bought a ford kuga 2014 last week and it was listed incorrect milage just to waste my time coming over 1000 miles over, didn't have proper service history, no log book etc, had fault with cigarette lighter port and dab radio is really bad. when I rang to arrange a convenient repair I just got excuses and reasons why it must be anything else apart from the car even though I brought a brand new dash cam to try on it and tried several other devices, the auto electrician was baffled by it. once I then rang for refund which i'm entitled to within first month, the guy got aggressive and unhelpful with me and told me to take it to court

I dread buying cars !!!!! However a trip to this garage changed my mind. We dealt with a friendly professional knowledgeable car dealer. He sorted out every aspect of the daunting paperwork issue, A very good demonstration of the vehicle we bought. Every member of staff we met were very pleasant and helpful. All in all a marvellous buying experience.

Travelled from burton on trent to this garage today. Had spoken to a very friendly bloke. Who said that thay could offer me a good deal on My Peugeot 308. On arrival was greeted by him who allowed myself and partner to test drive the car we was intrested in. While we did that a different guy went out in my car. When he arrived back I ask what he thought. His whole attitude was disgusting. He tryed to tell me that I or someone eles had done a paint job on my car which by the way my car has never had a paint job. Then to make matters worse he also tryed telling me that because my car had a low mileage of about 39000 for a 58 plate the mileage had been tampered with. I Brough my Peugeot In 2011 it was a ex mobility car and has only been used for local journeys.he was trying to constantly pick fault with the car to which I disagreed with him on asking me what he would offer me his response was £1000. I told him no way. We left and then took my car else where. After Inspection from a different car company we was offered a more reasonable offer. We told the other Company what we had just been told. And thay said it was a joke as you could clearly see that the car had not had a respray nor had the mileage been tampered with all the other little mark on the body work was to be expected for the year of the car. Would not recommend this garage to anyone else

Recommend to anyone looking for a decent good value car. Staff were all helpful with no pressure to buy. Even washed and valeted my own car whilst on test drive. Will look to use again in a couple of years when looking for the next car.

I bought a VW Polo earlier this year from Johnson Cars. They were really friendly and I didn't feel any pressure from them when looking at cars, even when I was viewing a car from another dealer, there was no pressure from them to persuade me into buying their car. Shortly after buying the car, a problem cropped up. I told them about it, and without hesitation they offered to pay for it to be looked at a a garage near myself - accommodating for the fact that I live in Manchester. When the problem couldn't be sorted by my local garage, they asked me to bring the car back for them to look at. They provided me with a courtesy car without me even suggesting or expecting it. They didn't mind me having the courtesy car for longer than they needed my car, so I could bring it back at a time that it suited me. They sorted my car and even topped up the petrol they'd used to test drive it! The staff were always polite, helpful and friendly whenever I dealt with them. They seem like genuine guys and I'd recommend them to anyone. Well worth the trip over the Pennines!

My dad has had a few cars from here over the years and they had a car I liked the look of. Went to see them and they are friendly and approachable. The car was as described and I was able to barter with them. I had an issue with the vehicle a week later and they took my car in and sorted it straight out for me without question. Definitely use again and recommend to friend's.

I was sold a car that first broke down immediately after taking it home. Then 6 weeks later completely packed in due to a pre-existing problem (diagnosed by my independent mechanic) but Johnsons refused to cover the repairs as it was now outside the one-month warranty, and were extremely rude and dismissive when I tried to contact them to discuss the problem. Completely unprofessional. I trusted them to sell me a car of reasonable quality which they failed to do, leaving me well out of pocket, inconvenienced, and with a complete dud that had to be towed and scrapped. Overall a terrible experience and I would think twice before buying a used car from these people. Extremely disappointed.

I don't normally write reviews but I felt compelled to do so after the truly great service and quality used car I have recently purchased at a very competitive price. The sales guy I dealt with was honest and I felt under no pressure and was left to have a good look over the car without any hassle although he was on hand to answer my queries. I've had the car a couple of weeks now and couldn't be happier and everyone I discuss it with tells me they think i,i've got a great deal. All in all a great experience which is why I've written a review as that doesn't seem to happen very often these days!! I would recommend this business to anyone with confidence.

I got a car from here, cant fault the service. 5*. Only issue I had is when I got home and strapped my children in one of the rear seat belt holders (don't know the name of this equiptment)Was Not at its best. If id seen at the time I know they would've sorted it, as they sorted all the other things id seen. Not going with my children I didn't see this, Again not their fault but mine for not being on the ball and checking everything. I felt at ease and relaxed when I went for my car. I love the car, like I said only regret is I didn't check everything. Id looked at many places before this and wasn't satisfied. Like I said I love my Peugeot and the condition of it when I got it was top class.

When I arrived at johnsons cars the first thing I realised was the showroom condition of every single car? I bought a 53 plate punto and for a older car it drove like new.I would highly recommend johnsons cars because the service was brilliant.

