“Vospers poor customer service”

★☆☆☆☆

written by GoodwinElectrical on 20/07/2017

Purchased a Ford Connect van from Vospers this year. The customer care has been appalling. Goodwin Electrical will never purchase vans from Vospers again. After researching Ford dealers in the South West, Vospers seems to have the area covered. Looks like another company has become too big, seems you have little other options to purchase a Ford van from another dealer so why bother looking after your customer. This is the attitude of Vospers.

“Stay completely away from Vospers!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by ladyjmw on 29/06/2017

I purchased a brand new ford kuga costing close to £30,000.00 in April 2016 from Vospers Marsh Barton Exeter. It was handed over to to me in a dimly lit inside holding bay so I could not see the dent in the A-frame!! I later discovered that the sunroof did not work correctly and the dash trim had not been fitted correctly. My mistake was to accept the vehicle and take it home as Vospers would not accept responsibility for the damage!! My ford kuga 12 months later still has the dent and the badly fitted dash trim!! However the sunroof is now working correctly!! Thanks to another ford dealership!! I will never purchase another vehicle from the Vospers dealership as they only want to take your hard earned money and then treat you with contempt if you have a problem!! Stay well away from Vospers!!

“DO NOT BUY A USED VEHICLE HERE!!!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by MichelleHorlock on 16/05/2017

In September 2016 my son bought a used car at Vospers Plymouth, a company that prides itself on customer service and commitment to doing the right thing. DO NOT BE FOOLED - This could not be further from the truth!!! Three days after his six month warranty expired, the ECU - on board computer - on the car failed. The car was towed to Vospers but they refused to do anything to help him. They also said that they would have to take it to the local Vauxhall dealer to get it fixed. This seems absolutely ridiculous for a company of this size to have to do this. As I knew that this would be likely to cost a fortune I arranged for it to be taken to our local garage. Despite their best efforts, the problem is a recurring one and the ECU will have to be replaced. The cost of this is going to be very high and we are going to have to help my son, who is only on an apprentice wage, to pay for it. Furthermore, despite being assured by the salesman that the car would be serviced and MOT'd before collection, I have today found out from the DVLA website that the MOT expires in June. So this was clearly a sales sham. I understand that there is always a risk when purchasing a new car and this is why we took the decision to go to a "reputable" dealer like Vospers. What a mistake - we would have been better going to the local garage who is much more trustworthy and would go out of their way to help us. I am aware that you take a chance when purchasing a used car but Vosper's advertise how reliable their used stock is. Obviously not! Once they have sold you the car, they do not want to know. However, they will bombard you with information about how fantastic their servicing facility is. We certainly WILL NOT be using this.

“Servicing facility at plymouth”

★☆☆☆☆

written by BronsonEaton198 on 28/03/2017

The setup suggests a group car dealer servicing many different makers. As you walk into the service centre you see a line of desks which you cannot go to without going through a front desk receptionist. The makers name above the heads bears no relevance to the person beneath it. On entering there was no receptionist, something which happened very often during my time in the dealership which leave people wandering around aimlessly. Eventually she turned up and asked name and maker of car, advised to have a seat, despite all but one of the staff available. After 20 minutes of nothing happening I approach to find out why the wait to be told, oh you can just leave the key if you want! Why this didn't happen 20 minutes earlier wasn't clear! Having to fill out a form despite them having all my details delayed the process further but eventually I escaped. I was promised it would be ready by 2 as I had to collect children, but surprise surprise it wasn't ready. Rubbishy service, strange setup which does not work. A so called family business, but my one and only visit, I will not be ever going there again.

I feel your pain, I was quoted x amount for a set amount of work. I got 3 quotes for the same jobs, theirs wasn't the cheapest but I thought Ford garage Ford parts and experience. Get the car back not only had they not done all the work they'd damaged the part they didn't change. I have been trying to get any meaningful communication out of them for nearly 2 weeks now. Nada, nothing, zilch.

AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE!!

“Expensive and Appalling customer service!!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by noDavidson303 on 17/03/2017

Have been using this garage for years and years - was originally Blackers. Took my Peugeot car into Vospers Torquay for a service and MOT. Reception did not have me booked in - despite actually going in person to book the car in. The driver who was suppose to be taking me home was in out and they did not know when he would be back. I originally told them I had a train to catch and could not wait too long. He eventually arrived and took me home. Reception staff were very unhelpful - 'could not care attitude'. Then told the next day that the car had passed its MOT/Service but needed to investigate a fault. Cost £100.80 per hour!!! Fault found with a total bill of just under £500!!! Called to pay, had to call back the next day as the lady who booked the car was not in and other service staff were not able to take payment. Paid the following day, car returned with dirty paper in footwell. A complete joke! I do not mind paying for a good job done, but the attitude of service staff was appalling. Mr Vosper needs to take note as in my mind 'good customer service' is key. Vospers try visiting Honda, Paignton to learn about their excellent customer service!!! March 2017

“Efficient and friendly”

written by twohootsinbishop on 01/03/2017

Just bought a new vehicle from Vospers Mazda at Honiton Road in Exeter. I was most impressed with the sales lady, who was efficient, friendly, courteous and most helpful. In addition the financial dealings were conducted in a thoroughly professional way by the appropriate gentleman without being too heavy. Both of these members of staff should be highly commended. I cannot comment on the service department yet as I have clearly only just taken delivery of the vehicle.

