I am looking to get insurance through Kwik Fit as they are the cheapest but I do not have the best credit rating. Does this matter?

I don't believe it matters, what's the harm.in applying?? Go for it

As they were the cheapest we actually paid in one lump sum so I am afraid we can't help. Having said that my credit rating is not good and they had agreed to set up a monthly direct debit payment before we decided to pay cash. It is worth asking them.

I don't think it matters so long as you can pay your deposit and your monthly payments hope this helps

Hopefully you have received them now (Monday 13th April) but if not, contact kwikfit as they may not have your correct email address.

If you needed your Insurance to start with immediate effect I would phone them straight away - if it is Insurance to start at the end f the of the month then 24 hours is the longest I would wait. Perhaps for your own piece of mind it would be better to phone them and make sure everything is in place properly and that all the details and needs you have given have been covered correctly. Good luck

I purchased insurance for my car last night and my MOT is due any day, so I thought great a free MOT with the policy. How so I book this? It says online, but they are trying to charge me £30. Any number I ring is either unhelpful or rings with no answer! Has anyone else experienced this?

I think there is a code that you will need to put in at some point through the booking an MOT process. I remember taking out the insurance and having the same problem so eventually ended up taking my car to a local garage for its MOT. I think I remember receiving an email from Kwikfit regarding how to book your free MOT and doing something on their appointment page but when I tried it, they still wanted to charge me!!

You have a cooling off period so I would recommend cancelling this policy and use somebody else to insure you these people are damn right rude and useless to be polite and very expensive in the long run.. use someone like fresh start they used the same broker and we're 100s cheaper

Hi nellie999 - any car insurance quote these days is available for a limited time unless you get a written quote from the insurance company direct - as they run a search for the cheapest quote for you at the time of your searching the internet - so if you took the quote a day later it could be more or sometimes less than it was the day before. If given a reference number on paper from the source it will stipulate how long the quote is valid for on the paper given. Short answer is that the quote you get online is valid for a short period of hours only - I have also phoned Kwik Fit and asked them to make sure that this is correct. I hope this help you in your decision.

Uusually in a case like this, you might have set a future date or time to start your cover from. If you had taken the insurance out and you got pulled over on the same date then it may be a time issue. For example: Your cover will start today at 12:00. Do not drive until 12:00. Just ring quick fit and ask what the problem is. Been with Kwik Fit for 2 years now, no problems. They even offered to match a lower offer I got from someone else.

I agree with Blessy, It sounds like your start time may be the issue, I would however check with your bank and make sure they did cover your first payment as some banks can 'flag' a new vendor attempting to set up a debit or standing order. If you paid for the whole year upfront it may be that the bank held the payment. Check your payment then phone Kwik Fit and ask what has happened on their side. Yes I have had this happen but not with the mentioned insurer, took the insurance - thought I was covered from 12h00 that day only to get pulled over and questioned and to find that my cover only started at midnight. The Police were in this instant very understanding and did not tow the car. I hope they didn't tow yours either - good luck.

I would think it would depend on the operation you had and whether you are "fit to drive" as diagnosed by your doctor now its complete. If you are on any medications which by their nature can cause tiredness, dizziness and any other symptoms that could affect your driving ability, then you should not drive anyway! I think good old common sense should prevail but if your not sure, then your doctor is your first point of call. Hope thats of some help, just my two penny's worth ;)

Your G.P will be able to give you advice on whether you can drive or not. It depends whether you have had abdominal surgery or surgery on your limbs, also if you are on strong painkillers or not. Abdominal surgery by keyhole+ you are advised not to drive for 4-6 weeks following surgery due to internal self-disolving stitches & the diaphragm take a lot longer to heal & knit back together, if it is open surgery then it is usually 12 weeks before you can drive. If it limb surgery it isn't advisable to drive until you have had physiotherapy or the ok from your G.P. Analgesia can affect your concentration, if you are taking any codeine based pain killers or morphine based pain killers, also some anti-inflamitories other than steroid can make you drowsy and/or make your a difference with your concentration (a bit like driving after drinking 3-5 pints of beer). Best to check with your G.P first as then your insurance will be valid if given the ok. Hope this helps.

I would not advise driving after 2 weeks unless doctor says otherwise dependant on what type of operation and what kind of pain relief or medication you are taking as if you needed to claim on your insurance and your insurers found out about such events then you would not be covered.

If you are fit to drive without aid then yes.

IN MY OPINION YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE COVERED BUT IT IS UNLIKELY YOU WOULD BE ABLE TO CLAIM FOLLOWING AN ACCIDENT AS HOSPITALS USUALLY SAY YOU SHOULD NOT DRIVE FOR SIX WEEKS AFTER AN OPERATION I HAVE HAD MANY TYPES OF INSURANCE OVER THE YEARS AND HAVE NOT PAID UP AS THEY ARE FRAUGHT WITH DISHONESTY AND CCORRUPTION

Hiya I'm afraid I don't know. I've never had to change a car during the lifetime of my insurance with them. I can only suggest you give 'em a ring.

Hi, I've just changed my car mid term and there was a £30 adjustment charge. I was also given the chance of a quote for house insurance. The deal was good and I've swapped my house insurance, I got £20 cash back on the house insurance and £30 cash back on my car insurance. With all this I've just got house insurance for just under £2 for the full year! Hope this helps
