We hired a car via ryan air website, paid the deposit online arrived at the airport to collect the car was told that they had given the car to someone else who had a similar name, the only similarity is that we had the same 1st name, they called the person they gave the car I hired to and asked him to return the car and he refused saying they made the mistake therefore he would not return the vehicle, so gold star said we will issue with another car once we went through the insurance hard sell we explained we had our own insurance policy by a separate company they tried to strong arm me into taking their insurance I stuck to my guns and explained my own was sufficient they charged my credit card£1100 just in case of damage which I accepted knowing full well that if there was an accident I would need to claim this back, the person behind the desk them reliased the he had made a mistake with car size and was about to give me a smaller car and had to cancel the whole process and start again, finally after an hour I signed everything and he then charged my card again he gave me a damage report for the car i was accepting and there where crosses marked all over the car possibly 10 I went to inspect the car to cross check the damage there was more damage that that Had been documented, I marked the crosses where the new damage was and went back to the kiosk to notify the person behind the counter, I explained there was so much extra damage on the car that if I accepted it I would have a claim as soon as I drove it out the garage he tired to update the damage but I refused the car and cancelled the transaction as I felt that there was too much underhanded activity and also the customer service was appalling as the attendant didn’t seem to care about the whole situation, we asked about our online deposit if we could get it refunded, he told us that we need to take it up with ryan air, we asked for confirmation of the whole problem he told us to show ryan air our cancellation of charges to the card they wanted to use for insurance, I would have gave gold star no stars but the reviews would not let me do that, do not use this company they are acting unscrupulously and also cheating customers for insurance claims also the customer service was non existent and I was made to feel like the whole problem was down to me, I will be taking this up with ryan air and gold star as well
