“car not safe”

Car I bought is dangerous needs new steering rack, not able to drive as its not safe. Had the car less than 2 weeks £2500 to put it right. AA approved but I could of had an accident at any time and I have four young grandchildren to run around. Manager in Gloucester very rude when I phoned him told me it wasn't anything to do with him now I had taken it into a Cardiff branch. This is what I was told to do. The Cardiff Branch cant do anything without authorisation from Cardiff and it could take 5 days. I have phoned them 4 times to try and locate the 2nd key for my car. they all said they would ring back. no one did. When I told the manager about the car being AA approved he said well they must of missed it. Phoned the complaints dept yesterday who put me through to Gloucester and I spoke to a girl who said the manager would call me when he came in at 10.30 he didn't call. Phoned complaints again and she said she would get in touch with Gloucester again and tell them it was urgent and they would call in half an hour. no one called I phoned complaints again to tell them but the girl I was dealing with was on the phone and was going to call me back but no call came. I paid £14,360 for this BMW X3 and I don't have a car to drive. I am a widow of 71. manager was even rude to the staff at Cardiff they couldn't believe it

If you reported the faults within 30 days of purchase, under the Consumer Rights 2015 you have the right to return the car for full refund, claim a discount, have the car repaired at their cost.
Search Consumer Rights.
I'm going through the problems with Birmingham. Don't give up. The law is on your side. Evans Halshaw will try to run you into the ground but stick with it.
Speak to Citizens Rights, very helpfull.

Had a Renault Megan moved from Gloucester . The person I dealt with gave both my wife and myself a test drive. We thought the car excellent. The purchase was painless and explained fully . The car was £700 under any similar car on the internet. So I would recommend The Car Store . Birmingham.very friendly and professional . Bought the car and the person I dealt with went to a garage and added petrol .

“Awful ”

Ordered 2 cars for me and friend was told both were phically in store after ringing them to find out where they were.so went to pick up only to be told 1 car had been sold over a week before so told stories by all no customer service DO NOT BUY from this awful company

“Terrible”

Awful Purchased my car 12 months ago, this was taxed by the sales man for me, as he said he needed to do it as it needed taking off the disabled tax class. Fine, no problem. Fast forward to today, I have come to find that the tax class actually hadn't been changed, so discovered I have been driving round with the wrong tax for 12 months. Had to send my log book off to get this sorted because their sales man couldn't do what he said he would. I have complained to Evans Halshaw West Bromwich to be told 'I am unable to provide an explanation on how or why this has happened', that they 'don't know what it is I want them to do', that they 'understand the implications that I have outlined and what could have happened', that 'I am unable to go back 12 months to find out how or why this happened', all of these taken from emails from the business manager and a customer service advisor. On top of this, I originally called to raise the issue and all I could hear is shouting and laughing in the background. I am now going to trading standards, this should be investigated fully, this could have caused a number of implications, would never ever recommend to anyone.

“Damsel in distress”

At approximately 5pm today after a busy day at work I started my car to be greeted with the message Key battery low I was tired, 10 miles from home and worried that my car would just stop. I googled my nearest Renault agent and discovered Evans Halshaw at Worksop just over a mile away, Knowing that 5pm is one of the worst times to try to get assistance as most people are in the weekend mode. I entered the showroom with some apprehension and was pleasantly surprised when the gentleman seated looked up and said in a friendly manner “may I help you” this immediately put me at ease, I explained my problem and he assured me that he would change the battery and I would be on my way in minutes. This is Customer Care at It’s best, great service and generosity,

“payed £200 pound deposite for the car to be sold!!!!”