Had a agreement for a clio 220 trophy advertised price £17.900 sorted finance. Received finance agreement to see that the car price had jumped upto £18.900. Reason given the car was to cheap at £17.900. Also car was listed as having 196 miles after they had put the finance through then they told me the mileage was more a 1000 miles. Was gutted to say the least but I guess when salesman are more concerned about commission than a happy customer who was willing to do the 640 mile round trip. The person who spoke to me about my concerns over the price going up (he told me he was the head of used car sales) had a trouble attitude and was no help what so ever. Word of advice avoid this company like the plague

“First Service Nightmare ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Joselyn287 on 15/01/2017

"Sorry Sir we haven't got the right oil so we couldnt finish the job"! One day wasted. A week or so later... "Sorry Sir we don't have the correct oil filter"! Another morning wasted. Blew my top and the job was completed that afternoon. At least I thought so. The engine management warning light had still not been investigated. Complained politely again and made arrangements for the identified faulty oil pressure sensor to be replaced. Two months after I first visited this still hasn't been done. Vospers Plymouth cancelled the last appointment, they had ordered the wrong part! They don't seem to care. My courteous phone calls to find out what's happening are allegedly logged but no one ever calls back. Undoubtedly the worst garage service I have experienced in 40 years of motoring.

“Awful customer care”

written by Fitzgeraldwt75 on 02/11/2016

I went into vosper's looking for a new car and asked a sales person for some information about a new car he said he would get the keys as he didn't know when he went I heard him speaking to one of his colleagues saying I am just going to show these motab scroats a car yet another time waster! When I confronted him he just shrugged his shoulders and walked off. Obviously I did not purchase a car from here I went to another garage down the road and bought a car. Well vosper's a bit of training for your staff would not go a miss I thought one of the first rules in sales was do not judge a book by its cover.

“Terrible Customer Service”

written by 118Munoz on 23/10/2016

This is the second time I have gone there to purchase a car, the attitude of staff was abysmal, sending us from one area to another then back again - amazed anyone would buy a car from them, must feel like they have a captive audience in Plymouth. Hardly any staff there and a really poor attitude...

“Recently at Marsh Mills Plymouth when the oil warning...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 123Oliver on 22/10/2016

Recently at Marsh Mills Plymouth when the oil warning light came on plus warning message to top up oil. I went into Vospers thinking that a mechanic could help me. I was told I would have to book my Peugeot in. No one could top up the oil nor check if it was safe to drive home. As a 70+ lady I was not impressed with the total lack of care. I now count myself a former Vosper's customer as I have no intention of buying a car from them nor using their servicing in the future. By contrast my local garage have been most helpful.

“Don't trust em”

written by Fredthefridge on 07/10/2016

We received a recall letter from fords re the glow plug module ,our nearest dealer was vospers Plymouth ,I eventually got through to the service dept and booked in the vehicle( Ford Fiesta) ,the day the car was booked in by a very surly rude man ,we'll call you when it's ready ,an hour past the phone rang a polite young girl said your job has been done but we advise you not to drive it as there's water POURING out of it ,I promptly got back to the service dept where another member of staff was very bad mannerd saying you can't take the car away you'll have to get a taxi home and I'll book it in for the work to be done At this stage smelling a rat I asked to see the mechanic who found this problem and for him to show me where the leak was Bearing in mind they had driven it out into the car park after this event, up went the bonnet and he explained the leak was on the thermostat housing and there was no fluid in the header tank,I looked at the header tank yes it was below the minimum mark but not empty ,he said he knew about the leak because of stains underneath ,when I asked him about the water pouring out he just replied if it was my car I wouldn't drive it , I asked him for the key and told him I would take my chance, this was followed by a comment from the woman from the reception "don't you just hate people who won't take advice The car was driven to the supermarket down the road where we topped up the water and drove directly to our own local garage Torpoint Mot ,the mechanic checked it over and told us there was a very small leak on the thermostat housing but to keep an eye on the fluid level,in four days the fluid level hadn't moved and the job was carried out by Torpoint garage Vospers actually phoned us asking if we were happy with the service we received, within 20 min the service manager called us I told him the full story He couldn't apologise enough and would speak to those involved I wouldn't return to vospers ,this is highlighting what underhand dealings goes on at main dealers, and some proper staff training wouldn't go a miss

“Pitiful Customer Service”

