Back in april we booked a car at ecovia, to be picked up on July 8, In firenze. When we got there, the guy refused to give us the car. He was very rude to us, but also to the other customers (the cue was 1,5! because of this while in the neighbor car rental offices, everything went very smoothly). We couldn't reach anyone at the customer service and when we later emailed them, we got no answer. We also mailed to the complaints account, still without any answer, and without getting our money back! worst experience ever at a car rental!!

First they gave me an off brand car that had dual fuel options, being Metano natural gas or gasoline. No big deal until you realize the gasoline tank only holds about two gallons of gas…with a range of about 60 to 75 kilometers. There are virtually no Metano stations in ItLy, se we were forced to stop every 45 minutes to refill the small gasoline tank. Then they found hidden damage (light scratches) under the front bumper that I did not cause. They then charged (1) for the estimated cost of repair, (2) loss of use during the repair period, and (3) an administrative fee. This car had damage all over which was I repaired…so they never repair damage, just charge you for loss of use and keep on renting. In retrospect I have read lots of reviews (wish I had done that first) and it is amazing how many renters tell the same story…damage located on the underside of a bumper! Do yourself a favor and use any company other than Autovia/Ecovia!!!!

WARNING DO NOT USE. Used pre existing damage ( tiny paint chips underneath the front bumper only visible if led on the ground in front of the car ) to make a claim. Badly treated throughout all my dealings with them, even serving other people in between dealing with me behind me in the que. Being cheap is a false economy as they will use deceitful ways to make you pay more and bump up the price. Use a bigger, reputable company and save yourself the time money and aggravation.

I rented a car in Sicily. At place I was forced to pay additional 300 Euro (additional indurance). I was not able to cancel order in EconomyBookings and get my money back. They refused to figure out problem and stopped responding. The reason they gave for additional 300E insurance was that I had debit not credit card - but the gladly took the payment from debit. I am not the only one this is almost a procedure - I had not this problem earlier....

They charged me 120 euro for an invisible scratch they claimed I did;it was useless to try to speak with their management. Clearly employees have bonuses on the scooby doo damages they charge on their clients

Fantastic service from the moment we entered the building. The person I dealt with was very polity, provided all the information we needed and suggested an upgrade based on our requirements that we kindly accepted. On returning the car he was there, he recognised us and looked after us as well as on the arrival, we could not have been more pleased with the car and the service we received and I will be certainly renting again with him.

Hired 2 cars for the family. Picked the cars up from Palermo at night, no light to inspect for existing damage. Got charged for damage to wing mirrors and wheels which we didn’t do. Spoiled our holiday and put us off returning to Sicily.

Warning – Warning – Warning !!!!!!! Do No Rent A Car from Those People !!!!!! I rented a car through ARGUS Rental CAR . They directed me to ECO VIA an Italian rental car company. I have rented a car that after 3 hours of driving had a mechanical warning, I immediately called the rental office for assistance with no response. I Continued calling the company day after day (the car was parked the whole time, ski vacation). After FIVE (5) !!! days, I received a visit from road service. They took the car to a garage. NO replacement car!!!!! I was told to pay the garage (they said it will be the quickest way) and they talked to the mechanics, instructed them on receipt issue , so they can reimburse me as promised. After I returned the car , fixed and payed for, they refused to reimburse me, claiming I was the one who caused the problem and they never told me to pay for the garage. ECO VIA and AUTO VIA , the worst rental car possible. ARGUS has deserted me with those people and besides moving emails from side to side have done nothing to assist. Do Not Work with either ARGUS , ECOVIA or AUTOVIA!!!!!

I rented a car through ARGUS Rental CAR . They directed me to ECO VIA an Italian rental car company.

