“Management problems. ”

★★☆☆☆

written by robeld1234 on 22/01/2018

The payment process, and the checking process of multiple personal documents, all done over the internet (no idea how securely) was extremely long winded and unnecessarily complicated. I accidentally made a payment twice, as on the first attempt on UnbeatableHire’s website, it showed as having failed. On checking my bank statement and realising I’d paid double, I contacted the company immediately. Still waiting, 2 months later for an adequate response and a refund. Just read another review about a lengthy delay to get damage deposit back. No surprise. Having recently completed the hire, I guess I’ve got this still to come! All in all a pity, as the vehicle itself was great, the depot staff very helpful, and the handover very cordial. There seem to be problems in this company’s management which are too big to ignore. I’d advise caution.

Before collecting the van I contacted Unbeatable regarding staying on caravan club sites, their website mentions temporary membership. After a few emails, I was assured that there would be a details on the key fob when I collected the van. We planned to use the van as a base for our stay at Silverstone with a final night at Tewkesbury caravan site, then make the short journey to return the van at Bristol. Naturally when I collected the van from Bristol, there was an awful lot to take in and I didn’t check the key fob, frankly it was the last thing on my mind at the time. We had pre-booked with Tewkesbury and as advised planned to hand the fob to the reception on arrival. However, on the day we set off from Silverstone we realised there was nothing about temporary membership anywhere in the van or on the fob, so we ended up paying the additional non-member fee to stay on the site. On arrival at Silverstone we had a few problems closing the habitation door but eventually it shut, the next day on opening it, it would neither re- close or open. Eventually after a great deal of help from other campers, many who had also rented vans for the event, we managed to close the door and it stayed that way until we returned. This meant we had to clamber through the cab of the van each and every time we exited or entered. When we left site, I secured the door with cable ties as it did not feel safe driving knowing the door may spring open at any moment. On returning the van to Bristol , I removed the ties, the return staff were very apologetic and advised that the previous renters had the same problem and a couple of other vans were having similar problems. Although we enjoyed the use of the van, the misinformation provided and door problem was an irritation and something we didn’t need. I contacted Unbeatable after being offered a 'bribe' to write a good review on this site and explained my concerns, this was 2 weeks ago and have had no further emails from. There are many companies hiring campers and I would suggest like I will be doing next year, hire from one of them.

Finally received my deposit back after 33 working days. I will keep this simple. If you are very patient with the initial booking and constant email updates etc and are good with computers crack on. The motorhome was fine with a few dints here and there so when I queried marks and chips they were not required well that made me worry as every other scratch and minor crack was required. The mileage on the tablet on take over was higher than the odometer so I took photographs to prove my innocence if needed as it couldnt be altered (was a 1000 miles out by the way). The motorhome itself was fine although even for 2 of us we did feel a bit cramped. Oh and yes it was powerful and nice to drive sitting at 70 on the motorway no problem and was economical for a motorhome. handover on return went ok but yet again the mileage couldnt be altered and we had only covered 300 + miles in a week so more photographs were taken. Back to the stringent handover conditions which went fine and nothing had changed except that I remarked that the kitchen sink leaked which I initially thought to leave it as I could have landed myself in a problem here but I was hoping that by letting the information be known that others would not be disadvantaged in some way. So now I wait 28 WORKING days for the return of my £1250 deposit that turns into £1235 because of some admin fee. 28 days comes along and nothing and manage somehow to phone them and speak to someone and get through and spoken to and then have to wait another week for it to land back on my credit card making this 33 WORKING days after the return of the vehicle. So there you have a good overall view in my opinion so if you like messing with computers and electronic signatures and non answerable calls to issues and waiting ages for a substantial deposit use unbeatable but not for me I will go back to another hirer that I have used before who I paid £350 deposit for and got that back on return of the vehicle.

