Insured with Sainsburys, Started new job away from home staying in a hotel 4 nights of the week. So being astute and honest rang them to inform them car would be kept 4 nights of the week away from home address as had been initially disclosed on proposal. Told they would not insure and cancelled my policy giving me 14 days to arrange alternative cover and they have promised they would refund for the period remaining on the policy term. Be warned though, when an insurance company canels a policy you have to disclose it each time you look for a new quote, which results in you being classed as high risk. It then becomes a nightmare explaining by telephone to numerous companies the cancellation was on the grounds that you were being up front doing the right thing by informing them of a change in where the vehicle is kept overnight. Surely they must be aware of the implications of a person having a policy cancelled mid term, you would think they could explain the situation better and offer you the chance to cancel the policy yourself which would not effect you receiving new quotes etc and not lable you as a potential high risk. Customer service was abrupt with poorly trained staff who blamed the underwriters and offered no assistance in the matter. I would have been willing to pay an additional premium for the change in the overnight address but they didnt want to entertain that and just abruptly told me they would cancel the policy.
It appears new business is their target but once you enlist with them their caring helpful attitude is nil.
My advice, despite their quotes on comparison sites coming up cheap, do not use them pay a littel more and go with an established Insurer who is in the Insurance business not the grocery business.
