Made Up Charges
You are charging me a £20 admin fee for setting up a policy with you and you have made the error! The details I completed on the form were correct at the time but when I received the documents they were incorrect. How does that even happen! I phoned you to let you know what had happened and you keep me hanging on the phone for 20 minutes, then tell me policy can’t be cancelled and my monies refunded for 24 hours...less £20 admin fee! Absolutely disgusting!
I will be reporting your company to the Financial Ombudsman unless you refund the £177.91 back to my bank account.

DO NOT GET INSURANCE HERE. close claims that are not complete leave me in limbo to who was a fault 12 mouths of higher insurance could not be bothered to chase outher insurer thank you Hastings direct. if you like left music get on the phone to them avrage wait time about 45mins #stayway #wasteofspace #outherinsurer #dontgetinsurancehere
Put Inaccurate Entries On Underwriting Exchange Database!
The entry was made on 25/01/2014 as a result of my notification of criminal damage to my car whilst parked unattended overnight, the wing mirror had been kicked off and there was a boot print on my driver door and front offside wing. The car was my Vauxhall Astra 1.4. I did not make a claim and decided to pay myself for the repairs. I reported it to the police who gave me a crime number. On 28/7/16 I have discovered whilst trying to purchase car insurance with AA that Hastings Direct entered onto the Underwriting Exchange database that it was an 'accident' and that I was the driver at the time of the accident!
This is in breach of Article 4 of the Data Protection Act 1998 as data must be recorded fairly and accurately and it isn't. I cannot renew my insurance due on 1/8/16 with this false entry which cannot be amended by anyone other than Hastings Direct. I've phoned twice and both state it says malicious damage on Hastings own systems with £0 claimed. Both apologised and stated someone from claims dept would phone and no one has. Very P oor service and worrying that a company can get away with recording inaccurate information.AVOID,

Avoid At All Cost! Rubbish Car Insurance
I insured with Hastings direct in May 2014 all was fine until I was involved in a none fault crash (someone t boned me after running through a red light) I was made to feel it was my fault Even though I had 3 witnesses proving I wasn't at fault. Hastings would have found this out if any of my witnesses received any correspondence that was supposedly sent to them. After 2 months of constantly calling and been advised more had been sent out to the witnesses still nothing so logged a complaint, final response was £29 compensation, logged a further complaint and cancelled my claim as Hastings offered me £100 for my car so in long run would have been a lot more Hastings then delivered my car back to me. Had to log another complaint as 3 months after the accident my witnesses still hadn't received any witness statements and wouldn't apply for the police statements as they would have had to pay for it. January 2015 received a letter from the police showing the lady who crashed into me had been charged, contacted Hastings who advised me unfortunately it doesn't show who was at fault so logged another complaint. It wasn't until my lawyer sent a letter with the police letter enclosed that Hastings then put it as a no fault claim. Changed my bank details with Hastings and 2 months later checked my old account which showed an active direct debit to hastings so had 2 direct debits set up my old and new one. Cancelled my old direct debit and received a threatening letter saying I'd cancelled all of my direct debits which I had not so once again logged another complaint. Paid my final instalment in March with my insurance due to be renewed the 23rd of may to which I politely informed them I would never insure with them ever again so turned off auto renewal. May 23rd 2015 I was abroad on holiday logged on to my emails and received an email from Hastings with new policy documents absolutely fuming called from abroad to be told it wasn't renewed even though I'd received my new documents showing my new insurance. Insured with a new insurance company who told me I had a claim on my file to the value of £156 doesn't sound like a lot but been 23 it can majorly affect you. So once again not even a customer had to call them to sort out a mess made by Hastings who explained the £156 claim was the delivery of my car, admin fees and the £29 compensation. How can this be right if it's a non fault claim all costs are recovered from fault parties insurance and why do they think it's acceptable to charge me my compensation for their mistakes so once again logged another complaint, requesting a DSAR and sending it to the financial ombudsman.

Avoid, someone hit my car at the end of aug the day the mot ran out on my car, it took hasting over a week to collect the car 4 weekds on with no contact i told them to keep me updated as i was looking to change the car before the accident happened they have fixed my car which cost £923 to fix, the car is only worth £400-$450 without a mot, the garage put the car through a mot and it failed now leaving me with no car the car was fine when it went to the garage. am sick of ringing hasting they never ring you they are a total waste of time, i am now considering court action.

No Help Whatsoever When Making A Claim - I Had To
No help whatsoever when making a claim - I had to do all the work (phoning repairers, sorting courtesy car, contacting solicitors) and had to chase Hastings every step of the way for progress reports. Non-fault claim took 6 months to sort, leaving me £150 out of pocket as my renewal came up before the claim had been closed.
Wrote a letter of complaint a month ago and still haven't received any response.
Said I was a member of the AA when I was actually with RAC. Have asked THREE times for information on my current breakdown cover and still nothing.
Staff don't seem to have been trained sufficiently to deal with any enquiries and all give different (usualy incorrect) advice.
I could go on for ever.
I would certainly not advise anyone to insure through Hastings Direct. It may be slightly cheaper than other companies but the service is appalling.

Having Purchased A Policy With A "protected No Cla
Having purchased a policy with a "protected no claims" I had to make a claim after an accident in which I was the innocent party. I was told that my no claims would be protected provided they recovered their costs from the other, foreign driver, but if they did not recover the costs - and they were very reluctant to even try - I would lose my no claims of many years standing.
When moving insurers, I had the devil of a job getting evidence of my no claims from them, no renewal notice having been sent.

I Called Hastings To Give Them Details Of A Speedi
I called Hastings to give them details of a speeding fine I got (my first) and they tried to charge me the equivalent of another £220 a year for it - nearly double my policy. I knew the woman was wrong in trying to charge me because when I had called previously re-adding a friend to my insurance I had been told by another member of staff that there was no charge for additional points. When I queried this with the woman that I spoke to when trying to give them the details she became very aggresive when I said I wouldn't pay until she could point me to where in the terms and conditions it said extra charges were payable. When she couldn't and I said I wanted to go away and look at my policy booklet she threatened me with fraud, saying "well we've got your credit card details anyway" - i.e. if you don't agree we'll just put it on your card anyway. After speaking to my lawyer they dropped it, saying it had been a "clerical error". Don't go anywhere near them with a bargepole!