I cant agree more with your review. 38 days and counting waiting for my refund of £1250. Many emails later and just spoke to livechat who stated there was a glitch in the system which kept offering me a double deposit voucher instead. Declining this offer should have triggered my refund but didnt.....I live in Australia hardly likely to accept.
I would never use Unbeatable again .. The motorhome was old ,the shower screen broken and struts under the bed broken. Also the check in on the tablet....no copy for me of anything.

“Vehicle was fine - beware of fine print & deposit recovery”

★★☆☆☆

written by Hogan1983 on 10/04/2016

Hired a Motorhome from Unbeatable Hire in January following purchasing a Groupon offer. The pickup was great, the van was great and the dropoff was fine. Following the hire came the inducement "Fancy £30 worth of complimentary Amazon Gift vouchers? All you have to do to get your £30 Amazon Voucher is post your feedback about your motorhome holiday (providing either a 4* or 5* review) on the website below: " To my mind that's a bribe, which damaged my opinion of the company. I was happy with the experience, but hadn't received the refund of deposit so thought I would hold off any review. In trying to recover my deposit I was told that I would have to wait until close of business 25th March 2016 until they administered the refund. We handed the van back on 31st January. I had received an email before the hire that stated "Your security deposit payment will usually be refunded to the authorised credit card held on file, 14 days after the end of the hire period". I queried this and whilst one might have expected a reputable company to honour such a statement I was told "Unfortunately our terms and conditions were amended on 9th November 2015, so I apologise for you having subsequently been incorrectly informed. As stated in the terms and conditions - "The Security Deposit will be held and refunded upon request after 28 working days after the date of the check-in date of the vehicle. This period of time may be longer in the event of any post hire charges being required to be imposed."" 28 days to most people is 4 weeks, but this company states "working days". Strange.....we dropped the van off on a Sunday, but apparently that is not a working day. Even so, it is more than 28 working days from 31st January to 25th March, so I queried that to be told "The Check-in administration process was completed by the depot administrator on 10th February 2016" Well that was really rich....the electronic process was completed whilst I was there on 31st January! Oh, and they send you an email offering you a credit against a future hire of twice the value of the deposit if you waive the refund, and the refund is apparently not actioned unless you specifically advise them that you don't want to take the offer. So eventually I received my deposit back less £18.84. Why the deduction? "Card Fees: £3.84 plus a refund processing administration fee of £15.00". So.....make up your own mind about this company. I've made up mine and won't be using them again.

“MotorHome Hire with Unbeatable Hidden Charges”

★★☆☆☆

written by elizabethg0801 on 30/10/2015

We rented a motorhome for 4 days for £390. It was relatively straight forward to organise online. On arrival the motorhome was clean, nearly new and well equipped. We returned it cleaner than we collected it. As it was only a short term rental we were required to pay a £1250 deposit. This was not repaid until 4 weeks after the rental after numerous emails - phones are not answered! By the time Unbeatable hire had finished with us they had deducted £103.66 in sundry admin charges and credit card charges. As a result of this experience I will certainly NOT be using this company again. The rates quoted are totally disingenuous and it is disturbing that they can hold such a large sum of money as deposit for so long

“WAS happy....but got a shock 3 weeks after our return”

★★☆☆☆

written by blondie4565 on 20/10/2015

My husband and I rented a motorhome from unbeatable hire for our honeymoon in Scotland. Everything went well with the booking but when we arrived to pick up our rental we were told that the large window in the front didn't work, there were cracks in the side window so we had to be extra careful not to damage it any further. We got home a few hours early so we could give it a good cleaning....it was cleaner when we returned it than when we took possession of it. But our biggest problem came with the £160.00 refund. While we were away in it we had a flat tire....so we called the tire repair company as per instructions. They in turn sent a repairman out, from Inverness on a Saturday night, with a brand new tire which he put on the vehicle. Nice and convenient...right??? Well it was especially as we were told that anything like that would be covered by the company. What we find out 3 weeks afterwards (when I called about our refund which still hadn't been returned to our bank account)is that they are expecting US to pay for the new tire as well as the call out of the repairman...to the tune of £216.04!!! and that, with OUR permission, their finance department will go into our bank account and take the remaining £56.04 (which is what's left owing on it AFTER they take our £160.00 deposit towards the cost! We were told by 2 different people that this was their responsibility and at no cost to us. If we had known it would be charged to us then we would have used our own breakdown coverage...not their overpriced one.....it's good way to get new tires and make the customers pay for it.....for all we know the tire had already been damaged by the previous rental. We checked the vehicle over thoroughly before leaving with it...but the tires are a different matter. We are currently in a 'discussion' with their staff but we're also considering going to Trading Standards if our deposit is not refunded asap.

