I ended up with Interrent inadvertently on a trip through Faro having booked through Auto Europe which in the past I have found to be very good but ended up with this shower. No one waiting at the airport to meet us for the off site pick up and eventually found the driver after asking around. Needless to say no one was at the designated spot. When we got to the pick up place there wasnt a long queue but there was a wait for at least an hour. Their signs telling everyone how good their service was providing something to smile at. The policy here is the blatant rip off full tank of petrol (charged at extortionate rates)but return empty. Clearly this is designed to rip customers off to the max. Simple logic will tell you its not possible without pushing the car or loading into another vehicle to return the tank empty. The next rip off is around the charge for the tag to use the Portuguese motorways with their chronic retrospective charging system which doesnt run in real time but 48 hours later. Some weeks after I received a charge without any substantiating information which I have subsequently refused to pay unless they back up the charge with full details (my credit card company confirmed that is a requirement of firms charging). They could be charging me anything they wanted otherwise. These little scams that the rental companies seem to like to play may work once but they are causing long term damage to their industry. I certainly will not touch this company again and am mindful of many of the other comments posted on other companies who promise a lot and deliver a very bad experience.

I made a booking for Heathrow for 3rd November for 1 month rental. Paid up fornt with credit card. I actually had to arrive a day earlier as plans changed so I called Interrent but their office was closed and I had to call the when I arrived the following morning, 2nd Nov. When I arrived in UK on 2nd I called the office and was told that I could pick up the car no problem. So far looking good. When I went to collect the car I offered the credit card, driving license and proof of address as requested. The agent the proceded to complete an online security check which came up fialed. I guess this is because I have only lived at the said address for 10 weeks. At this point the agent said I couldn't have the car and I had to make other arrangements, this time with Hertz, a proper company. I contacted Interrent customer services who take a minimum of 10 days to answer any query. Today the emailed me back to let me know that the security check fail was regarded by them as a cancellation and I would not be getting a refund on my purchase. So, one month rental cost down the tubes because I "failed" a security check that may or may not have been operator error as I never got to see what the agent was doing. Do yourself a favour and keep away from this bunch and go elsewhere. anywhere for your next car rental

Attention, when renting in Spain, the fuel policy is full-empty! I had the choice to pay 140 euros and bring the car empty, or pay 40 euros to fill it myself. I choose to pay for filling it myself (first time in my life I pay to do the job myself). The fuelling of the tanl did cost me 48 euros, so I still saved 52 euros! Th real bad part was that I've been charged afterwards 17.50 euros for an aditional rental day. They stated that I brought my car at 2.38pm instead of 1pm, as stated on my rental agreement. Too bad, I brought the car back at 12,15pm, with a flight taking off at 2pm. I had to dispute the incorrect charge over my credit card company. What a waste of time! I think they overcharge nearly every customer for things like gas, extra rentals day, hoping that you won't dispute the charges afterwards. Avoid this company at all costs!

I Hired a car from Interrent at Edinburgh Airport. I had it for about 5hrs and because I was considering buying that model I never had it out of my sight. When I returned it, there was no staff on. 6 days later (ie after they have had time to 'dispose' of any evidence) they claimed it had a flat tyre. This was totally untrue. they charged me £63.94 for a flat tyre. The moral? NEVER, EVER use Interrent

Main info: Barcelona El Prat airport, 3 days rent, booked online through interrent website. Everything was planned to be perfect!! What happened then? When the airplane landed, I went to the InterRent office! There, a very very unpleasent man was working behind the desk (10/10/2014, 22:30h). First problem: I gave him my Mastercard credit card and, without even starting any payment, he started to say that my card was a debid card!!! Amazing!! I had to say "IS A CREDIT CARD" like 10 times! Second problem: He presented me the available fuel solutions (and I had already decided that during the booking process). I said I've booked the "rent with full tank - deliver with full tank" and he said "OK, so, you need to pay 40€ more for the service and then we also need to block the amount of fuel tank in your credit card". I said that in the website terms & conditions they don't talk about those 40€ and that I will not pay for that! He didn't want to listen to what I was saying so, I took the train and left the car... I've rented a car several times but not with them!! I've never seen nothing like this!! What a bad person and company to work with! If you care about your money, find another company!

Despite being told on the booking form that the desk would be open from 8am when we arrived there was a notice stating it didn't open until 10 and to report to the Europcar desk. When we got there we were told there would be a €35 surcharge. So I waited until 10 but sadly the girl behind the desk didn't arrive until 10 past. Then we were offered a station wagon when we had ordered a compact wagon. When we went to check this vehicle was too large for our requirements so we asked for what we had ordered. We were told that they had no cars available so ended up with the equivalent of a Fiat Panda. When I asked for the name of the lady behind the desk she refused and insisted that the service she had offered was exceptional. I'm not sure many would agree with her. Needless to say I won't be using Interrent again as I prefer to get what I paid for.

