£30 to cancel immediately and long before policy starts date

I can see other people have had similar experiences, I clicked through from a comparison site and paid and then followed all the instructions immediately, is, open a customer account and check all the details and inform straight away of anything that needs amending, realised my named drivers details hadn't all come through properly, ended up on the chat bot and after a long wait on to an agent, site kept crashing and kept trying to log me out etc etc the whole process took hours and at times I felt the tone of the agent I had was rude. This fee felt like I'd been robbed as I researched that most companies allow you to cancel for free before the policy starts....poor way to treat people, if I'd have been able to cancel free if charge, I'd have likely redone my quote and stayed with my choice, but I felt scorned by the whole experience.

So far so good

Did my 26 day pre renewal check as per MSE and Budget were cheapest to include actually more than I currently had with AVIVA . The only bugbear is the excess BUT even increasing the excess with my current insurer didn't reduce the premium, so that was that! The site seems clear to use, I would however like a proper app, but its easy to put the link on my phone, perhaps an app is on its way. Anyway the proof of all insurance is its claims handling, which I hope never to use!

Car Insurance Excess Rip-Off

I was looking for car insurance. The best quote for me was Budget Insurance. On MSM it said the total excess was £350. When I went to the Budget site it said the same. I paid for the insurance. When I looked at my policy dashboard it said total excess was £500. I called Budget. They said the information they received from MSM was an excess of £500. I know it wasn't as I had screenshots. They refused to change it without an increase in premium. I said I wanted to cancel within the 14 day period. Budget charged me a £30 cancellation fee! This is an unscrupulous and untrustworthy company and I will never use them again.

The arrangement fee charged on all our policies is £30. This is given within the terms and conditions of the contract before the policy is taken out.

There are a number of reasons why the fee becomes chargeable when your policy is cancelled. A few include:

- When the policy is paid as monthly installments, we need to set up the credit agreement to ensure that the direct debit instruction can be put in place. There is a charge given for this action.

- We have to send notice to the Underwriter to inform them that a new policy has been set up under your details so that in the event of a claim your details are already listed with the Underwriter.

- We send off a request to update the Motor Insurance Database to confirm that the vehicle is now insured with us. There is a charge given to us for doing this.

- We also need to ensure that the correct documents are provided to you immediately after the policy has been taken out so you have access to them and can read through the important information.

We as a company are charged more for the cancellation but we charge the set amount of £30 as this is what we have found through our own research is a reasonable amount to charge.

Fee of over £30 to abandon un-commenced policy

Almost immediately after paying I realised I had made a mistake with information relating to my additional driver, so I thought the prudent thing for me to do was cancel and start all over again, but although I thought your information suggests I could cancel my up and coming car insurance online, I found I could not. So I phoned Budget Insurance, only to be told I would be charged a fee of over £30 if I cancelled even though I had phoned no more than two hours after paying the full amount and my policy was not set to start for another 28 days time. That Stinks and so I will be telling everyone I know in every way I can these facts about my experience with Budget Insurance.

Be careful when you click to go to the website to continue and confirm your purchase. When I searched via Quotezone I Inclouded to search with breakdown cover included which returned a price which did include it, however when I clicked to confirm my order and purchase it eas not included and had to be sddrd as AN extta........not good. However the price was stll favourable so i continued to purchase. So all good . But do watch out !

£30 fee for cancelling within 24 hours.

I’m extremely disappointed with my recent experience and feel compelled to share just how unfairly I’ve been treated. Frankly, it feels as though £30 has been stolen from me for a policy I held for less than 24 hours. I had taken out car insurance with Budget in anticipation of collecting a vehicle from a dealership. However, upon arriving, the car failed to start, and I immediately walked away from the deal. As the car was no longer being purchased, I requested a refund for the insurance policy shortly afterwards — within approximately 12 hours of taking it out. Only then was I informed of a £30 arrangement fee. I found this extremely unreasonable and requested that the fee be waived, considering the circumstances and the very short time the policy was active. The customer service agent, however, flatly refused and stated that the fee could not be waived. When I asked for the issue to be escalated or for someone else to review it, he simply doubled down and repeated that the fee would stand. Whether or not this fee is mentioned in the small print of the policy is beside the point. It’s buried in the details and not clearly presented — and more importantly, it is fundamentally unfair in cases like mine. I never even had the chance to use the policy and yet I’m being penalised as if I had. This experience has left a sour taste and, unfortunately, has ruled out any possibility of me considering Budget for car insurance in the future. Had the situation been handled with even a hint of flexibility or fairness, I might have remained a potential customer. Instead, I now feel let down and out of pocket for no good reason.

I found insuring my car with Budget was quick and easy. My renewal quote from my previous insurance company had nearly doubled, Budget's quote was £70.00 cheaper, whats not to like?

Excellent Customer Service

When i had to make a claim, due to a fire in next door's garden. I was treated with courtesy and the claim was settled far faster than I expected. They took time and trouble to make sure that I was happy and providing all the information was easy. The price is still competitive, as well.