“Hidden charges, hard to get back deposit”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 26/08/2015

I used a motor home from 01.07.2015 to 08.07.2015. Everything worked smoothly until the deposit return phase. Like many others before me I did not get it back in time. I e-mailed Unbeatable Hire and got no response. I rang their phone numbers and finally after numerous attempts the only number that answered was reservations and they promised to pass on my message. I got an email back advising me to respond to their e-mail which was sent earlier and called double discount offer. They also made me another „good offer“ to use my deposit in the future but I refused and requested my deposit be returned immediately. To my surprise I got back considerably less than I had expected and without any explanation. I asked them to explain the deductions and their feedback was very disappointing. They charged me for everything they could possibly think of! When I collected the vehicle it had little over half a tank. I specifically asked the lady who issued the vehicle if I should return the vehicle with a full tank and her answer was a clear no without any further comments. I returned a vehicle with slightly less than a half tank. It is obviously very complicated to predict the exact amount of fuel in the tank and I expected that I should pay for the fuel shortage. But it turned out to be the most expensive diesel I have ever bought. The difference was 20 litres and with all charges and administration fees added up every litre cost me £5,85. They explained to me that these fees are intentionally high to avoid subsequent inconvenience for them. I found this rather ironic as receiving a vehicle without a full tank was already inconvenient for me and if they have the audacity to have a ridiculous refueling charge of £37.50 they could at least guarantee a full tank. It would have been easier for them just to demand a full tank instead of calculating by a single litre. They also charged me some credit card fees but these were returned with apologies, because I paid my deposit by debit card. However, I checked the cardholder charge authorisation form and there was no indication of any fee for using a credit card. If you want to rest easy after your vacation, I highly suggest you avoid this company!

“Review of Motorhome”

★★☆☆☆

written by Spaan on 16/06/2015

The van was superficially clean but curtains smelt dirty and upholstery needed steam cleaning. Inside of cupboards also dirty. Quite an old van. Indicator light stopped working. When we tried to replace, found the bumper was held on with wood screws. No container to empty waste water. Toilet wouldn't flush. TV cable frayed so we had to buy a new one. Refused to refund bond and charging us for the dodgy bumper bar. Depot at Manchester dirty too. Not a good first impression. Now seeking legal advice to get bond back. I definitely wouldn't recommend Unbeatable Hire.

The booking was easy; all online. But don't be fooled by the initial quote as the add-ons are ridiculous, the 'admin charges pop up frequently and the damage waiver is pointless; it covers nothing e.g. covers wing mirror glass, but no the plastic... charge if damaged £350! 8 insurable days hire... starts at 3pm on day 1, finishes 11am on day 8. - ? Beware the 'post hire charges sheet': all the things they will charge you for if there's damage or things not complete on return e.g. £100 to empt the toilet cassette. Which would suggest the vehicles are in PERFECT condition when you collect them. Far from it. Ours: broken seat belts, cooker not working, skylight broken, DVD player broken, damaged crockery, hole in table, lights no working etc etc The guy that did the handover admitted later he should never have released it to us in that state! We're awaiting their response to our complaint. Not holding my breath.

I spoke with this customer on Friday 6th June 2014 who was unfortunately dissatisfied with the level of service provided and am pleased to advise this matter has now been resolved to the customers full satisfaction.