We went to Johnson Cars Sheffield to look at a VW Touran that they had advertised for sale. Whilst there, we took the car out for a test drive, and decided it was the car for us. The owner of the garage, asked for our keys to look over our car that we were wanting to p/x, and we was told that our car was nice and tidy, and they would offer us £2500 for our car. We left a £200 deposit, and agreed to return 2 days later to do the exchange. On the exchange day, all was well, the mechanic at Johnson's took my car for a short drive and said that my car was all ok. I paid the balance due, exchanged all paperwork for the cars, and took it home, only to realize that once I had arrived home, I had left my bank card at the garage, my daughter phoned up to tell them I was on my way back to them to collect my bank card, and they said they were sorry about the mistake. Upon arriving back at the garage, 3 men were waiting for me to inform me, that they wanted the keys back for the Touran, and that my car was "Knackered" (their words, not mine!). They told me that the oil light was on and they couldn't get it to go off, they said the turbo was no good, and the head gasket had gone. I drove my car straight to another garage that had serviced my car the week previous, for them to look it over, and was told, the reason my oil light had come on was because the engine had been steam cleaned (Johnson's had obviously done this as soon as I had drove away in the Touran), and water had got into the electrics (the oil light went off shortly after, and has not been back on since), the so called turbo that was supposedly no good, was perfectly fine, although it is louder than most, as it doesn't have a cover over it, and lastly there was nothing at all wrong with the head gasket, as there was no water leaks, and the temperature gauge was where it should be, and I was also told by this mechanic, that what Johnson's had done was totally illegal. My daughter who was by this point fuming, telephoned the Johnson's garage, to inform them that my car was not "knackered" and the only reason the oil light had come on, was because they had steam cleaned the engine, to which, their reply was that they hadn't steam cleaned the engine! She proceeded to tell them that we had taken my car straight to another garage, and that there was nothing wrong with it whatsoever, she also informed them that what they had done was illegal, and that she had already been in contact with a firm of solicitors, and that she was going to take the matter further, all the while, the owner of the garage who was on the other end of the phone, was shouting at her that they hadn't done anything to our car. Upon my daughter telling them that what they had done was illegal, the owner of Johnson's slammed the phone down on her. Johnson's then proceeded to re-advertise the Touran, even though we had the receipt, MOT certificate and Log Book, and it was also insured in our name. My wife and I went back to Johnson's to collect our deposit from them, as they had already refunded the larger amount but no deposit, and my wife was talking to another employee at Johnson's, who told her that they always steam cleaned car engines as soon as they came in, but no other car's oil light had ever come on. So the owner was telling my daughter that they hadn't steam cleaned the engine, but this other employee told my wife they did! I WOULD NEVER ATTEMPT TO BUY ANOTHER CAR FROM THIS COMPANY, IF IT WAS THE LAST CAR DEALER ON EARTH!

The customer who wrote this review has been very very conservative with the truth. These are the facts. We have been trading here for the past twenty years and the vast majority of our customers are a pleasure to deal with but we get the odd one who tries to part exchange a sub-standard broken car that needs plenty of money spending on it to put it right and in this case that was exactly the case and nothing to do with steam cleaning, the car had a noisy turbo and the oil light was on indicating low oil pressure and we have a mechanic who is fully qualified who has been in the trade for over 25 years who confirmed this was the case.I cant believe this customer has the bare faced cheek to blame all this on Johnson Cars when all he has done has lied through his front teeth about his car and the way we treated him ,his money was refunded immediately and we re-advertised the Touran and sold it straight away on the same day and we are pleased to announce that this time it went to a GOOD HOME.

I would beg to differ about who's being conservative with the truth! My so called sub-standard broken car, (which was actually a tidy little car, your words, not mine, and which was actually looked over and taken for a drive by yourselves before any exchange was made - no oil light on at that time, or no mention of any problems with my car) has actually now been looked at by two different garages, and both have said my car is in great condition, so maybe you should be looking at getting yourselves a new mechanic, who actually knows something about cars! And lets face facts, if my car was a sub-standard broken car, then why exchange it in the first place, surely any car dealer that has been trading for the past twenty years, wouldn't dream of actually doing a deal on a broken car!!!

I would suggest you read the reviews on Johnson Garage if you question our mechanics ability!!!The oil light wasn't on when we drove your car as it was warm,it only came on when the car had cooled down.HAS THE NOISY TURBO SUDDENLY MENDED ITSELF?And yes you are correct we wouldn't dream of selling your car to an unsuspecting customer as we have a good reputation to keep up that's why we test drive all the part exchanges to filter out all the sheds.