I payed a £200 pound deposit on a car to have it saved and moved from one branch to another. After I had payed the deposit and it had cleared from my bank account I called the Gloucester branch which I had been dealing with to ask if they had any information about the car and was informed that there was no information to be given, I thought this was odd but left it. After a week I rang the branch again as I was told it would only take 7 Days for the car to be moved and that I would receive a phone call which I never did, when I finally got put onto the right person after going through 5 different people who didn't know what I was talking about I was told again that there was no information for me and that it could actually take up to 10 Days for the car to be moved and was apologised to for the miss information. I stupidly thought that this was the end of the situation and it was all sorted. it was not. I rang again on the Sunday to be rudely told that because it was a Sunday there was nothing they could tell me because it was a weekend and that someone would be in contact with me on the Monday. Monday came and went with no phone call and now on Wednesday I call again to be passed through 5 different people who had no clue how to answer any of my queries, finally I am put into contact with the person I dealt with, after explaining to him my situation giving the car registration and my personal details so he could find me on the system I was told " Ah yes I was just about to call you, now you see there is a bit of a problem", I think okay nothing to worry about I'm probably just going to be told its going to take a few more days but no this is not the news I received , I was informed by him"We are sorry to inform you that the car has in actual fact been sold"!!!!! Yes you read correctly, after paying my £200 pound deposit which is supposed to secure the car it was sold!!!!!. I am now in a state of shock and miss understanding, and ask him"well why has the car been sold, I payed you £200 pound to reserve it for me", yet all I can be told is " Were sorry for the mistake" I explain to him(which the branch already knew) that I have no car, as mine was written off the road and I have no transport to work, which means no money!!. And all that is repeated to me is "we are sorry for the mistake", so I ask "well what are you going to do about this", to be told "what do you think were going to do, there is nothing that I can do about this". so I inform him that I am going to take it to the manager, and the response I receive is " ok then" as if I am the one who is in the wrong not them. I was spoken to absolutely appallingly given the situation and was not given any helpful information or suggestions to help me with me situation, I will be visiting the branch on the weekend to speak to a manager or the highest person available and if I am still treated the same with no suggestion to resolving the mistake they made I will be taking this case to someone of a higher role outside of the business to help resole my situation. And of yet I have not been reimbursed my £200 pound deposit.

“What a job trying to get money back… ”

What a job trying to get money back from this place. I paid a £200 deposit to have a car moved nearer to my home (refundable). The car was badly presented, warning light on, sat nav not working etc so I declined. Trying to get my deposit retuned has been a trial. Trying to get someone to return your calls is impossible.

“Terrible service - Birmingham branch”

Staff kept us waiting when we had an appointment booked to view the car and then again to collect it the following week. Extremely disorganised and we were not given the SD card for the satnav before we left (which was promised at point of sale and on the spec of the car) and no car mats even which is a disgrace considering it is not a cheap car that was purchased! We were told the satnav card will be sent in the post but have still received nothing. Other issues also but waste of energy to even write them here! My husband has raised this for the second time today via phonecall and all he was told was 'we will get back to you in 48 hours' which is no good... he called last week too but no one bothered to call back. However, one member of staff (Tendayi) was extremely helpful but the management in this place need sorting out!!! How would they like it if they were treated like this? Not very happy I am guessing!

“Incompetence, Indolence and Inefficiency”

Incompetence, Indolence and Inefficiency - a story of Evans Halshaw, Coventry. I paid a deposit to reserve a car I saw on Autotrader. Was told it was being "prepped". That was two weeks ago! Numerous calls to EH Wolverhampton and EH Coventry have resulted in no progress. Are they Indolent? Have tried the Business Managers at both sites without success. Are they Incompetent or just Inefficient? Have been assured that someone at EH Coventry will get me an answer on where this car is and call me back. Silence, so far, has been deafening! Are they Indolent or just plain Incompetent? Have, today, tried to speak with the Dealer Principal at Coventry and been told he will call me back; that was 3+ hours ago. Is he Incompetent, Indolent or just Inefficient? The question now is: "Does EH actually have this car? Is it damaged and thus requires extensive work before it can be test driven? why is it taking so long to prep a small Ford car for viewing? Something does not smell right! Looking at the huge number of poor reviews on the web how does this company continue to be allowed to trade and how do they stay in business? Why am I persevering, you are probably asking? Well, my wife likes the sound of this particular car and if I requested a refund of my deposit then this lets this bunch of Incompetents off the hook and, this, I am not prepared to do. My next step is to refer the issue to the Retail Motor Industry Federation and the Motor Traders Association in the [vain?] hope that they do not display the same attributes as Evans Halshaw and actually try to intervene and resolve this issue to my satisfaction. To anyone who reads this sad tale, please pass on the story to friends and family (and the press if you have any contacts) and think twice before dealing with this company.

got a online price to sell my car to Evans halshaw and attended Crayford branch on 5th july was seen by a very pleasant young lady who was very helpful and friendly took about 30mins to get the price whitch was £130 less than quoted on line but £750 more than we buy any car and £850 more than main dealer price on new car money was in bank by 10 July would highly recommend try them first

“Poor customer service”

Please do not go to Evans Halshaw Northgate Leicester. Once you have brought a car they will not help you at all should anything go wrong. This is the second car I have brought and have had problems with both of them. They have cost me a considerable amount of money and are only interested in commission from sales. A truly shocking set up all round.