UnbeatableHire Limited recognise that on this occasion we have unfortunately failed to provide an adequate level of service expected by our customers. This issue has now been addressed by implementing new procedures to avoid any recurrence of this situation in the future.

We strive to provide our customers with the very best holiday experience and we pride ourselves in offering great customer satisfaction under all circumstances.

Our business is recently under New Management whose main focus is to meet our customers expectations and requirements on all occasions.

I am said customer and author of the original review.

I won't go into the catalogue of issues again, but suffice to say it was a lengthy tale of woes.

I was pleasantly surprised by the incredibly prompt response I got from my emailed letter of complaint; an acknowledgement of receipt in little over an hour of sending, followed by full resolution via phone conversation (confirmed by email) within 24 hours.

Yes, indeed, this company seem to have had some serious issues and I wasn't happy at all with the delivery of their service, but credit where it's due: they took the criticism square on the chin and did the right thing in offering a wholly satisfactory resolution. And you must applaud that.

They do seem to be making changes to improve their business processes, so if you like the look of the motor homes and the price is good for you, then I suggest you give them a call, discuss your needs, highlight any concerns and give them a chance.

The author of the above reply above, was very reasonable, willing to listen and clearly looking turn a struggling business around.

I wish them luck.

“Unbeatable Hire do not respond if any Rental Problems”

written by mvermaak on 12/01/2014

We had a real issue with the camper. when filling the water tank in Friday, all the water came flooding out. After contracting the company I was told that the plug on the drain pipe was not replaced and I was asked to fit it. When switching the pump on, on Saturday - the water tank was drained due to a valve left open. Another call fixed that The boiler is not working. We phoned several times, followed all the instructions and still not got it working. This yes a huge inconvenience as we now have to stay in parks with showers. I also spoke to the technician at the Gatwick that could not help me. Only on Tuesday afternoon did they suggest that I visit a repair shop and forward the cost to Unbeatablehire. By that time it was too late to find someone On Thursday I returned the camper and was informed by them that it is a well known problem on these units in winter. This just further infuriated me. This is really disappointing that there had not been any real effort to resolve this issue as a matter of urgency . With it being winter it was essential to have hot water to be able to self sufficient The preparation of the unit before delivery seem to have been neglected and far below the expected standard . For the last 2 weeks I have tried to get someone to contact me to discuss the issues

“Many hidden charges - but great camper vans”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 02/01/2014

Unbeatable have great modern camper vans, but you really must watch the hidden extras, which took our hire from the quoted price of £390 up to just over £1000 for 6 nights hire!! The original Quoted Hire was £390, but then they added on 13 additional separate charges as follows; • Various card charges / booking fees / admin fees - £48.97 • Insurances and VAT - £264.86 • Bedding / gas - £105.00 • Mileage charges - £266.80 The van was great and modern and we could go anywhere - these hidden charges which we only found out after we got back (read the small print!) has ruined our holiday.

So many reviews all so very nice, there is a name for that and it is not at all honest. Our hire...great vehicle a few dents and scratches throughout so we made sure they knew we were taking extensive photographic evidence as we have been stung before. We went in with our eyes open but the added costs stacked up and they kept the deposit for the month post hire. Our problems began with incompetent staff taking money from accounts (one account given for deposit) without a signed authority to do so. This got worse and we ended up paying the international transaction fees on monies removed without our permission on more than one occasion. We did not want to use docusign on line and insisted on coming in to sign the authority at the time of hire (they had already taken deposit and additional funds without permission. It was not until we returned home to a land far far away that we realised they had removed the fees before we had signed the document in office. I could go on but I am challenging through legal routes and we want our money back. Don't trust them.

Mine is not the only complaint about such issues, check other postings. We were completely dismayed by what went on and they did not sort it to our satisfaction no matter how much proof I presented of their unlawful actions. The vehicle was new and easy to use I cannot complain about that but I will continue to warn others to be very wary of giving them bank account details and make sure you double check all transactions. The two star rating is because the vehicle was good it would have been a zero rating for the actions of those in administration who illegally removed funds simply because they 'thought' I said something despite my insistence on signed authorities each and every time. My belief is that many of these blogs are done by staff there is no honesty in this business BE WARY, BE WARNED!