I saw the car advertised and unfortunately I was 240 miles away, However after speaking with the owners they assured me the car was right and I decided to put a deposit on the car and travel down on the train from bonnie Scotland, mark said my deposit would be returned should the car not meet his description or my expectations which is as fair as it gets. When I arrived in Sheffield the guys sent someone to pick me up and take me to the garage, he is responsible for presenting the cars and the car was indeed as described and was like new. A friendly exchange took place and after buying the car I drove it the 240 miles home, I'm really pleased with my purchase and the guys seemed to have a lot of nice cars there at really good prices, I wouldn't hesitate in going down again to buy from them, I also had a bit of banter about the football with them but they wouldn't be too happy later on as both the Sheffield teams got stuffed that day, thanks again guys and my daughter loves the car . PS not a cheesy wotsit in sight and he was disappointed I wasn't wearing a kilt, maybe he likes men in skirts lol, Stuart from Motherwell ( c'mon the well )

Very impressed with the complete level of service from my initial enquiry to final purchase of a terrific Nissan Duke. I was looking at a part exchange deal and found Johnson cars completely fair in this regard. I was offered a fair price this vehicle and I was pleased to shake hands on it! They went beyond the call of duty to ensure my purchase, was smooth and stress free. My wife and I found all aspects of their customer service brilliant and we love our new car. :) In our opinion Johnson cars Sheffield really do provide quality at very competitive prices. I would have no hesitation in recommending them.

I have just collected my Ford Kuga from Johnson cars and I am truly delighted with the friendly and efficient servce. For years we have bought from Car superstores and whilst Johnsons they can't compete on the selection they certainly challenge them on price and service. From start to finish the sales advisor has ensured that the sale and part exchange has been completed with no problems and it has been a pleasure to do business with them. Many thanks

Just purchased a VW CC, from this guy, gave a deposit over the phone to secure the car until I'd viewed and test drove- he said another potential buyer had already arranged to view and sorted out a part ex price. What then happened was the part ex car was not as described so the part ex never happened and I got my chance to secure the car with a deposit. I drove up to sheffield from the midlands, I drove the car, checked it over ,test drove etc and was happy. I said I would pay for the car and collect the following weekend. I offered my van as a part ex,he said he didn't fancy it and was just looking for a fast turnaround with his cars so they were priced to sell. I got the train up on Saturday, taxi to the dealer then paid by debit card.piece of cake. He was a straight talking dealer and a pleasure to deal with, didn't ask or want credit so can't comment there. The car was valeted and washed ready for collection. Good sound advice for directions and fuel. All round a positive experience. Would use again without a thought.

Johnson Cars had advertised a nice BMW 3 series for a really good price. I called up and was assured that they did part exchange and that I would be dealing with an established family company with over 20 years of honest trading in Sheffield. I turned up and was shown around the BMW - to be fair, it was in very good shape. Impressed, I asked for a part ex value on mine. My car was in really quite good nick and I really didn't want a lot for it. And it was at this point it all started to go wrong. After a short wait I was ushered to a portacabin to meet the business manager. I was greeted at the door by an aging man in bermuda shorts eating a packet of king size cheese Wotsits (seriously)! His words to me were not 'hello sir, how are you' but 'I'm not interested, mate - these are all sorts of trouble'. I waited for more words to come - perhaps a derisory valuation of my car - but they didn't. I stood there like a fool for around thirty seconds before he went back into his hut and shut the door. Even if he didn't want to do the deal, a hint of politeness wouldn't have harmed. Good old family companies, eh?? I've never really understood why a family company would necessarily be better than one owned by business people and Johnson Cars certainly add credence to my theory. And, am I just a tyical dreamer who believed that his old banger was worth it's weight in gold? Well, I wanted around £2300 minimum for it. Bottom book was £2800. Quicks of Hull, where I eventually part-exed it, paid me £2800 two months later and had in back on the forecourt for £3700 within two days. Anyway, if you're after full dealer facilities and first class customer service, I would avoid Johnson Cars. However, if you like being lower in the pecking order than a party pack of Wotsits, then this is the place for you!! Hopeless!!

An absolute load of rubbish. This womans car as she has said was an ex mobility car and had had all the back end painted and painted badly. There was over spray all inside the boot and the trim inserts on the rear bumper were full of filler as was most of the back end of the car which i pointed out to the woman. Also the interior of the car was worn and tired and i said that it looked like it hasdone more miles. At Johnson Cars we pride ourselves on selling nearly new cars at very competitive prices and obviously we do take older cars in part exchange and we have to make sure that these part exchanges are proper cars with service history and with no stories ie bad previous repairs and paintwork and also any mechanical issues as we have to re-sell the part exchanges to our customers and do not want them to end up with a poor car and in this instance the womans car was a very poor car i have seen cars with 150000miles cleaner than hers.We are glad we did not sell the woman a car and even more so we did not end up with her part exchange because we would not dream of selling it on to one of our customers and we hope that some unsuspecting member of the public does not end up with her car.
