“Badly set up.”

The bike came with a set of toe-clip pedals which was generous but the gears are badly set up - I believe the term is indexing. When the lowest gear is selected, the derailleur shifts the chain in between the rear cogs and the wheel protector and jams. Second lowest gear slips like a broken Sturmey Archer from the old days. “Poor selection, poor delivery service”

After having my bike stolen the insurance company told me I had to select a bike from wheelies. When I looked for a replacement bike I felt the selection was very limited, with a lot of makes I've never heard of. I finally found a bike to have (or lose out and have nothing). The bike hasn't arrived yet, hopefully it will be fine. But after insurance finally sorted me out with the voucher and I ordered the bike, the delivery date they offered is 10 working days after the order date. They told me over the phone it would be arriving Thursday and dispatched hopefully Friday, I've chased them up Monday and they say the next available delivery slot is next Friday. Still feeling sore after the theft of my bike and maybe not even claiming because of the extra costs ,bureaucracy etc. I am so glad i did because the replacement service I received was refreshing in its simplicity and efficiency. Because within a short conversation I was off to the bike shop with my vouchers. The feeling of loss and bitterness was replaced by a renewed start on the road with a brand new bike. “Insurance team are fine - where are sales?”

The insurance team dealt with my claim super efficiently and were excellent. The issues I am having are with a complete lack of engagement by the sales team! I have asked a question by the contact form 3 working days ago and again via email over 24 hours ago and have had a response to neither of those questions. 1. The nagging email was sent to me before I'd even bought anything asking to leave a review. Too early, clearly automated and not well thought out. 2. I was forced into using Wheelies via my insurance claim, wouldn't have chosen otherwise. 3. My voucher was a one off voucher. Informing him insurance part was easy it was after transfer to these did problems start. An initial offer came through quick but when looked into it the bike was not being replaced like 4 like. The people promise to call you or email this never happens A week later spent over an hour on the phone justifying what was stolen Prices did not add up they tried to give cheapest quotes of everything and argue. This is the polar opposite to what I have experienced.. and I've now had 1 stolen bike and one insurance replacement through damage. Each time, Wheelies have been exceptional.

Don't get me wrong, if you had a 2010 bike with Dura Ace - you're not going to get a replacement 2020 bike with Dura Ace, but you will get like for like technology. That could be Ultegra, or even 105 now with 10 years development - still a very fair process.

I can't thanks Wheelies enough - shining example of how customer service should be approached!