“great service... beware extortionate hidden "fees"”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 04/12/2013

We hired a mobilehome recently and had an amazing time. The phone service from Unbeatable hire was excellent and paperwork was dealt with quickly. The hire depot staff were also great. However... upon returning the amount of hidden fees started to mount up. Our initial payment carried a £3.58 fee. Deposit fee £30 Return of deposit £25 plus £12.50 plus VAT admin fee "Fees" total £78.58. Plus deposit is held for a minimum of one month. So I have incured further credit card charges. Beware... it's a real shame as I had wanted to use them again but that amount of admin fee is beyond extortionate!

“poorly maintained, hidden costs, impersonal service”

★★☆☆☆

written by Natsmcc on 17/10/2013

Initially we liked the price for the van and the fact it was going to be a new van (2012/13). Purchasing online seemed convenient too. However there is so much small print (that affects your price) and also all documentation is electronic signature (not a straightforward process) that it ended up being very complicated and we would have ultimately preferred to deal face to face with a quality salesperson. Instead I asked questions over the phone, but was only given answers to questions I specifically asked, we discovered cost related things later that I felt should have been highlighted up front (instead of hiding behind "it's in the terms and conditions"). Also getting someone on the phone was problematic, I discovered only by pressing redial repeatedly would someone pick up. The online insurance document didn't work properly (couldn't add a second driver, so ended up having to do that over the phone) and also watch out for the Collision Damage Waiver clause £15 per driver per day in addition to an insurance deposit! The insurance deposit is held onto for 28days - supposedly to cover any damages/speeding tickets etc - although neither of those make sense as speeding tickets would be automatically passed onto the named driver and damages should be discussed immediately as the vans go out again the day after you return it. However they do deduct from your insurance deposit (without prior warning) any gas used and for the toilet pack - again something a good customer service team would notify you of in advance and something I would prefer to pay for upfront. As it was I budgeted to receive my £120 "insurance" deposit back 28days later and instead only received £75 as gas/toilet charges had been deducted without warning or agreement. With respect to the van, we originally searched for Manchester, we were slightly amused that the original pick up was about 14 miles south of Manchester, but then the pick up/drop off was changed by the company to Nantwich which is definately not Manchester. This becomes a problem as your hire days include the pick up and drop off (pick up lunchtime drop off by lunchtime) so you effectively pay full hire rate for 2 x 1/2 days - if you are taking a holiday this also reduces your days away considerably if you can't leave til lunchtime and have to drop off by lunchtime. The van itself had stained seats and toilet door handle missing so it couldn't be closed, generally pretty worn for a 2013 plate - turnaround time means they can't look after them properly. So to summarise it ended up costing us £135 more than original quote and the not very personal, informative or supportive customer service has led me to believe that it's better to pay more and go local for something as important as your home for a week!

“Beware the hidden charges which can be considerable!!!”

written by on 12/09/2013

We hired a motor home from Unbeatable Hire for a long weekend - July 25 - 29th. The online booking process was ok. We opted for CDW at £12.5 per day. (Watch out though - they charge this per day not per 24 hours - so on the day you retrun by 1000 you pay for a whole days cdw). We picked up the van at Bristol depot in the afternoon. Van was great, staff very helpful and took time to go through everything with us. We only travelled 60 miles in total so no long journeys! Enjoyed the van very much, found it very comfortable and easy to use. Returned it as requested monday morning. All checked out and on our way. Since then we have had a number of charges which we did not know about at the time of booking, and which were not communicated to us. These include|:Insurance surcharge of £5.00,an insurance surcharge admin fee of £9.00, an insurance surcharge credit card fee of £5.04, (which was later refunded when I pointed out that I used a debit card) an insurance premium tax of £1.00. After 28 days our £120 deposit was returned, but only £77.40! Again I was given no details and had to contact them. The deduaction was for gas - £28.00 (at £5.00 per kilo) - we hardly used any gas in the 4 nights we had the van so a weeks rental would be expensive. Then they apply a £7.5 admin fee and then vat of £7.10. I really dislike these hidden charges and whilst they just refer you to their terms and conditions, none of the applied charges were communicated to us - only by checking the money they take on your card will you be aware. So great van but a very sneaky business practice. My advice is to shop around and to ask for the total costs before you commit. There are lots of private individuals who hire out their vans - I will use on of these in future!

