“Beyond a disgrace”

★☆☆☆☆

written by AiyanaCooper on 04/01/2023

Covea deserve no stars - one star makes it sound like they have some redeeming features. I was insured by Covea and so was the guy who crashed into me. They insisted my claim was for information purposes only - who does this? They denied me a hire car at first. It is 3 weeks short of a year and I am still waiting for complete settlement. Is it because they are trying to avoid paying out their own money, would they be like this if they were working 100% on my behalf. I understand the profit motive - but this is dishonesty

“Excellent and exceeding customer expectations”

★★★★★

written by soniaward22 on 05/10/2022

I had a few issues with my settlement and he made it his priority to make sure everything was sorted whilst on the phone with him. He phoned the different departments and kept me informed at all stages of what he was doing so I wasnt waiting in limbo. He also made sure that I do get a follow up from the other dpeartments and made sure I would send him documents to verify that i was sending the correct info and not have to then call back. He made me feel a very valued customer and his customer services skill where superb Would highly recommend Cove and the advisor.. An asset to any company!

“Car hit by their insured”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Nigelm196 on 27/04/2022

Completely awful to deal with.My car was by their client, you will have one agent tell you one thing and the other will say they were in correct and that they will get further trading. You get no updates to what is happening after they take the car they promise to get back to you but never do.My advise to anyone who gets hit by clients Insured with them is to either go through your own insurance or get a claims management team to deal with.

“WARNING TO EVERYONE ABOUT CoveaInsurancePlc and...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by MarkBradford on 30/11/2019

WARNING TO EVERYONE ABOUT CoveaInsurancePlc and apollomotorgroupltd Long story short… My wife's car was hit in a corner of Sainsbury’s car park at the end of August (minor damage to bumper & wing) so it was picked up by Covea’s approved garage Apollo Motor Group of Portsmouth & taken to their Basingstoke branch. Covea decided to write it off despite the car being mechanically sound when Apollo picked it up from us. Apollo had the car for 4 or 5 weeks but no-one contacted me to say it was a write off until I rang them. I decided to get the car repaired from an independent bodyshop recommended by a friend who owns his own insurance brokerage rather than accept their insulting salvage amount. The bodyshop alerted me to a few things when I picked it up a few days later including the coolant container & lid being damaged so oil was mixing with the coolant. On the way home I broke down on the M4 & had to be rescued by the AA. The bodyshop said that the car had been tampered with because oil was mixing with the coolant & sprayed all over the engine. Only the bumper was damaged; now the car’s engine is ruined beyond repair. Covea & Apollo deny any liability! The bodyshop is convinced Covea sabotaged the car & took parts for other vehicles which happens a lot apparently on ‘write-off’s; they also stole the spare wheel, jack & tow device from the boot but again deny that! The bodyshop is convinced they removed parts knowing they were going to write it off which is very concerning; it was also filthy when it was returned. I HAVE REPORTED IT TO THE POLICE and now will pursue them thru’ the Financial Ombudsman. The car was fully serviced & MOT’d recently so there was nothing wrong with it mechanically; but when I picked it up & drove it back it seized up & the damage is terminal…the engine has been tampered with & parts taken from it…the missing wheel & jack proves this. Something very suspicious has happened since I decide not to accept the salvage offer. Finally my broker GroveandDean have been so unhelpful too. DO NOT INSURE ANYTHING WITH CoveaInsurancePlc

“COVEA ARE A TERRIBLE DUBIOUS COMPANY & VERY BADLY RUN”

★☆☆☆☆

written by photowriter on 11/06/2019

I had a a car accident in Europe 100% not my fault all documents OK it took over a week to make contact and claim. Emails not replied to, telephone not working properly at their end. Now 17 days after after the accident They make a derisory offer and have left me stranded here in the middle of nowhere all this time. Promised flight home. Now seems to have forgotten that They offer half of what my car is worth and then drop on more ' expenses and dubious claims. as an insurer they are the pits and are trying to defraud me. They owe me for time stuck here, a flight home and the money to replace my car. Their profit went from £24 to £1.5m last year , seems its time this company was fully investigated. Do not touch them. Provident Insurance were always very dubious and they are part of this group. The French CEO was forced to resign over a conflict of interest last year, but seems to be back. British MD blames all sorts of things for the drop in profits, but never themselves. So is this insurance company now defrauding it customers to stop its own rot ? They are the insurers for SAGA so be aware.