Their web site states: We are transparent : no sneaky prices, the price you see is the price you pay ! We are friendly : we’ll always be happy to see you ! We are generous : you‘ll always get a great price from us. We are incredibly easy to use: hiring a car has never been so simpler ! I can't of anything further from the truth. Hired via HOLIDAY AUTOS - collected in Lisbon-Portugal. So...sneaky prices appeared and not friendly, quite rude and obnoxious..it was apparent everyone collecting and returning cars had the same look on their face...why did we use this company! Do not use.

We had the worst Holiday experience ever with the car rental Company INTERRENT in Lissabon Portugal. We booked a Ford Focus Estate (stationcar) 3 months in advance. When we came to pick it up, there was a 3 hour line in front of us with unsatisfied customers complaining. When finally was our turn, we for sure also became unsatisfied when we where told to downgrade to a smaller car without any kind of pricereduction. They tried to fit us in a VW Golf but the luggage couldnt fit into the smaller car. After at hard discussion for 1 hour they gave us a very old and used Skoda Fabia. This car only worked for 214 kilometres where the engine broke down on the motorway on our way to Algarve. We got a new car in Faro, and after 9 hours we finally got to our destination in Lagos, normally only 3 hours of driving. The new was a Clio staioncar, and not a Megane as we paid for, still no pricereduction. Finally when we returned the car after end af the Holiday, INTERRENT insisted on charging us for the full tank af gas in the car that broke down. The emplyees at the office where polite but did not have the possibilty to help much due to Company policies. NEVER use INTERRENT NEVER use INTERRENT NEVER use INETRRENT

Thought it was good value when we booked a car for Lisbon. Took 2 hours to collect, an extra £190 for refilling the tank at end, tolls and additional insurance. We only had the car for 5 days!! Drop of details were also wrong. Will never ever use this company again, they are a rip off with terrible customer service? AVOID

Well, contrary to other reviewers here, my experience at Heathrow was terrific. I phoned from the baggage area and by the time I arrived at the bus stop, the courtesy bus had arrived. A quite short trip to the office and my car was waiting. The staff were obviously busy but quick and whilst insurance and an offer of upgrading was mentioned, there was no hard sell. I paid exactly as I had booked. The return was equally easy.

I booked a car from Liverpool airport, and in an email from Interrent was promised a Peugot 107. When I arrived, I was offered a scruffy Fiat 500, which was far too small, so I had no choice but to ask for an upgrade. I was told there are in fact no Peugot 107s at Liverpool, and the only car available was a Peugot 308, for which I had to pay an extra 10 pounds per day, so it cost me far more than I expected. The desk was understaffed (one guy serving four companies), and I had to stand in long queues twice to sort out the mess. It took me almost 2 hours to get out of the airport. I have never experienced such inefficient service anywhere in the world. Dreadful. Later I wrote to the company to complain, but received no response. Steer clear of this company. You have been warned!

Everything about them suggest they are methodically trainer to RIP PEOPLE OFF! They refused to rent me a car because their identity checking system (?!) couldn't identify me even though I have a clean UK LICENCE FOR EIGHT YEARS and had both photo and paper counterpart. They then have avoided any contact in trying to claim my money back. I stood for two hours with them and saw them pull their scams with other customers too. Scratches that have been previously identified and they charge exorbitant "repair" fees then don't fix them etc. the web price is cheap, and they make their money by ripping off customers after they bring their cars back, or in my case, by not even giving me the car!!! They should be shut down.

This Christmas I used InterRent Car hire at Heathrow for the first time (booked through ebookers as it was a lot cheaper than the competition) - NEVER again! Before continuing I want to point out that I am not a careless driver. I live abroad and book cars twice a year when I return to England and have never had any problems in the past 6 years with any other company. When I picked up the car they asked whether I wanted the optional insurance for £6 a day - I said no because the cost of that over the 17 day hire period would have been half the price of the car hire again. So, I went to visit my family in Cornwall, checked the car every day, all was fine. During this time there was exceptionally bad weather in the UK and a lot of the area was flooded. At some point during the drive back to Heathrow I must have driven through some flood water and when I returned the car there was a light scratch about 10cm long on the bottom of the front bumper. It was evidently there and obviously I was prepared that I would have to pay for it despite the fact that it was so light it would either be left or polished out. I have contacted Halfords since to see what they would charge: £165 (they are probably the most expensive quote you are going to get.) InterRent's price £450! Nearly double the price of 3 week's car hire. Equally impressive is there customer service; I emailed the customer service address given to me by the staff at Heathrow and they replied requesting more information. I gave them the information and heard no reply. Sent another email last week and still no reply - I'm still waiting... Moral of the story: the price looked too good to be true - it was!