“Stung on extras”

written by Lmdenham on 03/09/2013

All great until return from holiday. Motor home hire £900 great, come home to an unexpected additional charge to credit card of £1886 which was held onto for over 21 days and now only £1100 to be refunded once extras and post hire charges deducted. Poor communication ref costs and only answer machines answer when you ring. So hire nearly doubled in price. Hopefully that's the last of charges. Feeling gullible :(

“Motorhome fine but hidden charges are obscene ”

written by on 01/09/2013

We hired for 6 days in July from the Heathrow - the vehicle was easy to drive - it was clean and appeared to be well equipped. The pick up was ok - a bit delayed but the return was good. The build quality was very very poor though - on par with the cheapest flatpack furniture. Given the reviews warning about charges for damages it made for a very stressful 6 days as worried that everything was going to fall apart in your hands. We only drove it to Oxford and back and only slept in it so did not need to use any of the cooking facilities at all so can't comment on their performance. The real issue, as you will have gathered from the other reviews, is the charges. I am an qualified accountant and read all the finance small print however I have been charged for surcharges/administration charges that I have been unable to find in the contracts. You will just find charges been made against your credit card with no notification or support. The total cost is much higher than the original price and ends up more than competitors. In addition they keep your deposit of £1,250 for over 4 weeks. I have just been reimbursed £1,183 - with no correspondence as to why £67 has been taken. I am still waiting for an explanation. I am a Which legal service user and I am going to report these company to them as they have a campaign against hidden charges - I can see other people have reported them to Rip Off Britain. So wished we had gone with someone else!

Mrslemon's Comment

Written on: 02/09/2013

Got the explanation - £45 was taken off for various fees just for returning the deposit, plus the £10 toilet pack actually costs £22 when the fees were added.

Recommendation is that you don't go anywhere near the toilet pack and that you add £45 onto the published costs as the only way to avoid that one is if you don't ask for you deposit back!

They have just ignored my complaint completely. I wonder if all the good reviews on this site are just the motorhome owners themselves and the employees of the company!

Just having the same issues and was unsure who to complain to, they are getting away with these ridiculous charges and not communicating to their customers. What started as a cheap few days away has become an expensive and stressful time.

“would not recommend”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 15/08/2013

We were impressed to begin with, however after the hour and a half induction we were too scared to touch anything incase we broke it! Turns out we did break something... when we returned the 2 berth vehcile I had apparently broke the sunroof which we then drove with (unknowingly) open. Firstly we were never told how to open and close the sunroof, I don't even recallopening it, when it was returned the man told us he didnit know how much it would cost us. Nearly 3 weeks later (after several emails and calls) we finally recieved an email to say we have been charged £230 to fix it. Oh and we don't have a choice in paying as they have kept hold of our £1200 deposit this whole time. Not impressed, will not be using them again and would not recommend the company.

“ Watch out for the Hidden costs !!!”