“Diorganised and unhelpful.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by wiilowsprite on 03/10/2017

Over two months ago my car was hit whilst it sat parked outside my house. The driver failed to stop. This obviously upset me but as I knew I had taken out comprehensive cover I felt safe that everything would be sorted out in a matter of weeks. At present my car is still sitting parked outside my house with a huge dent in the rear door and wheel arch. I'll try to condense the facts, it's still going to be an essay but I would like to forewarn anyone thinking about taking out insurance with Covea - through Swinton via a comparison website. Within the hour of it happening I rang the insurance company. The lady gave me a phone number of the closest garage that they used. I asked if I could use my local garage but was told that doing so would cause the process to be drawn out. She assured me that the garage would contact me within a couple of days. Four days later I had a call from them to book my car in. Later that day I realised that no courtesy car had been discussed which would have left me stuck, with my dog, in Swansea. I attempted to call the garage back on the number I was given. The number didn't work. I googled the garage for an alternative number but there wasn't one. I rang my insurers back and was told they would contact them again. A few days later I rang my insurers again and was told they couldn't contact them either. At this point I expressed that sending my car off to a garage miles away that couldn't be contacted even by the insurance company didn't inspire confidence in me. I was then told they would instruct a different garage to contact me. I waited and waited but no phone call was received. I rang the insurers again to enquire what was happening and to lodge a complaint. They apologised profusely and said they would again get them to contact me. Finally I had a phone call, whilst I was out walking the dog. They didn't leave a number but told my son I should contact them. I used 1471 and got through to a garage, the original garage that I stated I wouldn't use. The lady on the phone was adamant that they hadn't rung me earlier and the last contact they had with me was when we initially spoke in August. A week after returning from a trip to Portugal I rang my insurers again to update them and ask if any progress was being made on my complaint. I was told that no complaint had been logged and the young man on the phone implied that no progress had been made because I had 'gone quiet' for a few weeks. I told him that I now wanted to take it to my own garage and he informed me that pictures would first need to be taken of the damage, which could take a few days before they sent a man out, or he could text me a link for me to send the pictures. I opted for the latter. I was assured that he would do this on ending the call. So I waited, nothing all day. This morning I rang again. They had the wrong number. I gave them the right number and was again assured that the text would come through. Obviously the reason I am sitting at my pc ranting instead of photographing the damage to my car is that it didn't. I have spent nearly four hours in queues and conversations on the phone . In all honesty, dealing with Covea has been a more stressful experience than the accident itself. I will now be taking it further as clearly trying to communicate with the company by phone is getting me nowhere.

“WORST INSURANCE COMPANY I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH”

★☆☆☆☆

written by JulieShea on 24/08/2017

Would strongly advise not to take a policy with this company. The colluded with the Repairs Centre to change the report that assessed the damage to our car, the quote the Repairs Centre gave to us increased by £3,000 after we complained that the Insurance were writing of our car and that the cost we had been given were within 60% of the value of the car. Took my complaint to Management level who continually lied to us about many aspects of our claim. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES TAKE A POLICY FROM THIS COMPANY BECAUSE IF YOU ARE IN THE UNFORTUNATE CIRMCUSTANCES TO BE IN AN ACCIDENT YOU WILL REGRET HAVING DONE SO.

“Worst customer service ever”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Marianuria on 02/02/2017

I had a small accident with my car, only a little crack close to the front light. Covea recommended DWS Slough to repair my car, Car was collected on the 08th December 2016 and it wasn't ready until 13th January 2017, a Lorry hit my car meanwhile it was in the garage being repaired, Nobody informed me of the accident, I found out only by chance,on 3 occasions I was told that the car will be ready in a couple of days and it never was, they never answered their phones. I complained to Covea for the damage received in my car meanwhile if was in the garage care and the bad customer service received by them and Covea refuse to admit that there is a reason for complaint at all. It is unbelievable that a car can be damaged meanwhile it has been repaired and you don't even receive an apology from Covea. Disgusting!!

“Avoid at all costs”

written by Olson119 on 28/01/2017

Accident 24 hours ago, already trying to pretend I hadn't told Halifax(whom I thought were the insurers) of an MS90 licence endorsement when I had. They said I'd be called back but not a bit of it. The way its been handled so far is appalling verging on shambolic. I can see a rough and very expensive ride ahead...KEEP AWAY!

“Absolutely shocking insurance company ”

written by Kristianmorris on 18/01/2017

Hi, I just want to add to coveas well earned bad reviews, I was in a non fault accident and to cut a long story short the car is in for repair but covea will not cover the full repairs they'll replace new wheels but will not replace the tyres even tho the repairers have told them they need to be, they won't repair a spring as they are trying to state it's due to wear and tear, they tell lies constantly, never return calls at all, the staff are obviously very poorly trained as they cannot log the proper information constantly logging the wrong information I just hope they actually do record all calls and hopefully the financial ombudsman does there job and gets my money back. Stay well clear of these RIP off merchants.