★☆☆☆☆

written by DaisyRoss466 on 22/09/2016

I am not accustomed to writing reviews but I feel I have to in the case of Vospers, to hopefully prevent others going through the grief I have been through. Reading previous reviews it appears many of the problems raised are Company- wide and, unfortunately, apply to several branches. In this case I am talking about the Truro Transit Van Centre. Mine was a bodywork repair arranged through my insurance company so I presumed all would be well and I did not research the Company beforehand as I usually do – big mistake. I had the accident in April and the job has finally been finished in September after initially being told it would take 5 days. Without going into needless detail the problems were that, although the facilities were very impressive and the staff seemed pleasant enough, there was just no follow through at any stage; promises were made but not met. Zero for communication skills I’m afraid. My gut feeling was that they were taking on too much work and were unable to cope with it. Right from the initial booking in I had to chase them, which is easier said than done as they don’t actually answer the phone. The vehicle was eventually booked in for 5 days in early June but took 2 weeks and only after I chased them several times. Then the real problem was that the couple of follow on “snagging” jobs took several months of aggravation to complete. I am normally extremely patient but was forced to get my insurance company involved in July to try to bring the matter to a close. They assured me that, as soon as they became involved, companies usually got things moving quickly. How wrong was that? It seemed to make no difference – they also couldn’t get through by phone a lot of the time and, when they did, got the same run around. It got to the stage in early September when the insurance company agreed to pull the van from Vospers if the repair was not completed by the end of the week. This did the trick and the jobs were finally completed. Yes, as has been said before, the worst customer service I have ever experienced and I’m the wrong side of 60…. I am being offered compensation from my insurance company and Vosper’s pitiful performance has been noted by them. Please, look for an alternative if your insurance company suggests Vospers for your insurance repair.

Vospers accident repair Dept Truro Having totally the same problem in November 2016. I didn't want the car taken there in the first place it was Mazda who arranged it really against my better judgement. The Maintenance Department in Truro is the same. Book ed a vehicle in for re -call. Went on the due date they had no knowledge of my bookings. Then told they would have to order the part which would take 3 weeks. Phoned Fiat direct in Italy and they then arranged everything. Part flown over in two days. I would never contemplate taking my car in for a service there. Will also give a one star rating but feel even that is too generous.

“No More lifts into town”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Amayam445 on 03/09/2016

Yet again a bad experience! Apparently they have stopped the courtesy lift in to town. I was not there for an MOT or service at my request I was called for a recall for airbags. As with most people my time is very precious and had no intention of sitting there for 2 hours as suggested whilst the recall was done. When i originally booked it in I was offered a lift to town and as this had to be rescheduled I assumed this would still be the case. On my day off and after a 45 min drive in and trying to combine the recall with going into town to do jobs to be told 'not available any more' just adds to my bad experiences of the offices. When I originally bought the car it was a pleasant experience and the staff were helpful then and after. Since moving to Vospers the only nice thing is the gentleman that meets you at the car park. Once over the thresh hold it all rapidly goes down hill. From the annoying lady who wants your name and tells you to take a seat in the waiting area when the Nissan desk is empty to now being told there was no lift available. I have always been dropped into town whilst the car has been in the workshop. Why stop this valuable service for busy people. I know i could have paid for my own taxi but why should i when if wasn't my fault i had to be there, Nissan ordered the recall. They would be better off getting rid of the annoying woman on the front desk and re-employing the little mini bus and driver. I would not buy my next car from there and would go to a small more personal garage and having heard an irate customer shout to the gentleman in the car park when he inquired if her car was sorted 'No its not!!' and then directed to me 'Don't ever buy a car from here' kind of adds to my concerns. This is not my first or second time i have had problems at Plymouth but couldn't be bothered to complain before. What a shame they don't think about the customer more.

Rang to buy front suspension coil spring for a friends Grande Punto 1.9 Sporting and the lady I spoke to refused to tell me the price unless I could tell her the registration number. As i did not know the number she was most unhelpful, but after much talking she did agree to ring me back. She never did.!! I have never dealt with Vospers before, and I was thinking about buying the new model Fiat 124. With this level of service I will not be buying any car from them.

“The worst customer service I have ever encountered!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Dominguez181 on 08/08/2016

I took my Alfa Romeo to Vospers in Exeter for some minor repairs because I thought they would be the experts and act professionally. They couldn't fix the fault on the first visit and it took several return trips at 50 miles a time before they decided to just replace everything at vast expense for a minor fault. The final straw was when I got the car to them at 08:20 and they said it would be ready in a couple of hours. When I got back to the garage at 09:45 after having a walk round Marsh Barton they hadn't even started on it! It got missed off the list apparently! To sum up I would give them zero stars if I could and I am never taking my car back there again!

“dealership service disappointment ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by ykMead205 on 19/07/2016

Took car in for a update to vehicle's electronic control unit/Diagnostic's. Failed to find issue and gave a vague report. Told no update, which was the main point of having the car inspected, within 5-10 minutes they should of known this. Car spent 35 minutes in workshop and appeared to have 10-20 minutes of diagnostic/ECU work then spent the rest of time doing a "health check" (measurering tyre tread depth and other none diagnostic work.) Seems a lack of manufacture training on complex new electronic management systems. Charged a full hours work to be told that there "could be an issue" (which was the point of taking it there) Very expensive experience for no resolve of issue. Independent garages will be the way forward from here, they seem to care more about there reputation and seem to have a more indepth understanding of new vehicles.