★★☆☆☆

written by Chap on 02/03/2013

The campervan itself was fantastic and we would love to hire one again, we wont be using unbeatable hire again though. Extra surcharges for insurance, admin fees, £ 10.00 to use the toilet, £30 for gas for the hob, more admin fees. It seemed like they were trying to make as much money as possible charging you for anything they possibly can. If u do hire with them, make sure u read ALL the small print. Oh and don't expect a call back after leaving 5 answer phone messages either because unless its to take money from you they won't bother !!!! Very disappointing service

It is impossible to get hold of them to discuss anything. We had an issue with the heating in the van and could not talk to anyone. I emailed every contact that I could find as well as their CEO, but no response. I would suspect that if you are not satisfied, you will have the same problem

I guess so. There is a comprehensive list of everything and the charges on the website so if you break/lose anything you should not be surprised if hit by a cost. The best course of action is to take care of everything and make sure that you note down/take photos of EVERY piece of damage present on the van before you agree to the hire. This way you will not have any nasty surprises.

No, you will pay a fortune for damage you didn't committ

They are as fair as they see fit i'm afraid. Standard business practice. Bottom line is these vehicles go through so much in one season and almost every customer does something to the vehicle. This ranges from any type of marking all the way to write off. example: A glass LED cover (in pre 2015 models) is £90 charge alone when broken or cracked. Why is it so high? Because it's a business and businesses do not want to lose money especially if someone else is at fault. The £90 will be made up of costs with a small margine for profit. Once you sign their dotted line then i'm afraid you play their game. Always, always read the Terms and Conditions. (former employee)

This company is offering what seems to be a too good to be true investment scheme. Are they legitimate and trustworthy?

I don't know about investment schemes, but we hired a motorhome from Unbeatablehire and they were professional and helpful.

I've hired from them more than once & have considered investing but my repeated request for a copy of their contract/T's&C's appears to have fallen on deaf ears, so I decided not to go ahead

I can't answer about investments, they do do offer exceptional hire deals and the vans are new and clean.........BUT.......they way they deal with you post hire not returning your deposit making false claims about fuel use verges on being criminal, I got my money back after making threats to report them to the police etc. simply would I trust them with my hard earned money, NO. If something is to good to be true it probably isn't

I agree with the person below. The took nearly £1000 from my account on the false excess mileage claim; it took me nearly a year to resolve it. I would never do anything with them again, they are as dodgy as they come - there's loads of terrible ratings about them across the internet.

I've not looked at their investment schemes but my experience of hiring from them was abysmal and I got royally ripped off. I would certainly make sure that you read all of the small print very carefully and get legal advice before signing anything. In retrospect I felt I should have had that level of input at the point I hired!

This company are a bunch of con-men. I would not touch them with a barge pole. They use hidden / confusing terms and conditions, then you end up paying twice as much in fees and charges than you expected, they are total rip off merchants.

Our investment scheme is now into its fifth year. Each investor has their funds secured against a motorhome on our fleet - giving them peace of mind. We have never failed to pay any investors monthly payments or return their capital at the end of the agreement. All of our investors also get limited free hires in our motorhomes, making it even more attractive for them. We currently have a waiting list for new investors who wish to join us, such is the success of the scheme.

I also cannot comment on their investment scheme but had no problems hiring from them. Everyone at our local depot was really helpful and friendly. More importantly our security deposit was fully refunded to our bank account two weeks after our holiday finished. We'd definitely a hire from them again based on our experience.

I took out Insurance Excess Waiver but it counts for nothing. When you check their terms and conditions which they happily quote at you after payment, nothing inside or outside the motorhome is insurable. Therefore, what is insurable? They declined to answer just stating 'refer to T&C's which you signed and are legally bound by'. Hopefully customers will complain to the consumer ombudsman and trading standards to finally put a stop to their methods of extorting money from customers. There are so many complaints on Google reviews (not Google+ where motorhome owners through their ownership scheme review), review centre.com (although we know they are offering Amazon vouchers to put 4 and 5 star reviews) and TripAdvisor (camper van hire in England thread). The public need to make complaints to regulators so their 'activities' can be looked into. The Guardian first mentioned them in 2012 when they used Motorholme name. Now they are also Unbeatable Hire, Hire Booking Centre Limited and National Motorhomes. I think the latter is their newest name so there are no negative views yet when you search for them - still all the same company. Latest review on the Guardian website. Even the Guardian newspaper are aware of them.
