My family had an awful experience with goldcar , we arrived in at night to Nice and hoped for a simple collecting of prearranged cars at the airport but instead we were met by aggressive , unfriendly staff members . Not only did they disapprove that we had bought insurance from an outside company but were almost threatening in their manner about the potential cost of 1000 euros that could be taken straight from my fathers account . The staff were unhelpful and rude . My tired father was so intimidated by them that he payed for a second set of insurance for €180 . Then when my brother went up to inspect his car In the dark in the poorly lit car park they was a massive scratch that had not been previously identified . On my Dads car there were 27 scratches which we couldn’t see all or count them all due to the poor lighting which he was told that if he did not buy insurance and the staff found more scratches he would have to be the 1000 immediately . My brother after returning his car found that Goldcar had taken a further £800 from his account because the office had not logged the scratches found when he collected it , fortunately my brother had the copy of the initial form and had taken photos and after multiple phone calls and hassle they eventually returned the money. I have never come across such appalling customer service . Needless to say none of my family will ever use Goldcar again .
