this issue may be resolved. They have been adamant that because we hadn't returned the van within the 30 days as stipulated in accordance with the Consumer Rights Act they were under no obligation to help us. We would argue that the fault i.e. water ingress and damp existed prior to the sale of the van and had not been discovered as the van had not been exposed to heavy rain. Needless to say at the time of writing we are no further forward. If you expect any kind of after-sales service you will be disappointed. Catterick Caravans despite having a designated After Sales Manager fail to respond to emails, fail to pass on messages and would appear to bury their heads in the sand until the customer gives up. We are now in the process of contacting a solicitor and advising Trading Standards of our predicament. I hope I will be able to write a better review I the next couple of weeks but I won't be holding my breath.

We went to collect our "brand new" caravan to find it fitted with a number plate(not ours) water roller connected gas bottles fitted, marks on the cooker and lockers and an external scratch on the bodywork. we were given various explanations but we think that the truth was that this van had been used at the NEC show. nobody from management would speak to us , Swift caravans declined to help , we took the van because we were going away in 2 weeks time. Never never ever deal with this company .

“Extremely poor aftersales”

written by geldav on 10/08/2019

I purchased a brand new caravan on the 15th May 2019 from Tyneside Leisureworld, at handover i was informed that the front window has a crack, but a new one had been ordered, so foolishly i took the caravan. when i got home i discovered that there was no manuals, I immediatley telephoned and again promised a set of manuals would be ordered, the correct manuals have never arrived Since May i have emailed, and telephoned on 4 different occasions, and each time was assured that someone would get an update and call me back, not once have anyone told me a timescale for the front window. I have now contacted Trading standards, and no surpise, Trading standards have dealt with them before. my only option left is to takae legal action against them, all to get a windown fixed. I would not recommend anyone purchasing a caravan from them, things might seem good, but trust me, when things go wrong, they are not interested

Your review could have been written by us. Bought a new Van in May. During first trip the front window cracked so was booked in for a repair. In the meantime we notice water ingress to the extent of pooling on the front sill. Van taken straight back and refund requested. Since then we have been ignored.

Picked up our new caravan yesterday, having paid the deposit 2 weeks ago the van still wasn't ready when we arrived. To cut a long story short we set off home and within half a mile the whole wheel fell off the van. The noise of the caravan dragging along the road was so loud and shocking that people living in nearby houses thought there had been a car crash! Someone retrieved the wheel and the postman found some of the wheel nuts. The motor mover had been smashed, the under carriage damaged and the panels ripped. We were shaken and gutted but had we been on the A1 it could have been a very different outcome which doesn't bear thinking about. We were traumatized. After being so excited about picking up the caravan we had to head home without one. Catterick caravans do not feel they need offer us any kind of compensation for our time, effort and trauma. They have offered us £500 off a caravan that is £3,500 dearer than the one we bought!!! DONT BUY A CARAVAN FROM CATTERICK CARAVANS!!!

After viewing and ordering a brand new 2017 Buccaneer Caravan from Catterick Caravans, which, with a few extras was going to cost well over £30,000, I was told that I could collect it the following week as it had already had its Pre Delivery Inspection for a customer who had then cancelled his order. Two days before I was due to collect the caravan, a salesman at Catterick Caravans phoned me to say that they had found some small blemishes to the bodywork and were sending it to a body-shop in Newcastle for repair, which would take about a week.I asked why the blemishes had been missed when the caravan had its previous PDI and was told that you could only see them in a certain light. I pointed out that if the caravan had faulty paintwork, Elddis the manufacturer would be responsible for the repair, so why was it going to a body-shop in Newcastle and not back to Elddis, whose premises were much nearer to Catterick Caravans than Newcastle. I was told that this was normal practice and they sent the invoice for the repair to Elddis. I did not believe that Catterick Caravans were telling me the truth as the so called blemished paintwork had been missed by the manufacturers of the caravan panels, missed by Elddis when putting the caravan together, missed by Catterick Caravans when doing the PDI for the previous buyer and missed by my wife & I when we had viewed the caravan. After discussing the situation with my wife, I phoned Catterick Caravans back and said I wanted to view the blemished paintwork for myself, even though Catterick Caravans is 50 miles or so from my home, but was told the caravan had already gone to Newcastle, which is 100 miles from my home, subsequently preventing me from being able to view it as I did not have the time to travel so far, due to my wife being severely disabled. I instead emailed Elddis's Customer Care Department with several questions and whilst waiting for a reply (Elddis take weeks to answer emails, no matter how important the content), Catterick Caravans phoned me back to say that their body-shop needed a further 10 days to complete the repair. As I just did not know exactly what damage my supposedly NEW caravan had sustained, I decided to cancel my order, but even then, Catterick Caravans still tried to get me to continue with the purchase by offering me a £500 discount on the price we had previously agreed. I did not take up their offer!! Moving on to Elddis, not only were they abysmally slow in responding to my emails, they were continuously evasive in answering straight forward questions and refused to send me a copy of the invoice for the repair work (I don't believe they ever got an invoice as the caravan repair was most probably not a manufacturing fault but damage sustained at Catterick Caravans). Elddis's Customer Care Department is no more than a joke, with their Managing Director fairing no better. It is clear that Elddis place more importance on the retailers of their caravans than on the customers who purchase them. I shall submit a separate review on Elddis when I can find the time to do so, but I will never purchase a caravan manufactured by them and would strongly advise against buying anything from Catterick Caravans.

Customer service???? After waiting over ten days to receive such a small in- expensive item off their Ebay site I can only say that I am glad it was only £8 I was spending with this company. And after I spoke today to the company I was told that the person who deals with this site had been on holiday.I was also told that when I placed the order that this would of been made aware to me by flashing across the top of the screen before placing the order. This did not happen , however the person who I spoke to said it did. Straight away I knew by their tone that customer service is not something that this person implements. If I had been aware that my order was going to take so long to arrive then like most people I would of placed an order with another company. Basically I felt that my conversation today was more a case of well if you do not like it, then tough.Yes they said that the items had been dispatched today but that was it.I must be thankful though as like I said it was only an £8 order. £8 or £8,000 ,£18,000 customer service should be there .I have had to give one star for terrible as I was unable to give no star.VERY FEW REMEMBER GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE.... HOWEVER SO MANY REMEMBER BAD SERVICE AND TELL ABOUT IT.

I am about to buy a £41,500 roller team motorhome from catterick caravans after what seems like a good deal at the camping and caravan show Feb 2017. I was told that finance of £20,000 is in place. However I do not have any paperwork to confirm this and the sales person tells me it has all been put in place and paperwork is not given out anymore and everything will be fine. I have asked for her to confirm this in an email but so far nothing. The only correspondence from the company only shows the full amount to be paid into a foriegn bank account. I would like to know if anyone else has been offered finance only to find it is not in place when they arrive to collect their vehicle?
