At alicante airport I Picked up my pre booked car from Drivalea (via zest who are very good) but had my own insurance. The car paperwork identified 17 different scratches so I took photographs. On returning the car they went over the car very thoroughly and found two scratches not identified on my paperwork but also of the 17 identified several were not actually on the car so the paperwork was compromised.
Nevertheless I was forced to pay an additional£160. I took a photograph of the main scratch discussed but unfortunately not the second.
On returning home I was able to prove by a dated photo that the main scratch was existing when I collected the car so again their system was compromised.
Drivalea have produced a photo to zest showing the second scratch but their photo does not show a time. The scratch could have occurred at anytime subsequently If I am trying to prove a scratch was there they will only accept a dated photo so why are their photos not dated?
I can prove all of the the above. What I can't prove is the attitude of the Drivalea boss, not the office staff who were polite.
He said that The situation we were in was our fault for not taking out their insurance and I should expect to get a car full of scratches. He was actually very rude.
The good Drivalea reviews I read were of clients taking out the enhanced package. If anyone has their own insurance be I would advise to make sure that The paperwork issued matches the condition of the car otherwise you will be charged for a preexisting scrarch.