“STAY AWAY ”

STAY AWAY! terrible service from coventry dealership, poor staff, over-promise and under-deliver. Purchased a car from them on 12/05/2018, took the whole weekend to get it sorted. Written signed confirmation that they would supply a second key free of charge and confirm last service date as they couldnt locate the log-book. Still waiting nearly two months after chasing and now being dealt with buy the financial ombudsman. Seriously, stay away! There is the new Motorhouse place J3, M6 nearby and would urge you not to step foot in this place. A shameful company with no morals and give a bad name to the industry.

“Trade in price un-realistic”

Wanted to purchase a 19k car and asked for a trade in price on my Porsche. This could only be done with a visit apparently. Drove for 1.5 hours to test drive the used car (which was fine), the salesperson had to take photos of my car and send to to another part of the company. After 15 minutes we agreed on the used car purchase and were waiting for the trade in price. My car is selling for a similar or slightly more on Auto Trader as the Lexus I wanted to buy, so expected a price of around 17k to be offered. Everyone has to make a profit! I was very surprised when they offered me 12k? Needless to say we left without buying their car. Why make me drive all the way their if they were only going to make a derisory offer. If they did not want it way not say before I left home. They claim to offer more than "We buy any car" but were sadly short of their offer too! Clearly happy to waste customers time, I will not used this group again. Shame as Salesperson had done a good job!

“Dangerous repairs !!!”

Vehicle went in for a light showing on dash, they had vehicle three days investigating and repairing. After repair 207 mile completed a rattle was heard. In checking under bonnet the air box was only secure with one nut, the rubber mounts where missing, on closer inspection the air box bolts had been replaced with self tapping screw, which stick though contacting the fuel pipes. We reported this to them, we was blamed for fitting self rappers but told by manager that it is a standard Vauxhall repair to fit said screws. They said they would order missing rubber mounts but would not replace air box they have so called repaired. This is a dangerous repair with the points of screws running on wiring loom and fuel pipes. We was told we would need to buy a new air box at our expense to repair their dangerous repair !! DO NOT USE VAUXHALL at Priory Park if you value your live. They released a dangerous repair claiming its a standard Vauxhall repair and did not inform anyone they had done this dangerous repair. It is so lose its broken the oil filler cap, dealership is dangerous and costs customers to correct damaged caused by them.

“Do NOT go there!!”

Went to Evans Halshaw Leeds to view a Hyundai I saw advertised on the website. Looked a nice car so drove 50 miles to view, withu friend who is a qualified car mechanic. Arrived at reception to be totally ignored for about 5 minutes ( staff DID see us but chose to ignore) then eventually a young salesman arrived. Brought the car round to view, and it was NOT as described. Different colour greys on the car, but when questioned they insisted there had been no accident causing the damage. WHY would someone replace a wing for the sake of it??? The sales staff were unwilling to lower the price due to the different colour and also the fact that the interior needed a damn good clean. Apparently the car had been serviced with £700 being quoted as repairs on it. Really?? Is this something to brag about? To top it all, the salesman said if I bought the car and was prepared to hang around for an hour, I could drive it away. Erm....a full service, wax, polish and touch ups on paint work in an HOUR? Don't think so somehow. Needless to say I left, thankful for the fact my friend is a qualified mechanic and could see the pitfalls. Just money making organisation just wanting your money then off you go. Avoid at all costs.

“Horrible Service with incompetent staff ”

Ridiculous service by incompetent staff at the show room in Aston, Birmingham. I was told stories on several occasions and deliberately had my transaction delayed when I was advised I would have the payment cleared in 1 working day after selling my car to them. More importantly, the supervisor had an absolute stink on his 'willingness to help' and was rude and unhelpful. He ought to be fired!! Stay well clear guys, its not worth your time I promise..
