Movie review "Desert Flower"

The film shows the directors intention of making people aware of female circumcision in an impressing and reliable way. That is also because of the actor Lyia Kebebe who plays Waris Dirie. She shows Waris development from a Nomad to a successful model and especially to a strong woman very good. The movie ist different from the biographie because the structure and intention is different. Watching the movie after reading the book was therefore kind of confusing because you cannnot expect the same scenes and structure as in the book. Some scenes are also left out and changed which might be hard to understand if you have not read the book before. Anyway,I can really recommend the movie because it is useful to know about the painful and dangerous practise of circumcision all over the world so that there is a chance to help this women. Moreover you get an insight in the culture of Nomads in Somalia.
