Heavy Overcharging

This company overcharge you heavily, and then ignores all emails, phonecalls and messengers. I strongly reckomend you take your business elsewhere to a serious company.

Car Hire

I have had a terrible experience with this company after booking a car on line only to find with two weeks to go before my holiday I have no booking.

I even spoke to a representative many months before to confirm that everything was ok as they were experiencing email problems and they assured me my booking was complete

I strongly advise you to be very careful regarding using this organisation as right up to the last they have been totally unhelpful. They will not return my calls, answer emails and when you SMS they just say speak to the office. The office is not even picking the phone up today!

Warning - Read Before You Rent!

On the 30th of August 2011 we landed on the Malaga airport. We had two cars booked with Auriga Crown rental company, but unfortunately there was a problem with our credit card and they did not accept cash payment. After looking for a while we found Tony’s Rent a Car which offered us two Grande Puntos and accepted the fact that we pay in cash. We signed the contracts with them, paid for the rental for 13 days and also 500EUR (250EUR per car) deposit in case we brake the cars. We paid all in cash. The Tony’s Rent a Car representative promised that we will get back the deposit by bank transfer, because our plane back to Poland was very early in the morning and there was nobody from their company on the airport at that time of day. During our holidays someone tried to break into one of the cars and damaged one of the door locks. We reported this to Tony’s Rent a Car by phone.

We returned the cars to the agreed place on the 12th of September and we flew home. As soon as we landed I sent an e-mail to Tony’s Rent a Car with my bank account details asking them to send me back the deposit money. They did not answer. On the 13th of September 2011 I sent them another e-mail asking if they received the previous one. After 2 days, on the 15th of September I received an e-mail from Eva who said that as soon as they know the price for fixing the door lock they will send the money back.

I did not hear from them for the next 6 days. On the 19th of September I sent another e-mail asking if there is any progress about giving back the deposit. Because I did not receive any reply, on the 21st of September 2011 I sent one more e-mail. They did not reply. After another several days I started calling them. I called to their office 3-4 times per day. Nobody picked up the phone. Then I found a mobile number to a guy called Fernando who actually was Tony’s Rent a Car employee who gave us our cars, signed the contract with us and took the money. He promised he will contact the office and see what’s the situation. He called me back after couple of minutes saying that the office told him that the bank transfer has already been made. I waited for about a week but the money did not enter my bank account. On the 3rd of October 2011 I sent them an e-mail saying that I still did not receive my deposit money. I asked them politely to confirm if the transfer has actually been made and how much did they send (I didn’t know how much has been deducted for the door lock). I also asked them to send me the bank transfer confirmation so I can check the situation with my bank. Guess what… they did not answer.

I started calling them again. I could not reach the office despite the fact I was calling them 3-4 times per day. Nobody picked up the phone. The only person who talked to me was Fernando, claiming he cannot do anything but to report to the office. Finally someone in the office picked up the phone. I wanted to talk to Eva, but the lady who answered the phone said that Eva is not in the office. I described my situation and she said that I should not worry, because the transfer has been made and I will receive the money soon. At that point I didn’t trust them at all, so I asked her to tell Eva that I need the bank transfer confirmation to be sent by e-mail. She promised I will receive it. Guess what… I didn’t.

On the 7th of October 2011 I lost my patience. I sent them a following e-mail:

Any chance for a reply? I still did not receive the transfer. Don’t you think it would be polite to finally reply to ANY of the e-mails I sent you? If you keep on ignoring me and I will not get my money today, I am going to hire an attorney from Malaga to represent me and open a law suit against you. Also if I don’t hear from you, I will describe the whole situation about the deposit and put it on every internet forum I found and do my best to warn people not to use your services.

Do you think they replied? Yes, you are right. They didn’t.

On the 10th of October I started searching the web for opinions about them. It turned out that I am not the only person they have deceived. I added my entry on the tripadvisor.co.uk forum and on their Google opinions page. When this was done I decided to send them a fake enquiry to see how fast they will reply. I said I want to book a Grande Punto for a week. Eva replied to the enquiry in less than an hour. Impressive, isn’t it? I replied from the fake e-mail address showing her the link to the thread on tripadvisor.co.uk forum where I described my experience with them and also a link to their Google opinions page with my latest addition. I have also said that I want my money back and I will not stop describing my experience with Tony’s Rent a Car from Malaga until I get back my deposit. She got really angry saying she doesn’t know who I am and that in the internet I can write what I want and maybe it is true, maybe it is not. I replied introducing myself and saying she owes me the 500EUR deposit for two cars. I have also informed her that if I will not receive the money back I will create a website as a warning for all the people thinking about renting a car from them. Guess what… she DID reply!

Eva sent me an e-mail. Here it is:

I think it is 400 euros not 500 euros, or you dont remember that the lock was broken!!!! The 400 euros has been sended, talk to your bank, have a lovely time writing like i have said before…..

My English is far from being perfect, but as you can see hers is even worst.

Of course I did not know how much they have deducted for the door lock, because she did not reply to any of my previous e-mails. Anyway, I asked for the bank transfer confirmation, because I needed it if I was to talk with by bank. Guess what… she did not reply.

On the 11th of October I called my bank and I made an official complaint saying that a company called Tony’s Rent a Car from Malaga is stating that over a week ago they sent me 400EUR by bank transfer, but the money still did not enter my bank account.

On the 12th of October I sent another e-mail to Eva informing her my new website http://www.tonysrentacar.info/ has just been launched. There were no texts on the page at that point. Again I asked for the bank transfer confirmation. And she answered! AGAIN! I felt really lucky. Here is what she said:

Carry in it looks good, you will not here from me anymore, you will hear from my lawler, hope you know what you are doing.

Not much you can put on the webpage, yes you can….. You can say that nobody was going to give you a car at Malaga airport, and your holidays where going to be a mess, and that we gave you a car with no problems…….hope to see soon this message on your lovely webpage

Again, sorry for her English…

So they owe me 400EUR, but I should by thankful because they rented me cars. And I will hear from their lawyer. Really looking forward to this. Maybe he will give me back my 400EUR?

On the 13th of October I received an official statement from my bank. They said that they investigated my case and there was absolutely no incoming bank transfer to my bank account for the amount of 400EUR. They have also said that I should discuss this with the sender and ask him to send me a bank transfer confirmation called Swift Mt 103… When I get this document, I should contact my bank again to explain the situation further.

DO YOU REALLY WANT TO RENT A CAR FROM TONY’S RENT A CAR FROM MALAGA?!