Received car with 13 listed damages/ scratches on the rental agreement and was told to sign a digital pad 8 times without being able to see any paperwork. Was told that it was to confirm the if keys are lost there is a charge, and we have to let them know if we take the car out of the country; "sign it to get the car". Had to get the rental agent out to write down 3 more noticable damages not on the list and were told that a few 2-3mm scratches were "ok and covered by the list". When we returned the car, they said that the tiny scratches we asked about when renting the car were caused by us and we would be charged. I've call and e-mailed both autovia and cardelmar complaining and was told I can't prove it and would be charged and had to fill out an insurance claim form with cardelmar once charged. They used one of the digital signatures when I hired the car on the rental agreement to put that I signed to accept that I agreed with the damages when returning the car, and I didn't sign anything when I returned the car. Do not use autovia or ecovia.

Alla riconsegna dell'auto si sono inventati che un graffio di circa 1 cm sul cerchio fosse stato causato da me. Purtroppo pur non ammettendo la responsabilità del danno hanno arbitrariamente prelevato 202 euro dalla carta di credito messa come cauzione. Quando ho capito di essere stato messo spalle al muro ho chiesto che mi venisse consegnato il cerchio danneggiato, almeno per limitare il loro guadagno, ma furbescamente hanno dichiarato di non aver sostituito il cerchio ma di averlo riparato spendendo 202 euro (molto maggiore del costo di un cerchio nuovo). Io ero assicurato e ho riavuto tutti i soldi dall'assicurazione ma vi sconsiglio vivamente di fare affari da questi ladri!

Alla riconsegna a Fiumicino - in orario, veicolo pulito dentro e fuori senza una cartaccia in giro - l’operatrice passa al pettine l’intera superficie della scocca per poi contestarmi un graffietto di un cm sullo specchietto. Nego in buona fede di essere stato io a provocarlo ma capisco che l’operatrice che già si era accanita sul precedente cliente era a caccia di bonus e pertanto mi ritrovo davanti il foglio di contestazione che respingo formalmente riempiendo il relativo formulario. Alcuni giorni dopo mi viene richiesto il pagamento di 120 e rotti euro per tale ridicola inezia al che rispondo secondo il loro protocollo proponendo di conciliare versando la metà per chiuderla lì e rimanere in buoni rapporti. Ignorano la mail e alcuni giorni dopo emettono unilateralmente fattura per l’intero importo senza aver mai instaurato un contraddittorio. Li diffido per iscritto dall’addebitarmi la cifra sulla carta, ma anche stavolta mi ignorano e provvedono ad addebitarmi i 120 euro. Chargeback su Amex immediato ovviamente e una customer experience sconcertante, deprimente e persino offensiva alla luce dell’operato complessivo di questi turisti del principio di correttezza e buona fede. I hired a car from Ecovia Car Rental, in Marco Polo Airport, in Venice, for only 3 days in January. They didn't concern to check the car when I picked it up neither to check it out when I returned it . Now, the Ecovia car rental is charging me 312 euros for a damage that I didn't cause neither recognize it. I asked them to show me up or present any inspection data that prove I caused the damage the car. Although my request, they didn't prove my responsibility and they charged it anyway. It was an abuse.

Car hire from Verona airport Ecovia / Autovia The service desk was on site but the car took 30 minutes to be delivered from off site after the paperwork was completed. I booked a standard estate, however I was provided with a dual fuel car (petrol and gas)as the only option "equivalent" to my pre booked class. Supplier agreed to the early return (5:30 am) and provided information of a nearby fuel supplier to use for refueling before returning the car. Fuel supplier I was directed to only worked normal day hours so no refueling was possible. Hire company charged premium rates for refueling the car ~2 and 3 times normal fuel prices and then added penalty charges of 25 and 30 euros. Yes they charged excessive rates for both fuels and penalties for topping up both. The put the charge on my credit card within 2 days but they never sent any documentation to justify these charges. It took a couple of weeks with the help of my booking agent to extract the basis for their charges.

We had a similar experience. Contact your bank, explain what happened and ask them for a chargeback. They can help you recover your money from Ecovia.