“They are used by the RAC”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 338Ball on 03/12/2016

This company should be avoided. They tell you that they need to asses liability before any repairs can take place. This misleading. The courts use the engineering report generated by the repairer as evidence. My accident happened in august and was quite clearly not my fault I was side swiped by another motorist. Before I even described the accident they wanted to go 50/50. The only way you get contact from this company is if you initiate it. It is now December and I feel no closer to getting my car repaired. If you value your sanity avoid this company.

Car written off by a hit and run driver. All communications were led by me. Promised calls never materialised and the settlement figure was a joke! This was through the RAC. Do not use at any cost.

“Stay away from this company”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 14/06/2015

Accident 5 weeks and counting before repair will be completed needs new front nose, cant supply courtesy car even though its covered garage they use has been poor. All communication has been left to me to find out whats going on poorest customer support I have come across ever. Be Wiser have been no better and need to provide a rating scale for their recommendations so poor insurers cant behave like this.

“Waste of space”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 01/07/2014

I was hit by another vehicle in November 2012, the driver of which did not inform her insurance. Covea eventually collected my car and provided a hire vehicle, as per the contract, but because of the delay in processing the case because of the other party, the car hire took longer than expected. It was agreed that the fault lie in the other party, and that my no claims discount would be unaffected. After Christmas 2012, while I was still waiting for Covea's vehicle assessment, I was informed the hire vehicle had to be returned immediately because the hire company had gone into liquidation. Covea could not provide me with another vehicle nor process my claim because of 'administration problems'. I therefore had to withdraw savings to buy another vehicle to get me to and from work as there is no bus service where I live. After the accident, I was subjected to call after call trying to persuade me to sue for whiplash, or other physical injury, despite the fact that I had no injury whatsoever, and had made this very clear. I was even asked to perform 'neck exercises' over the phone to verify I had no 'pain'. I felt this highly suspicious and told Covea so in writing. Eventually the phone calls stopped. Eventually, in MAY, seven months after the initial accident Covea made an offer of less than a third the car's value, proffering excuses as to why it was so low (high mileage, damaged paintwork etc) when the mileage was less than 7.000 a year average, and the only damage was that caused by the accident. When I refused the offer they immediately upped it 10 per cent. I knew exactly what the car was worth, having already done my research, and insisted on this figure. Covea refused, and then, like a spoiled child stamping his feet, refused to answer subsequent letters. Several weeks later I decided to take them to the small claims court for the full amount. Within a day of receiving their summons they offered me the full amount which I then accepted. I then changed my insurer. Since then, a solicitor contacted me regarding the person who hit me who said that their insurance were refusing to pay, and agreed to act for "me" in the forthcoming court case, sending me a form to complete of 30 pages or so that would be used in court to settle "my" case. I pointed out in no uncertain terms that it was nothing to do with me, that I would therefore not complete the form, that I was not making any claim myself, that the matter should be referred back to Covea and that I was no longer a customer of theirs and that, as far as I was concerned the matter had been settled. The solicitor then sent me a reminder, having ignored my previous letter. I then replied that if Covea wished to take the other insurers to court to retrieve their losses, then that was their business, and none of mine, especially in view of the fact that they had received all my details at the start of the case the previous November. But if the solicitors continued to contact me like this I would also begin legal proceedings for harassment. The letters then stopped. Only two weeks ago (June 2014), Covea eventually wrote to me to inform m that the case was settled, as if I cared. They act like a bunch of amateurs, and, if their 'neck exercises'are anything to go by, a bunch of crooks too. Don't touch them with the proverbial bargepole.

“ COVEA INSURANCE wouldn' recommend to my worst enemy”

★☆☆☆☆

written by kimwhyte on 13/06/2014

When taking out your car insurance with a broker, ask them if they use Covea Insurance. If they answer yes stay well clear. Had my accident on the 9th may they didn't send someone to pick my car up until the 27th may. Its now the 13/06/2014 and i'm still in a hire car. My car is a cat d. Had an accident that wasn't my fault, the other party hit me twice. First in the side then up the rear. She was driving an automatic hit the gas both times instead of the brake. Covea have offered me £2770 for a 59 reg Fiat Panda active eco with 33,000 miles on the clock. the car was in pristine condition both inside and out before the crash. I can't afford to buy a car the same as what I had on that offer. They say they use glasses car guide. So I checked it for myself. My cars value on there is £3140-£3740. Lol Covea you are a joke and what you offer for peoples cars is an insult to that person. STAY AWAY FROM COVEA INSURANCE!!!!!!!
